Pokémon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea

Out in the middle of nowhere the gang were struggling with walking. It was a blazing hot day, and the gang was very thirsty because they didn't have any water on them. And the worse part was they were lost.

"Oh I wish we were at a town already. I'm so thirsty I could drink a bath full of water." May added.

"If we don't find any water soon, I fear I'm going to shrivel up like a raisin." Ashlyn commented.

Just then the gang saw some big watery bubbles floating in the air.

"Is that a mirage?" Alain asked.

"Let's check it out." Brock decided.

When the gang went to see what the bubbles were, they saw some water Pokémon swimming around in the big bubbles and a girl with blue hair was with them. Ashlyn recognized the girl as Lizabeth.

Max ran up to the girl, "Hey could we have some water, please?" He asked.

"Sure, okay." Lizabeth replied.

"Thank you!" Max cheered.

Max started sucking on a bubble until a Gorebyss poked him away. The Politoed next to Lizabeth started clapping happily.

"Hi there, who are you?" Lizabeth asked.

The gang introduced themselves to Lizabeth.

"We've been traveling and got lost somehow." Alain stated.

The gang looked at the water bubbles with wonder.

"So they're using Psychic to make water bubbles. Impressive." Ashlyn commented.

"I agree. You don't see many trainers doing these kinds of tricks." Alain agreed.

Brock was observing Lizabeth and her family as they work around their trailer. Then he slammed his fist into his palm which meant that he figured out something.

"You're in the Marina Underwater Pokémon Show, correct?" Brock asked, smiling.

"That's right." Lizabeth replied.

"And your name is Lizabeth, and you're the star of the show." Brock said.

"Right again." Lizabeth confirmed.

Brock clamped his hands together happily, "AWESOME! The name is Brock, my dear. I happen to know all about the Marina Group!" He quickly took out a blue book from one of his pockets and flips through it excitedly, "Here! It's my blue book." He revealed two pages that had Lizabeth's pictures on it, "There. See? You're the tippy-top of my all-time favorite stars list." He put away the book, "This has got to be destiny, meeting you here like this! Yes, take my hand." He holds onto Lizabeth's hands, "And now that we're holding hands, I would love to go on a swimming date with you and all your wonderful Pokémon... Aah!"

Max grabbed Brock by the ear and began pulling him away, "Now that I'm holding your ear, I'd like to take you away."

Then Lizabeth's grandfather came up to them, "Lizabeth, what's wrong?" He asked.

"Grandpa, it's okay. These people were on the road and got lost." Lizabeth assured him.

May clapped her hands together happily, "You must all be her family."

Lizabeth introduced her family; Meredith her mother, Kyle her father, and her grandfather, Shep.

The family invited the gang into their home, which was a trailer and a wooden boat on wheels; this family were travelling performers. There was also a non-speaking clown living with them. But Ashlyn knew that the clown was really Jack Walker, aka Jackie, a Pokémon Ranger. The gang were delighted to get something to drink, since they had been out in the hot sun for ages.

"Oh that was refreshing." May beamed once she finished her glass of water.

"I've never petted a Buizel before." Max commented as he petted a very friendly Buizel who nuzzled against him.

"Buizel really likes you." Meredith commented.

"Anybody ready for some more?" Lizabeth offered more water for the gang.

The gang answered 'yes'.

The Ashlyn and May notices Buizel hopping up to a bunk bed, going up to the top bunk where a canister lays. It presses a button, and it clears up, revealing a mysterious Egg. Ashlyn recognized that egg of a Manaphy.

May stares at it for a while before Kyle comes by and closes the curtain that was partially covering the bunk, "Excuse me." He said before leaving.

"Your show sounds really cool." Ashlyn commented.

"What do you do in it?" Max asked.

"Would you like a sample?" Shep offered.

"Yeah!" The gang accepted.

=============================

The show starts off with one large sphere of water being created, as a Seaking and Dewgong are let inside. Then the Meditite and Medicham then split the sphere into two, and soon Kyle and Meredith, dressed like tropical fish, join in the act by diving in. Several more spheres are created with an assortment of water Pokémon getting inside of them before Lizabeth, also dressed as a tropical fish, jumps in and rides the Dewgong to the top, clearing out and then jumped back in.

Meanwhile, the clown walks around, wearing a Sharpedo get-up. As he's juggling a few balls, a group of Goldeens in small water spheres come near him. He uses the Sharpedo costume to "eat" the Goldeen, but then acts out as if it has indigestion, and the Goldeen pop out on the other side. The gang was watching near by the trailer nearby, and soon they were pushed into water spheres of their own, with everything combining into one. Then the Meditite and Medicham began surrounding the large water sphere with energy, before it exploded into steam, with the performing family and the gang at the bottom, and all the water Pokémon in their own bubbles, ending the show.

============================

The family offered to give the gang a lift to the next town on their caravan, and the gang accepted. It was the next morning came and everyone was having breakfast, May told everyone all about her dream last night.

"A temple in the sea sounds wonderful." Ashlyn commented.

"Rai." Tesla agreed.

"Yeah, but it was just a dream." Max pointed out.

"Father." Kyle said.

"I've heard of stranger things than that." Shep stated.

Lizabeth and her family stared at each other.

"Tell me, have you ever heard of the People of the Water?" Meredith asked.

"I don't think we have." Alain replied.

"Who are they?" Brock asked.

"You two do the honors." Shep requested.

Lizabeth and Meredith glanced at each other and smiled. Then looked back at May.

"Truth is, I've had exactly the same dream." Lizabeth admitted.

"Oh?" May blinked.

"You see, our family is made up of descendants of the ones that have been called the People of the Water, a race of people that travelled the oceans and lived in harmony with all water Pokémon." Meredith explained.

"Right. And there aren't that many of us left." Shep concluded.

Kyle nodded, confirming Shep's statement.

"Amazing." May awed.

==========================

The group were now on their way back to the trailer, bringing the table, chairs, and other things they brought down with them when they ate.

"In order to receive the ocean's blessings and show their gratitude to the water Pokémon, our ancestors built what has been called the Sea Temple." Shep explained.

"That was what you saw in your dream, May." Lizabeth concluded.

"The People of the Water still see the temple in their dreams." Meredith stated.

"A memory written straight in your DNA?" Brock said, awed.

"Amazing." Alain commented.

"Then if May had the dream, then that means May and Max must be descendants of the People of the Water too." Ashlyn theorized.

"You really think so?" Max asked.

"Now Ashlyn had mentioned it, Buizel easily befriended Max and May had a dream about the temple. So it could be true." Alain suggested.

"Could be. Why not?" Shep questioned.

Suddenly they all heard noises coming from the trailer.

"We better check that out." Ashlyn suggested.

When they got to the trailer, they noticed Team Rocket standing on top of the trailer. Jessie had Manaphy's egg in her hands. The funny and weird thing about them was that Jessie had James's voice, Meowth had Jessie's and James had Meowth's.

Ashlyn's eyes glowed blue and the container was outlined blue. The canister flew out of Jessie's hands and into Jackie's. Jackie nodded his head 'thanks' to Ashlyn.

"How about we send them off?" Alain suggested.

The trio flinched at that and started running away. They soon escape to a balloon, with a cycle driven propeller.

"I wish I could give them a little payback." Ashlyn commented.

"I'll do that." Jackie offered.

He looked around and saw a Fearow sitting in a tree, and then he took out a capture styler and used it to catch the Fearow.

"Fearow, I need your help. Break that balloon!" Jackie ordered.

Fearow flew after the balloon and pokes its beak at it, causing a hole to appear. Then James, Jessie and Meowth flew off into the sky.

"WE'RE BLASTING OFF AGAIN!" The trio screamed as they flew out of sight.

DING!

"You were a great help, Fearow! Thanks a lot!" Jackie waved at Fearow before it flew away.

"Since that's a Capture Styler, that means you are really a Pokémon Ranger, right?" Ashlyn said to Jackie.

Jackie took off his clown hat and red nose, "Jack Walker," He winked, "Call me Jackie, please."

============================

Jackie had changed out of his clown costume and makeup and put on his Ranger uniform. He placed a few props into a box and stood up as he addressed the group, "I'm on a mission right now. And the Marina Group is helping me out with it in a big way."

"Glad to help, Jackie." Shep said.

"What's so important about that container?" Max asked.

Jackie revealed the egg to the gang. "This is a Pokémon egg, and it's an egg of the legendary Pokémon, Manaphy." he said.

"Manaphy?" May asked.

"Oh I've read about Manaphy before," Ashlyn said, "Manaphy is a legendary water Pokémon. It's also known as the Prince of the Sea, which is funny to me really because I always thought Kyogre was the ruler of the sea."

"A common mistake, because it's really Manaphy that is said to be the ruler of the sea." Jackie stated, "My mission is to see that this Manaphy egg gets properly hatched and then delivered to Samiya, the Sea Temple."

"Then that temple must be what I saw in my dream and that mysterious Pokémon I saw in my dream must have been Manaphy." May realized.

"You're lucky, May." Max said.

Suddenly Tesla began to growl and Buizel hid behind Lizabeth's leg.

"What's wrong, Buizel?" Lizabeth asked.

"Trouble." Ashlyn and Alain responded.

Suddenly trouble arrived. Some helicopters turned up. Ashlyn knew that those helicopters belonged to Phantom, a criminal who's searching for the Sea Crown.

"They must have followed us all the way here." Jackie concluded.

"We've got to hurry and get back to the trailer." Shep said, panicking.

Two Beedrills were sent out of a helicopter, and they chased the group.

===============================

During the chase Ashlyn, Alain and Jackie split up from the others. Phantom and Calen (Phantom's henchman) went after Ashlyn, Alain and Jackie to get the egg.

"Pokémon Ranger! Now I suggest it's time for you to learn the meaning of "give up" once and for all." Phantom advised.

"A Pokémon ranger never gives up. It's a shame you have to travel here all that way, but I'm afraid you have to go home empty-handed." Jackie replied cheekily as he pulled a sheet out and covered the container with it. Then he, Ashlyn and Alain ran off again.

"Why, you impudent..." Phantom trailed off as he and Calen chased after the three.

"Why you impudent." Phantom's Chatot repeated.

Ashlyn, Alain and Jackie ran around a boulder. Jackie quickly handed the container to Ashlyn as he held a fake one. Then Alain and Ashlyn stayed behind as Jackie ran ahead.

"Come back here!" Phantom demanded, still chasing after Jackie.

Phantom was too caught up with his chase with Jackie that he didn't notice that Ashlyn and Alain secretly ran another way holding the real container.

=====================================

Soon enough Ashlyn and Alain caught up with May and Max.

"We have to get out of here and away from these pirates." May said.

Just then Calen turned up. "You think you're so smart," he mocked, "Beedrill, Pin Missile!"

"Tesla, use Thunder Shock!" Tesla shot her electrical attack at the Pin Missile attack, causing a small explosion.

May and Max tried to run away again.

"Beedrill, stop them with Sludge Bomb!" Calen ordered.

Beedrill launched its attack and Ashlyn and Alain got knocked off their feet and the container flew out of Ashlyn's arms.

"Grab it, May!" Ashlyn shouted.

May heard Ashlyn and caught the container.

"Get back to the trailer! These men are after the egg!" Alain ordered.

May and Max and ran ahead while Alain, Tesla and Ashlyn stayed behind to fight the Beedrill.

==================================

May and Max ran as fast as they could with the container. Suddenly the egg began to glow.

"Do you think it's going to hatch?" Max asked.

Before his question could be answered, Phantom turned up. "That egg belongs to me," he said, "Give it to me."

"No, Manaphy doesn't belong to anyone!" May shouted.

"Anything that doesn't have an owner belongs to me." Phantom replied.

Max tried to fight Phantom, while May tried to stop him from taking the container.

During the struggle, Phantom accidentally ended up opening the container and the egg flew out. May quickly jumped in and caught the egg before it hit the ground. Suddenly the egg started to glow very brightly; this meant it was going to hatch.

"May, give that to me!" Jackie ordered, running past everyone.

Phantom grabbed hold of him to stop him, "It's mine!" He growled.

"It's mine!" Chatot repeated.

It was then that the egg hatched into a blue Pokémon with stubby feet, two long arms, a pair of long antennae and a red gem and yellow dot on its chest. This Pokémon was Manaphy. May was surprised with what happened, and the baby Manaphy started to cry.

"Oh, no. It's okay. Yes, everything's going to be just fine. Just fine." May assured Manaphy.

"The egg hatched." Jackie said with disbelief.

"But I was gonna use my own two hands to hatch Manaphy." Phantom whined.

"You would be a terrible father." Ashlyn commented.

At that moment Meredith, Kyle, Ship, Lizabeth and Brock turned up with the trailer.

"Come on, let's go!" Jackie announced.

Everyone ran to the trailer at once. Phantom tried to chase them, but Jackie managed to trick him into running into Calen. So everyone got into the trailer, and they set off to get away from the pirates.

=============================

In the trailer Manaphy was still crying and May tried to calm it down. "There, there, Manaphy its okay, it's okay," she said, gently rocking it, "Don't cry, sweetie. Don't cry, sweetie. Don't cry."

A minute later Manaphy had calmed down and fell asleep in May's arms.

"I think we're finally calming down." Lizabeth commented.

May sighed, "Phew, what a relief."

"I can take over for you now." Meredith offered, holding her hands out to May.

"Thanks." May handed Manaphy to Meredith.

But as soon as Manaphy was in Meredith's arms it began to cry again. May took back Manaphy and then Manaphy stopped crying and went back to sleep again.

"I think Manaphy prefers you, May." Meredith commented.

"Well May, this means you're a mother now." Ashlyn said.

"Huh?" May blinked in confusion.

"Often, whoever a Pokémon sees after hatching is assumed to be its mother." Alain stated.

"So I'm a... a mom?" May asked.

"Yup." Ashlyn confirmed.

Suddenly Tesla sensed trouble was outside. Alain opened up the roof of the trailer and he saw the helicopters. "They're back!" he warned everyone.

Kyle picked up more speed to get away, but two of the helicopters launched grabbling hooks to the trailer to stop it from getting away. Ship came into the trailer from the front car and told everyone to leave the trailer at once. Once everyone got into the front car, Shep unlatched the trailer. The two helicopters got out of control, but they unleased the wires and the trailer fell down a cliff. Kyle was able to speed up without the trailer and he drove into a forest.

==============================

The group soon arrived at the ruins. They quickly got out of the car and entered the ruins. In the ruins, the group walked to what looked like a dead end. Ship held up his bracelet of crystals to a red gem on the stone wall. The crystals glowed and then the gem revealed an ancient combination two circled lock. Ship unlocked the lock by spinning the circles and opened up a secret passage.

"Do you kids have any water type Pokémon?" Shep asked the gang.

"We do." Alain replied.

"In that case, it's your turn." Shep said.

As it turns out, the reason for that was there was a tunnel of water in the passage and everyone had to swim from here.

==========================

By now everyone was riding on water Pokémon through the tunnel. Ashlyn and Tesla were riding on Sebastian (Crawdaunt), May on Squirtle, Brock on Swampert, Alain on Sharpedo, Max on Buizel, Jackie on a Politoed, Shep on Seaking, Kyle on Dewgong, Meredith on Poliwrath and Lizabeth on Gorebyss. They arrived at an underground ruin. Kyle flipped a rock switch and the underground ruin lit up like magic. There was an ancient painting of a temple, Manaphys, the ocean and shadowed people on the walls.

"Hey that's the temple I saw in my dream." May commented.

"That's the Sea Temple, Samiya." Lizabeth explained.

The family explained there was an ancient treasure in the Sea Temple called the Sea Crown, and many thieves had tried to take the sea crown for years. To protect the temple and Sea Crown, the people of the water set some traps in the temple, so now the temple couldn't be seen by anyone because it blended in with the water. One day, the temple was carried away by the tides and the temple had drifted along the ocean continuously ever since, making it impossible to find. However, the temple would appear only at the time of the total eclipse of the moon, and that was when the people of the water used to hold their festival to honor the water Pokémon.

"Wow a temple that travels the ocean by itself, amazing." Ashlyn awed.

"But if this temple can't be seen, then how do you find it?" Brock asked.

"Manaphy can find it." Lizabeth replied.

She explained that the temple was built where wild Manaphy lived. Shep explained that ever since the temple started to move about freely the Manaphy had been born with homing instincts that allowed them to locate the temple at any time no matter where it was.

"So that is why those pirates want Manaphy so badly," Ashlyn said, "they want it to find the Sea Temple so they could take the Sea Crown."

"We must protect the sea temple at all costs." Shep confirmed.

"We must also protect Manaphy at all costs, especially from the crusty old codger with the beard." Jackie added.

"Excuse me Jackie, but who was that pirate we were fighting earlier?" Alain asked.

"That was Phantom the pirate, a real mean dude." Jackie answered.

"I think the word 'mean' is an understatement for that dude." Ashlyn commented.

"I was going to go with 'pure evil' instead." Alain added.

Now the gang knew what was going on, they knew that Manaphy was in real trouble.

===============================

The group were now riding small rowing boats down the river and into a cave.

"I want to thank you kids for helping me up to this point," Jackie thanked the gang, "but once we get out of this grotto, I will be leaving with Manaphy. You kids have gotten too far in this, and this is a mission only for a Pokémon Ranger."

This meant that Jackie didn't want the gang's help anymore. This didn't feel right to the gang because they still wanted to help Manaphy.

===============================

The group soon reached a dock. Shep was keeping an eye out for a boat he owned. When Shep was a young man, he used to travel all over the world on his ship 'The Blue Lagoon'.

===============================

Once the ship arrived, Shep thanked his old friends Gabu, Dabu, and Zabu for taking care of his ship all this time and told them that he, his family and Jackie were going to travel on it for a while. The three men wanted to go with them too, but Shep reassured them they would do this journey alone. He didn't tell them they were going to Samiya. Gabu, Dabu, and Zabu and the gang bid their farewells to the family and Jackie once the boat started to leave. Jackie held onto Manaphy, who was asleep all this time.

Even though Jackie had told the gang to leave the rest of the mission to him, the gang was not happy with not getting to go with them.

"I wanted to know more about Manaphy." Max stated.

"I wanted to see the undersea temple too." Ashlyn added.

"And there's so much more I want to learn about Lizabeth!" Brock whined.

"It's frustrating just seeing them off like this." Alain admitted.

"Jackie should let us help him get Manaphy to Samiya," Ashlyn stated, "With those evil pirates about, he won't be able to keep Manaphy safe by himself, never mind get it to the temple safely."

"But what can we do?" Brock asked.

"I feel so strange. What is it?" May asked herself.

Suddenly May heard Manaphy's cry and became worried. Gabu, Dabu and Zabu turned to the kids.

"Being young means you never turn away from adventure." Zabu said.

"What are you afraid of?" Gabu asked, "this is your only chance."

"If you want to go, then you should go." Dabu advised.

"There is nothing worse than regrets, kids." Zabu added.

The gang agreed with Gabu, Dabu and Zabu and they started to run after the ship calling out 'we want to go with you!'

=================================

On the boat Jackie was trying to calm down Manaphy, when suddenly Manaphy let out two pink orbs of light energy from its antenna. One went into Jackie, and the other one went all the way to Alain, making them glow pink for a second. When the light died down.

"This is weird. What in the world is happening to me? What am I doing here?" Alain or Jackie questioned.

"Jackie?" Ashlyn asked.

"Raichu?" Tesla tilted her side.

Then Jackie (in Alain's body) ran up to the end of the pier and waved his hand.

"Hey! You forgot me! Stop that ship!" 'Jackie' yelled.

Then he sighed and shrugged, "What are you gonna do?"

"Don't worry, I have a feeling they're gonna come back and then you and Alain will return to your original bodies." Ashlyn assured him.

'Jackie' let out a sigh of relief., "That's good to know."

Tesla jumped onto his shoulder. He chuckled and scratched underneath her chin.

===============================

Once the gang was on the boat, with Manaphy calming down with May around, Jackie explained to Alain what had happened. By now Alain and Jackie were back in their own bodies, much to their relief. What happened what Manaphy had used a move called 'Heart Swap' which had an ability to swap two souls with each other. That was why Alain's soul was in Jackie's body and Jackie's soul in Alain's body. But it wears off after a while. May figured Manaphy did that because it didn't want her to leave.

"Manaphy, you make me so happy." May beamed, giving it a cuddle.

"Happy, happy." Manaphy chirped, suddenly.

The gang couldn't believe it that Manaphy was starting to talk, and it made May happier.

At that moment Kyle, who was driving the boat, stopped the boat. He told May to release Manaphy into the sea now. Jackie explained that Manaphy had to swim by itself now, while the group just watched and follow it. May wasn't sure about this, but Manaphy was eager to swim in the ocean and it jumped in right away. Kyle started up the boat again so everyone could follow Manaphy.

"Manaphy will travel the entire ocean until it finally reaches its home, the sea temple, all by itself." Shep explained.

"But how can Manaphy know where to go, when it hasn't even been there before?" Max asked.

"It's a Pokémon instinct thing," Ashlyn replied, "for some unknown reason Pokémon always seem to where they have to go and how to get there, even at migration time, even though they had never been there before, and no other Pokémon had taught them yet."

"But that doesn't make sense." Max pointed out.

"No and it never will." Alain agreed.

"A Pokémon instinct is a very strange thing." Brock commented.

================================

So everyone started to follow Manaphy, on the boat, while Manaphy led the way to Samiya. Along the way, they met up with many, many wild water Pokémon as Wailmer, Wailord, Luvdisc, Remoraid, Mantyke, Mantine and Lapras. Mairin pointed out that Misty would have loved this, if she was here, because of her love for water Pokémon. Shep and Kyle kept an eye out for the night when the lunar eclipse came. Jackie kept a sharp lookout for Phantom and his crew in case they turned up again, but so far they hadn't yet. May and Manaphy's mother and child bond grew stronger over the days, and May taught Manaphy how to say 'love you'.

==================================

One day, when everyone was taking a break and having a swim, Ashlyn and Alain had a talk with Jackie.

"Hey, so, why'd you become a Pokémon Ranger in the first place, Jackie?" Alain asked.

"I was a kid." Jackie began, "I got stuck, and these Pokémon saved my life. I was hiking up in the mountains when a sudden blizzard came up, trapping me. It just kept blowing harder and harder. I thought that was the end for sure. I'd never experienced bitter cold like that before. When, all of a sudden, this group of migrating forest Pokémon was there. And one by one, they started to gather 'round me, like a bunch of hot-water bottles." He paused, "If they hadn't been so kind to me back then, I wouldn't be here today. I guess I wanted to be a Pokémon Ranger ever since." He concluded.

"I understand that because I went through something like that myself." Ashlyn understood.

Ashlyn explained to Jackie that when she was five years old, she got lost in a forest and it was raining hard. When she took shelter under a tree, some wild Pokémon were outside in the rain. There was an Oddish, Weedle, Caterpie, Rattata and Butterfree. Ashlyn called them over to take shelter with them and they did.

"Cuddling up to the wild Pokémon made me decide that I defiantly wanted to become a Pokémon trainer so I could catch many Pokémon friends and other things like that. Oddly enough, Tesla entered my life nearly a year later." Ashlyn finished.

"I see." Jackie understood.

================================

Over the days Jackie kept watch on May and Manaphy's bonding and it made him concerned. Ashlyn and Alain easily noticed his concern.

One day he spoke to Ashlyn and Alain. "Ashlyn, Alain, I need you two to do something for me," he requested.

"What is it?" Alain asked.

"I need you to please help separate May and Manaphy. If those two get closer and closer to each other, Manaphy won't want to leave, and then it will never become the prince of the sea and leader of all water Pokémon." Jackie replied.

"I hear what you are saying Jackie, but I can't do that," Ashlyn refused, "May and Manaphy like each other very much. And the time that May and Manaphy can spend together will be over when we get to Samiya because they will never see each other again after Manaphy starts living in the temple. So May and Manaphy should still be close to each other while they still have the chance."

"I can't do it either, Jackie. It would break May's heart if we do so." Alain explained.

Ashlyn understood this because of the time she had being close to Lucario was over in a flash after he died. Jackie was just about to say something but then May interrupted.

"You don't have to worry," May interrupted, "Ashlyn, Alain, Jackie is right, Manaphy is to be the leader of all water Pokémon and I cannot be with it forever. I'm alright with that."

Then she left.

Ashlyn already knew that May wasn't all right; she didn't want to be separated from Manaphy.

===================================

All through the rest of that day May kept her distance away from Manaphy, even though Manaphy wanted May with it. Lizabeth went to comfort May; she had heard everything too. As soon as Lizabeth pulled May into a hug, May started crying.

As soon as May stopped crying, Lizabeth gave her something to make her feel better. She gave May her bracelet of the people of the water's crystals.

"I want you to have it, May." Lizabeth said.

"Thank you, Lizabeth." May thanked her.

=================================

The next day all was still peaceful. Shep was excited because today was the day of the lunar eclipse and he and the family wanted to see Samiya. Ashlyn, Alain and Max went to feed Manaphy.

Manaphy was looking for May, but May was still trying to keep her distance away from Manaphy. Ashlyn knew what May was doing and thought this was wrong. To lighten the mood, she and Alain sent out their Pokémon to play with Manaphy. Thanks to Ashlyn and Alain's Pokémon, Manaphy started to have a good time. May just watched Manaphy far like usual, but then as she was putting on her bandana the wind made the bandana fly into the sea. Manaphy saw May's bandana and went after it. However, the bandana got caught on a Sharpedo and Manaphy had to swim after it to get the bandana back.

===============================

Hours went by and Manaphy didn't come back yet. Lizabeth and the gang were getting worried, and they decided to go and search for Manaphy. Shep kept a mini submarine on his boat for exploring under the sea and he said to Lizabeth that they can use it to find Manaphy.

"You must be careful." Shep warned.

"Don't worry grandfather we will be back safely with Manaphy." Lizabeth assured him.

Lizabeth and the gang got into the sub and set off to find Manaphy.

===============================

In the sub, everyone looked carefully for Manaphy.

"Manaphy, where are you? It's me. I'm right here. Please be okay." May prayed desperately.

Ashlyn knew that May was worried for Manaphy and feared that Manaphy ran off because she had kept her distance away from it all this time.

"Raichu!" Tesla called out.

Ashlyn and Alain spotted Manaphy swimming over to the sub.

"Manaphy!" Ashlyn smiled.

"There you are." Alain added.

"Where did you go?" May asked.

May saw Manaphy holding her bandana, "My bandana! Wait, is that what you were looking for, Manaphy?" She asked.

Manaphy smiled, "Mana! Happy. Love you."

May placed her hand on the window where Manaphy was, "And I love you, too."

"And that's what happened. Manaphy was just looking for May's bandana." Lizabeth informed.

"[Now, that's some great news. Of course, you'll all be back for supper.]" Shep said.

"[In that case, I could use a little help.]" Meredith spoke up.

"[Me?]" Shep gawked.

"Don't worry. Brock and I will cook as soon as we get back." Lizabeth assured her family.

But suddenly the sub was caught in a strong current and Lizabeth found it hard to control the sub. Jackie and Lizabeth's family saw what was happening on the radar and feared for the kids' safety. Manaphy swam up to the sub, called out to May and then swam away from the current.

"I think Manaphy wants us to follow it." May suggested.

Lizabeth fought for control of the sub and thanks to Manaphy they got out of the current safely.

"You can count on the Prince of the Sea to lead us in the sea safely." Max commented.

Everyone was grateful to Manaphy.

At that moment the lunar eclipse was full and then like magic a temple appeared in the sea.

"It's Samiya!" Lizabeth gasped.

==============================

Upon arriving at Samiya, Lizabeth and the gang got out of the submarine and stared at the temple.

"I don't believe it," Max awed, "We're under water, but this temple isn't flooded at all."

"It must because of that shield we just went through." Brock guessed.

"It probably keeps the water out, so this temple doesn't sink." Alain suggested.

"Manaphy! Manaphy!" May called out.

Manaphy jumped into May's arms at once. May was happy to see Manaphy and she apologized to it for leaving it alone. Lizabeth and the gang decided to check out the temple at once. It was beautiful with water fountains everywhere, a real sight for sore eyes.

At that moment Manaphy started to sing, and while it sang the crystals on Lizabeth's necklace and May's bracelet lit up and the temple sounded like it was responding to Manaphy's song.

"It must be the People of the Water." Lizabeth realized.

Then a waterfall parted ways like magic revealing a secret passageway. Manaphy jumped out of May's arms and swam away, and everyone followed.

==============================

They soon came to a chamber of the temple which held a stone pillar with some ancient writing on it.

"This is the sign of the Sea Crown." Lizabeth said.

"What does the writing say?" Max asked.

"I don't know, Max. Maybe Grandpa can read it." Lizabeth suggested.

"I can translate for you kids." said a male voice.

It was Phantom and his Chatot.

"It's the least I can do to thank you for leading me here." Phantom offered.

The kids were not happy to see Phantom.

"You have no power here," Lizabeth said, "this temple only belongs to the People of the Water."

"I know all about the people of the water," Phantom stated, "and this writing says 'Beyond this door, which may only be open with the People of the Water's mark, lies the crown. Whoever shall wear this crown shall be known as King of the Sea'."

He revealed his people of the water's mark to the kids and said we went through a lot to obtain it. Lizabeth hated to think what the phantom did. Phantom held his crystals again the pillar and both the crystals and the sea crown mark on the pillar lit up, and then the pillar sunk into the floor and revealed a combination lock, like the one back at the underground ruins, on the wall. Phantom unlocked the lock and then the wall opened up a secret passageway. Phantom ran ahead and the kids followed him.

==============================

The secret passageway led to a chamber and in this chamber was a big stone, shaped like a layer cake, with light blue crystals sticking out of it and a big watery bubble surrounding it. It was the Sea Crown.

"Beautiful." Ashlyn whispered.

"Finally, the Sea Crown and it is all mine." Phantom declared.

The kids couldn't believe how gorgeous the Sea Crown was.

"There are two types of men in this world," Phantom grinned, "those who look good with rare jewels and those who do not. For my money the Sea Crown and I are a match made in the heavens."

Manaphy jumped out of May's arms and swam in the watery bubble around the Sea Crown; it was happy to see the Sea Crown. Suddenly Phantom grabbed hold of a crystal and started to pull it out.

"Hey, you can't take that!" Ashlyn shouted.

"I risked everything to capture the Sea Crown," Phantom said, "and from now on it belongs to me."

Suddenly the watery bubble surrounding the Sea Crown burst and water started coming in like crazy, flooding the room. Because the Phantom had removed a crystal, Samiya was now in danger. Truth is the Sea Crown is what made the big bubble shield that protected Samiya, and with a crystal loose the bubble shield was now leaking water in the temple.

"We have to get back to the sub." Lizabeth decided, who knew that it was too dangerous for them to stay.

Ashlyn wanted to stay and stop Phantom, but with how things were this was no time to argue. So the kids ran away while Phantom stayed to take more crystals.

As the kids ran, they ran into Jackie who made it to the temple.

"Everybody okay?" Jackie asked.

"Jackie!" Max gasped.

"Where's Phantom?" Jackie asked.

"Back there. He took several crystals from the Sea Crown." Alain replied.

"And all this water started coming in." Brock replied.

"I'll take care of Phantom. You get out of here." Jackie ordered and then he gazed at the rising water, "The temple is sinking."

"It's sinking?!" May exclaimed.

"Lizabeth, take care of everyone." Jackie ordered.

Lizabeth nodded, "Right."

"It's bad in there, Jackie." Ashlyn warned.

"Don't worry, Ashlyn. I'll be fine. I'm a Ranger, right?" Jackie winked as he gave her thumbs up to assure her.

Jackie ran off to find Phantom while the group ran to get back to the submarine.

================================

Lizabeth and the gang had made their way back to the submarine. Things were starting to look really bad for Samiya now. Ashlyn and May were about to enter the sub, when suddenly Manaphy jumped out of May's arms and swam back into Samiya. May started to run after it and Ashlyn followed. Lizabeth, Alain, Brock and Max had to leave in the sub at once because the waves were getting rough. Manaphy swam all the way back to the Sea Crown and tried to pick up a crystal itself.

"Manaphy must want to save the temple since this is its home," Ashlyn said, "Let's help it, May."

"Lets." May agreed.

She and Ashlyn swam and ran to the Sea Crown and started to put the remaining crystals back, but since the last crystal was missing because of Phantom Ashlyn and May were at a loss. Suddenly more water came into the chamber, and they had no choice but to run away from it.

=================================

While they were running, Tesla noticed the lost crystal resting in a fountain.

"Raichu!" Tesla called out.

Ashlyn and May also noticed it. Then Ashlyn grabbed it at once.

"It must have floated here by the water," Ashlyn said, "We better get back to the sea crown and put it back."

Suddenly a big wave of water headed their way and Ashlyn and May ran away at once. They ran to get back to the Sea Crown. By now the way to the chamber where the Sea Crown was flooded.

"What should we do?" May asked, worriedly.

Just then Ashlyn saw the life pod, which Team Rocket used to get to Samiya. She placed May, Manaphy and Tesla into the pod, shut the door and locked it.

"You stay there," Ashlyn said to them, "I'm going to put this crystal back." And she left.

===============================

Ashlyn was swimming her way to the Sea Crown; she had none of her Pokémon with her because she left her Pokéballs behind on the boat, so she had to rely on herself to safe Samiya. Once she arrived at the chamber of the Sea Crown she first went up for some air. Then she swam all the way down to the sea and put the crystal back into its place. Once Ashlyn did that, the whole Sea Crown began to glow yellow and then yellow tentacle-like auras began spreading about.

====================================

At that time Jackie, Lizabeth and the boys were making their way to Samiya to help Ember and May. It was then they saw thousands of wild water Pokémon heading towards Samiya. It seemed they knew the temple was in danger and came to help. Brock thought that Misty would definitely have liked this if she was here. Suddenly Max saw a Kyogre.

"Hey its Kyogre!" Max gasped.

On the surface thousands of Wingull and Pelipper was flying in the sky. At that moment Samiya made its way to the surface. Kyle, Meredith and Ship were awestruck when they saw the temple. May, Manaphy and Tesla got out of the life pod, happy to see the temple was all right again.

"Ashlyn did it, she saved the temple." May said, sadly.

"Rai." Tesla said, ears drooped.

"Mana." Manaphy chirped sadly.

Suddenly Phantom came out of the ocean on his torpedo and grabbed Manaphy. "As long as I have you with me, I can always find the temple. I will claim the temple and the Sea Crown."

"Manaphy!" May called out.

Just then Ashlyn burst out of the ocean, surrounded by yellow aura.

"Hey Phantom, I'm taking Manaphy back!" Ashlyn declared.

"You are? Let's see you try." Phantom taunted.

Ashlyn followed after Phantom. He kept trying to avoid Ashlyn. The yellow aura made Ashlyn able to swim in the water very fast, jump high out of the sea like she was flying and breathe under water. It was like Ashlyn was using Aqua Jet.

"Hey, it's Ashlyn." Meredith said.

"But how?" Kyle asked, surprised.

"Whoever shall wear the sea crown shall become King of the Sea," Shep recited, who was watching Ashlyn with Kyle and Meredith, "It is the touchstone between the People of the Water and the water Pokémon."

"Or in Ashlyn's case, Queen of the Sea." Meredith commented.

Because Ashlyn had repaired the Sea Crown, the Sea Crown had made Ashlyn the king of the sea (or queen in this case) and given her the power of breathing underwater and swimming very fast.

The wild water Pokémon came to help Manaphy. First a large school of Remoraid and Wailord and Wailmer distracted Phantom. Then Kyogre pushed Phantom out of the water. Ashlyn saw her chance and grabbed Manaphy out of Phantom's arms.

"Thank you very much!" Ashlyn taunted before she went back into the water.

"Don't worry, you're okay, Manaphy." Ashlyn assured the Sea Prince.

Manaphy was grateful to Ashlyn and the water Pokémon for saving it.

But Phantom wasn't down yet. His sub and crew had turned up and he was riding on top of the sub. Galen sent out supersonic waves from the sub and all of the Pokémon went into a confused state.

Ashlyn could also somehow feel their confusion which was starting to hurt her as well.

To stop the confusion, Manaphy used Heart Swap and it helped snap all the Pokémon out of their confused state. Then Manaphy ordered all of the water Pokémon to attack Phantom's sub. The Wailmer and Wailord pod tackled the sub, some Mantine attacked Phantom with Bubble Beam, and then a school of Chinchou swam into the electrical chamber of the sub and they electrocuted it with Discharge. Phantom's submarine lost all its electricity, and the crew didn't know what to do. Last of all Kyogre attacked the sub with Hyper Beam, destroying the sub and the helicopters.

Phantom stood amongst the destruction and revealed that he wore a Mecha suit, which explained why he processed brutal strength. "There are two types of men in this world," he said while holding a big pillar from his sub, "those who are completely crushed and those who do the crushing. I am not the type who gets crushed."

Unfortunately for him, his Mecha suit broke, and he got crushed by the pillar because he no longer had the strength to hold it. So Phantom and his crew were defeated.

=================================

Ashlyn and Manaphy swam to the mini sub, where Max, Alain, Brock, May, Jackie, Lizabeth and Tesla had been in all this time. Everyone was glad to see that Ashlyn and Manaphy were okay.

Alain placed his hand on the glass as Ashlyn placed her hand on the glass where Alain's was. The two smiled softly at each other. They were both relieved to see that the other was alright.

====================================

Soon enough, Lizabeth and her family and May, Max, Alain, Brock and Tesla got surrounded by the yellow aura and swam underwater with all the wild water Pokémon. Everyone had a great time. Somehow, they all formed a crown all around Samiya. Seeing both Manaphy and Samiya safe made Jackie know that that his mission of protecting Manaphy from Phantom was over and he contacted his headquarters and told them the mission was completed.

===================================

That evening the big bubble shield surrounded Samiya and it began to make its way under the water. It was time for Manaphy and the temple to leave. Manaphy and May hugged each other one last time because it was time for them to say goodbye to each other.

"I'll never forget you Manaphy and don't you forget me either, Manaphy." May promised, who looked like she was about to cry.

"Love you May," Manaphy said, "love you, Mama."

"I love you too, Manaphy." May replied, smiling sadly.

Then Manaphy dived back into the ocean and swam away with the temple, never to be seen again.

"I'm gonna miss Manaphy." Max said.

"Yeah." Ashlyn agreed.

"May, are you alright?" Max asked.

May shook her head, "No, I'm not all right. But I will be." She admitted.

Ashlyn knew that May was going to miss Manaphy a lot, but she would never forget it.

Suddenly Ashlyn remembered something. "I nearly forgot to say this, sorry," she said to everyone, "when I was still next to the Sea Crown, this came out of it after I put the crystal back." Ashlyn took out a crystal sort of whistle from her pocket.

"What would a whistle be doing in the temple?" Max asked.

Ashlyn blew into the whistle but nothing, not even a sound, happened.

"That whistle must be broken if it doesn't make any sounds." Lizabeth guessed.

May took the whistle and had a go blowing in it. This time it made a light humming sound.

"Hey that sounded like Manaphy's singing." Max said.

At that moment there was a light glow coming from the ocean, and then a Manaphy came out of the ocean.

"What, Manaphy?" May gasped, in surprise.

"Wait that's not our friend Manaphy," Ashlyn stated, "that's another wild Manaphy."

Everyone was surprised.

The Manaphy leapt into May's arms. "Hey what are you doing here?" She asked.

"I think I know," Shep spoke up, "You see, there is another part of the legend with Manaphy and the people of the water. I never believed this part was true but now it does seem to be true."

Shep explained that in the time of the people of the water, whenever a member of that clan protected the temple of the sea and the Manaphy that person would be rewarded with their own Manaphy by the Sea Crown.

"What?!" Everyone cried out.

"Wait a minute though," May interrupted, "Ashlyn was the one who helped put the temple right, shouldn't she have this Manaphy?"

"Ashlyn may have helped the Sea Crown but she is not a descendant of the people of the water," Shep stated, "and besides May you cared for Manaphy, kept it from harm and did everything you could to help it."

"Grandpa is right May," Lizabeth agreed, "besides, you were the only one that could make a sound out of that whistle, and that Manaphy has become attached to you."

May couldn't believe it, but at the same time she was happy. Even though this Manaphy could never really replace the Manaphy which saw her as a mum, she promised to take really good care of it, and she hugged it with happiness. So May got to keep a Manaphy after all and this time for always.

================================

With Samiya safe, the ocean and all the water Pokémon were at peace again. Phantom and his whole crew were arrested by the police and were condemned to stay in prison for life for all the crimes they had done. With the mission complete, Jackie could now leave the area to explore somewhere else for his next adventure. Phantom's Chatot was no longer Phantom's Pokémon, and it became Jackie's Pokémon. Team Rocket, who had made it to shore, were relieved to be back on safe dry land again. Lizabeth and her family went back to the port town with the gang, and the gang bid farewell to the family and Gabu, Zabu and Dabu to continue on their journey. As for Manaphy, it lived a new happy life with the water Pokémon in Samiya.
