Chapter 35 Blind Date

"Can you see it? That was the scar from the surgery I had," Eliz gave a light laugh, but there was a heaviness in her heart.

"Liz, I will never let you get hurt again," he murmured, looking deeply into Eliz's eyes.

Pierce acted like a real gentleman. With utter gentleness, he helped Eliz get out of the bath after she had washed up. Although they didn't talk much, they seemed to have some connection between them in an instant, and there was a tacit understanding that wasn't there before.

After the bath, Pierce gently patted Eliz's body dry and helped her put on the bathrobe.

Sitting there coldly, Eliz said angrily, "I don't want you to help me dry my hair as you did with that other woman from before."

"Eliz Navarro, watch your behavior, okay? You're my woman but you are not my only woman. Some things are not of your concern."

The Palomar Family and the Aleotti Family were old family friends. For the sake of his parents, and the interests of the Banca Monte Dei Pasci Group's bank, Pierce indulged Teresa very much, but he had never slept with her. His first woman was Eliz.

Pierce abruptly rolled over from Eliz.

"I have something important to tell you but you have to promise me that you won't be angry with me after you hear it," Eliz said and looked at him.

"Last week I went home, and my mother asked me to go on a blind date, Eliz bit her lips and looked at Pierce.

"A blind date? Wonderful! Why not?" Pierce spoke with his tongue in his cheek. It took him a lot of effort to suppress his anger.

"Why not? Maybe you'll end up marrying a rich man after abandoning me," Pierce

said sarcastically.

"Tell me the time and location."

"Starbucks, Crystal Street, Eaton Square. I originally planned to go there after work tomorrow night." In one breath, I give you half an hour for that blind date.

"No... I'd better not go there," Eliz was having second thoughts as a hint of hesitation flashed through her eyes.

The idea of Eliz seeing other men didn't sit well with him but knowing her mother would be needing an explanation, Pierce finally relented. "What are you afraid of? I let you go this time. Do you understand?"

"I know... I understand," Eliz responded.

As the sun rose the following morning, Eliz was not herself that day.

Jamon, who had stayed in the hospital for some time, was scheduled to be discharged today. So after Eliz had reviewed all his medications, she went to re-examine him for the last time.

Eliz was very busy that day. At half-past four in the afternoon, she finished the last operation.

It was the first time that Eliz had intentionally put on displeasing make-up. Upon seeing her make-up in the mirror, she was shocked to think that this make-up.

At Starbucks

"Are you Mr. Ricci?" Eliz asked in a shy manner. Eliz wore red glasses. Her face was covered with "freckles," and her skin was black and white. Her make-up, at the moment, looked very weird.

Justin was shocked when he saw the girl in front of him. However, upon taking a better look, he knew that the girl in front of him was none other than Eliz.

"Are you Miss Navarro? Please have a seat!" Justin said courteously, forcing himself to calm down.

At that moment, Justin finally realized that Eliz must have come on this blind date unwillingly. The reason she was behaving so rudely and awkwardly was that she wanted to sabotage the blind date so that he'd get turned off by her.

Justin sat startled as he listened to their conversation. He couldn't believe that someone had referred to Eliz as sister-in-law. He began to wonder if she was already married.

"Cheers! Sister-in-law!" the stranger said to and then left with a cup of coffee in his hand.

Eliz tried hard to hold back her laughter. Then she turned around and looked at Justin. "A cup of mocha please!" a familiar voice said, reverberating in the quiet coffee shop.

'It is Pierce!' she thought excitedly.

Eliz shrugged her shoulders and suddenly stood up and said, "Mr. Ricci, it's very nice to meet you but I think we are not destined to be together. I sincerely hope that you can find your true love. Goodbye."

Justin sat still with a blank look on his face. "Goodbye," he replied flatly. He thought to himself, 'We will meet again Eliz.

She almost ran out of Starbucks. The moment she walked out, she felt like she could finally breathe. The whole date thing had left her feeling suffocated.

She patted her chest and saw Pierce looking at her silently. Quickly, she made her way towards him.

"You drive." As soon as he finished speaking, Pierce turned around and walked towards his car.

Before their premarital cohabitation, Eliz had instituted a series of rules for Pierce. Firstly, no third party was allowed to know about this. Secondly, their contract would last for one month. Finally, the contract would expire one month later. From then on, they would have nothing to do with each other. Pierce counted the days. He realized there was only a half month left.

At No. 520, Haibin Road

The night was quiet and eerie. After coming back, Pierce went directly into the study with a scowl on his face.

"Miss Eliz, why are you here?" Pierce had told Lillian specifically that Eliz wasn't allowed to enter the study or the other locked rooms. She was free to enter the others.

"I wanted to bring him a glass of milk." Eliz motioned to the glass, biting her lip.

Lillian dragged Eliz back to her room in a hurry. After they entered another room, Lillian said in a low voice, "Miss Eliz, Mr. Aleotti has told us that you can't go to the study. Besides the study, another room is forbidden to enter. The room in the middle of the third floor with a white door coated with gold. Miss Eliz, except for these two rooms, you can go anywhere you want."

"Why?"

"I didn't know why but Mr. Aleotti said so, Miss Eliz don't ask," Lillian persuaded kindly.

"Okay, I know." Eliz placed the milk on the nightstand. She was not curious about it, and she knew that she should obey the rules.

Later that night, Eliz had a long dream.

With her vision blurred, she couldn't see who the person was. She only heard him call out her name softly, "Liz."

His magnetic voice was like the sounds from heaven, which gave Eliz a strong sense of security in an instant.

"Oh, my God! Rico, is that you? Am I dreaming?" Eliz asked tentatively, feeling relieved.

"It's me. Don't be afraid. I'm here!" Rico said.

'Rico?

Who was he?' Pierce thought to himself.

"Rico, take me out. It's so scary here," Eliz said in a pitiful and pleading tone.

"Really? It's so scary here but where do you want to go?" Pierce's thin lips moved strangely with a sneer on his angular face. He wanted to butt in.

Thinking that Eliz was yelling out another man's name in her dream, and she had even asked that man to take her away from here, he was fuming mad.

"Leave here. I want to go home." Eliz began to move her arms anxiously.

"Go home?" There was a hint of playfulness in Pierce's voice. The next second, he smiled indifferently. "In your dreams."

The mist finally disappeared, and Eliz could only open her eyes slowly as they were tired.

There was a hint of coldness across Pierce's face. He was staring at her with his murderous eyes without saying anything.

"Who is Rico?" Pierce demanded point-blank. His deep gaze turned dark and indecent as he watched Eliz's guilty look intently. Fury began to consume him.

Without warning, he ruthlessly seized her neck with his cold and dangerous hands. There was no mercy in him. Eliz was pinched so hard that she couldn't breathe at all. Her face turned red, and her eyebrows had already been twisted into a ball. It was so painful that she could not make a sound.

"Eliz, you seriously are something! You have been dating another man while living with me! And... You even hooked up with your old lover." There was disdain in the voice above her head, which was followed by a horrifying coldness.

"I didn't" Eliz manage to choked a few words.

"You didn't? Then you tell me who Rico is?" Pierce's eyes seethed with anger.

"Rico... is my friend. She was my girlfriend back when I was studying abroad. I mean it, seriously," Eliz pleaded.

Pierce pinched her hard with his fingers, but he loosened it a little when he heard the word "girl."

"I hope what you said is true. If you dare to lie to me, I will lock you in a psychiatric hospital," Pierce warned her as he lowered his fingers.

Pierce would do what he said, and he always meant it. She mentally noted. If Pierce would sends her to a psychiatric hospital, then Eliz would be ruined for the rest of her life.

Before Eliz could react, she heard the door slamming hard, making her tense again. She only saw Pierse quickly walking away.
