Dr. Proctor and the Fossil Pokémon

Today the gang had come to an island called Wales Island. Wales Island was crescent shaped, and it was filled with forests for Pokémon to live in. Ashlyn and May called Wales Island a great place for training their Pokémon. Once they docked onto Wales Island, May got out her Bulbasaur and Swablu at once; she wanted to train them today. Bulbasaur and Swablu had grown more a bit over the months and they learnt lots of new moves. Her Bulbasaur had learned a lot from Oren (Venusaur) which she was thankful towards Ashlyn.

So while Ashlyn, Alain, and May were training their Pokémon, Brock and Max were left alone to set up lunch. Max went into the forest to collect firewood.

===============================

A few minutes later, the others heard Max's screams, and they ran over to see if he was okay. Max told them that he saw a Cradily.

"A Cradily?" Ashlyn asked.

"Are you sure?" Alain asked.

"Positive." Max confirmed.

"If you saw a Cradily here, then how did it get here?" Alain pondered.

"Do you think it's possible that someone revived a Root fossil?" Ashlyn questioned.

"That might be possible." Brock answered.

"How about we go look for it?" Ashlyn suggested.

"Don't sound like a bad idea." Alain agreed.

Then they heard May's stomach grumble.

"Can we have lunch first?" May asked.

"I guess we could." Brock replied.

So the gang decided to have lunch before looking for Cradily.

==============================

After they finished lunch, the gang went off to find the Cradily that Max saw. So far they haven't had any luck finding it.

Suddenly they saw Cradily by some bushes.

"No way!" May gasped.

"This is impossible!" Brock gasped.

They were amazed to see a Cradily and they realized that Max was telling the truth. Just then a pretty woman, wearing a lab coat, came up to Cradily. Ashlyn remembered that her name is Annie Proctor.

"There you are Cradily," Annie said, "Come on, you need to come back to the lab now." She noticed the gang, "Hello there, what are you all doing here in the forest?"

Suddenly Brock's eyes turned heart shaped and was right in front of Annie and grabbed her hands in his.

"Well hello there, gorgeous. My name's Brock. You must have a beautiful name that matches your radiant beauty." He flirted.

Max grabbed Brock's ear and started pulling him away, "Well your name doesn't match up with your intelligence." He dragged the Kanto breeder away.

"OW! MY EAR!" Brock yelped.

Annie and the others sweat-dropped at the scene.

"So do you know this Cradily?" Ashlyn asked, changing the subject.

"Why yes. My husband and I take care of all the fossil Pokémon here." Annie replied.

"Fossil Pokémon?" May questioned.

===========================

The woman led the gang to the lab, when they met a man who introduced himself as Professor Proctor and that Annie is his wife, much to Brock's disappointment.

When the gang saw the Lileep, they were amazed. Another amazing was that there were four Anorith in the lab. Anorith were bug and rock type fossil Pokémon, and they nearly looked like brine shrimps.

Ashlyn took out her Rotom phone and scanned Anorith:

[Anorith, the Old Shrimp Pokémon. Anorith once inhabited warm seas and is believed to have used its two well-developed hooves to capture prey.]

"Excuse me but how did you get these Lileep, Anorith and the Cradily?" Brock asked.

"We revived the Lileep from fossils." Annie replied.

"What fossils do they come from?" May asked.

Prof Proctor explained that Lileep came from Root Fossils and he told them that Anorith came from claw fossils. He even showed them some Root and Claw fossils that they were going to revive in a minute; there were five each of them.

"Wow those fossils sure look different than the Sail, Dome and Old Amber fossils." Ashlyn commented

"You're right." Alain agreed.

"Huh?" Prof Proctor said, "you two know about those fossils?"

Ashlyn explained that she had two Aurorus's and an Aerodactyl and Brock had an Kabutops. Both Professor Proctor and Annie were speechless after hearing that. Alain, May and Max weren't because they already knew; they heard about Ashlyn and Brock's fossil Pokémon not long after they started travelling together. Prof. Proctor thought Ashlyn and Brock were lucky.

"My wife and I hope we can find Helix, Dome and old Amber fossils to revive Kabuto, Omanyte and Aerodactyl," Prof. Proctor said, "You see, my dream is to revive lots of fossil Pokémon and turn this island into a tourist attraction so people could come and see the ancient Pokémon."

"That sounds like a wonderful dream." May beamed.

"I would definitely want to come here when it opens." Max added.

"That sounds wonderful, Professor. But it may be best that you don't do that." Ashlyn advised.

"Hey what are you saying, Ashlyn?" May asked.

"Ashlyn is right," Brock agreed, "You see, we got our fossil Pokémon from the Grampa Canyon in Kanto. There are people used to dig to search for fossils, but one day Team Rocket, a group of criminals, tried to capture the fossil Pokémon for themselves for evil doings. And because of that it's forbidden to hunt for fossils there now."

"Yes and if you show Lileep, Cradily and Anorith to the public, bad people will go after them." Alain added.

"Yeah, they're right." May agreed.

"I forgot about that." Max realized.

Ashlyn and Brock had told Alain, May and Max about the incident at Grampa Canyon before. Professor Proctor and Annie started to think that Ashlyn and Brock were right and that maybe they should keep their fossil Pokémon a secret.

Just then one of the Anorith started scuttering around its pen all of the sudden.

"Hey, what's wrong with Anorith?" Max asked.

Annie checked on the Anorith's health on the computer. "It's going to evolve." she replied.

She was right; Anorith evolved into a big sort of insect with a long tail and big claws.

"It evolved into Armaldo!" Professor Proctor beamed, excitedly.

Ashlyn looked at Armaldo on her Rotom phone:

[Armaldo, the plate Pokémon. The evolved form of Anorith. Its enormous, retractable claws can cut through most anything. Its entire body is clad in sturdy plates.]

"Wow, what a Pokémon." Alain said, in amazement.

Professor Proctor and Annie were happy to have another evolved fossil Pokémon.

Suddenly a crash burst through the wall of the lab, and a big machine entered.

"What's going here?" Prof. Proctor asked.

"Sorry about the crash," said a female voice from the machine, "but we are here to pick up your fossil Pokémon."

"I know that voice," Ashlyn said, crossly, "It's Team Rocket!"

The machine had strong mechanic arms and it grabbed Armaldo, the three Anorith, Cradily and the three Lileep and placed them inside the machine container.

"Thanks for the Pokémon," Meowth said, "Bye!"

The trio left in the machine.

"Come back here!" Prof Proctor shouted, running after them. Annie and the gang started to run after the machine too.

==========================

Prof Proctor, Annie and the gang were having trouble of catching up to Team Rocket.

"We'll never catch up to Team Rocket at this rate!" Max yelled.

"Then we will have to make them stop, and I know how! Idris!" Ashlyn released her shiny Salamence from her Pokéball.

Idris roared as she appeared.

"Idris, Draco Meteor!" Idris fired an orange ball of energy into the air, and then the ball exploded into small orange spheres, and they rained down towards Team Rocket's machine. Team Rocket had trouble driving through the Draco Meteor attack, without crashing, and then they came to a sudden stop.

"Now Idris, use your Dragon Claw on the machine to release the Pokémon!" Ashlyn ordered.

Idris flew up to the machine, used dragon claw on the container, where the Pokémon were being held, and after a few scratches Idris released the Pokémon. Armaldo, Cradily, the three Anorith and the three Lileep were happy to be free again. Team Rocket was not happy with that, and they got out of their machine.

"You will pay for that twerp!" Jessie shouted.

"Tesla, Thunder Shock! Idris, Flamethrower!" Ashlyn ordered.

Tesla and Idris launched their attacks which hit them and sent them flying into the sky.

"WHY?! Why can't we ever win?!" Jessie exclaimed.

"But all I really wanted was to have something ancient!" James whined.

"Alright then, here's something for ya' that's really getting old!" Meowth remarked.

Wobbuffet appeared, "Wobba!"

"TEAM ROCKET'S BLASTING OFF AGAIN!" The trio shouted before they disappeared into the sky.

DING!

The machine was left unharmed, and the gang went to check it out in case Team Rocket had stolen anything else. Max noticed the bag and saw that it was filled with Helix, Dome, Root and Claw and old Amber fossils. Max showed this to Prof Proctor and Annie at once and the two professors were amazed with this.

"Now we can revive Kabuto, Omanyte and Aerodactyl at last!" Prof. Proctor cried out in happiness.

"Just be careful with Aerodactyl, because they can be tricky to handle." Ashlyn warned.

"Don't worry, Ashlyn we will," Prof. Proctor assured her, "After today's events Annie and I have decided not to reveal the fossil Pokémon here to the public."

"Yes we would not like to have more people come here to steal them and search the island like crazy for fossils." Annie added.

The gang agreed that was a good idea.

Just then Armaldo and Cradily went up to Ashlyn and spoke to her, in their Pokémon language.

"I wonder what they are saying?" May pondered.

"I have a pretty good guess." Prof. Proctor conclude, "Ashlyn, could you take Armaldo and Cradily with you?"

Ashlyn blinked in confusion and shock, "Huh? Are you sure?" She questioned.

"The truth is they want to become strong like Tesla and Idris and so they want you to train them, Ashlyn." Prof. Proctor answered.

The gang was surprised by that.

"But they're yours. I can't just take them like that." Ashlyn protested.

"It's alright," Prof Proctor assured her, "Its best you do take them. Armaldo and Cradily were always itching for a battle when they were still Anorith and Lileep. Unfortunately, Annie and I aren't really the battle type. So Ember, I want you to have them and train them to become strong Pokémon."

Ashlyn stared at Armaldo and Cradily and smiled. "You can count on me to do that." She said, and then she captured them in Pokéballs. The Pokéballs were transported to Prof Oak's lab.

"I just hope that Prof Oak doesn't get a heart attack from seeing them." Ashlyn chuckled.

Alain chuckled, "I think he'll be ecstatic to see them." He stated.

"Lucky." Max muttered.

"Also, as a thank you, I would like to give you all some of our fossil Pokémon." Prof. Proctor offered.

Alain, Max, May and Brock accepted the offer.

=================================

Prof Proctor and Annie decided to revive some fossils and give the Pokémon to May, Max, Brock and Alain as thank you for helping them get their Pokémon back. Both Max and Brock asked to have a Lileep and Anorith each. May asked for a Lileep because she thought Lileep and its evolved form, Cradily was beautiful, and of course Alain asked for an Anorith. So it was arranged; Prof Proctor and Annie revived three Anorith from three Claw fossils, revived three Lileep from three Root fossils, and gave them to Brock, Alain, May and Max. So everyone was happy.

==========================

After that, the gang left Wales Island, promising Prof. Proctor and Annie that they would never reveal the secret about their fossil Pokémon. They continued on their way to Purika City where May's next Pokémon Contest is.
