Chapter 20
Tipsy, but not drunk he stood up and staggered to the door turning it open. He almost froze.
The sight before him tore him to pieces.
Jerome was carrying her in his arms and she looks somewhat half dead, her eyes had become puffy and her once white- creamy face had become pale and red.
"You're excused" he whispered to Jerome as he carried her away from him, closing the door behind him. He placed her gently on his bed sitting beside her, her body was so cold.he lifted his hand and touched her forehead, it was hot burning from fever.
"Damn it!" He growled.
He contemplated on if he should leave her and meet Brenda in the kitchen or to patiently wait beside her and await Brenda. He stood up deciding to run down to the kitchen before her fever worsen. He opened the door and dashed out of his room heading to the kitchen.
In what seem like seconds, he finally got there. He met Brenda still preparing it.
"Are you done" he questioned.
Brenda flinched and turned to face him, she was suprised at the sight before her. Master Cole in the kitchen, that was easy too odd. Her heart raced heavily thinking he was going to fire her.
"I'm sorry, I had actually came down to prepare it immediately Jack had informed me about it. I assure you it won't take up to five minutes and I'll be done" she replied fearfully.
"Oh, it's okay, just Carry on with whatever you're doing" he said relieving her of her fear , astounding her also.
"Is there anyway I can help" he asked shocking her beyond disbelief.
"No...sir... I'll be fast about it ". She replied shaking her head in disapproval.
Cole leaned in the kitchen door waiting anxiously for the soup. His mind drifted off to Tracy. " God, please get her out from this" he prayed silently. He scrunched up his face simpering realizing he had just prayed, he hadn't done that in months if not years.
"Sir, here it is" Brenda said interrupting his thought, handing him the already prepared soup.
He collected the mug that contained the fever soup from her, thanking her as he hurried back upstairs to his room leaving her stupefied.
Brenda gawped her mouth wide opened, she had never been this suprised. What's up with Master Cole. She thought. Firstly, he hadn't pick offense at her lateness. Secondly, he had offered to help and lastly he had thanked her. She shrugged her shoulder and resigned back to her room.
Cole opened his door with the soup in his hand, he met Tracy tossing restlessly on the bed, he walks to her placing the soup on his trolley. He pulled her up against the hard wall of his body and cooed her watching as she became quiet. He thought about waking her up to drink the soup but seeing how calm she had been, he backed against it. He still tried waking her but she wouldn't budge. An idea crossed his mind, he carried the soup from his trolley scooped two spoons inside his mouth and forced her mouth open pouring it inside like he was kissing her making sure she gulped it down. He repeated the process over and over again till she finished the soup. Then he placed her back on the bed covering her with his blanket, he kissed her forehead and turned to leave when she held his hand and muttered. " Please don't leave me, stay with me".
He stilled then turned to face her for a moment, he thought she had woken up but her eyes were still closed and she was still tossing that was enough proof to convince him that she was still asleep.
"Emily, please hang on!" She cried still tossing.
Cole pulled out one chair and sat close to where she was sleeping. He held her hand and she suddenly stopped tossing. She held tightly tightly to his hand as if she was somewhat scared that he'd be leaving her any moment.
"I'm never leaving you" he whispered assuringly, pecking her lightly on he forehead again. He wonder who Emily was to had made her this restless.
He stared at her face, taking in her features. He pushed away some light strand of hair that was glued to her face. She had turned sweaty due to the soup he had fed her. He silently prayed she'd recover before the next day.
Tired of staring at her face, he placed his head on her laps closing his eyes as sleep overtook him.
