Critical Situation

"Oh god! What happened here?" She held her hand in front of her mouth from the shock.

The blood pond under the victim got larger and larger with every second that passed. Amber, stunned by what she saw right in front of her feet stood completely still, her face pale like a freshly washed blanket and her eyes wide opened.

"Is he still alive? I need to check his heart is still beating and stop the bleeding."

She took one of his arms and tried to feel his pulse but there was none and after checking the body for the cause of the bleeding she quickly noticed that his neck had a clean cut from which blood was still flowing out.

"Th... this iii..is probably from the Cosa Nostra family the...they are here right now! I need to get the hell out of here immediately oth... otherwise, I might be killed as well."

Without losing any more time, she sneaked pass the corpse in front of her and continued down the hallway until she reached the director's office. The door was wide open allowing her to hear voices coming from the office, which were not those from Brian or the director.

"Say, Brian where is the treasure that your father hid? If you don't want your little friend here to have an early death you better respond quickly."

"Aaaaagh" Someone screamed in pain.

"I... I don't know! Do you think I would be here if I know where it is? Just let him go, he has nothing to do with all of this!

Amber, who heard the whole dialogue took the risk and peeped into the room. One man was standing near the entrance with his back pointed towards her. He was holding a pistol that was aimed at Brian, who was standing in front of the desk. On the other side of the room was another big guy with multiple scars on his face in his hand was a giant hunting knife where blood was dripping down the blade. He was standing right next to the director who was sitting in his chair holding his left shoulder with a pain distorted face.

"Then say, why are you here if not for finding the treasure?"

Her gaze went from the room towards the exit of the museum.

"I could simply run away and leave Brian and those thugs behind." This thought quickly came to her mind.

The exit sign never looked more inviting than now but in spite of that, she decided to take action and safe their lives. She unhooked an extinguisher that hung on the wall nearby and prepared herself to storm the room. Everything in her body and mind screamed not to do it, to just run away and to forget about all that happened.

"Good if you don't want to talk then I'll probably need to relief your friend here of one of his fingers."

The guy behind the desk took an arm of the director and firmly held it on the table while placing his knife on one of the fingers. A thin red line already formed on the spot where he put it on.

"I said I don't know where it is!"

"Three"

Every muscle in Ambers body tensed up, it's either now or never.

"Oh god, please no. Say it to him I don't want to lose my finger!"

"Two"

"What should I say I don't know, let this poor man go!"

"O.."

He couldn't finish the word one that Amber dashed out from her cover with the extinguisher in her hand. Everything ran in slow motion for her, with one big swing she knocked the henchmen with the gun unconscious when Brian immediately reacted and grabbed the weapon he let fall and pointed it towards the guy with the knife who immediately took cover behind the director. The knife was at his throat showing that he can kill him at any time.

"Why did you come back Amber it is too dangerous here."

"If you didn't want me to be here, then you shouldn't have involved me in the first place"

"Well, touchè can`t deny that."

"Have you two lovebirds finished talking there?" The guy who was ducked behind the director interrupted their discussion.

"You are right. Let him go or I'll shoot you and your colleague here." Brian indicated the unconscious guy on the floor.

"No, no, no. You'll give me the information that I want and I'll let him go. And about the guy on the floor, if you want to kill him then go for it."

Amber and Brian exchanged eye contact and nodded.

"Okay but first you let him go."

"There is no way I'll do that, as soon as I let him go you'll shoot me."

"And what will guarantee us that you'll let him go if we give you the information you want?"

As soon as she opened her mouth to make a suggestion, she felt a strong pain on her head. Blood was running down into her eyes and obstructing her sight while the floor came rushing with high speed right towards her until she crushed into it. Her whole body felt the impact, letting her groan from the pain rushing through her limbs

"No, Amber!"

She could faintly hear Brians screams and multiple shots being fired before she finally lost her consciousness.
