Beyond my imagination

Chapter 4

After a few good sessions and attending a radio interview I rushed over to meet my last patient for the day. He sat there with a coffee mug between his hands, looking outside. I froze at the door looking towards him, for that moment he looked like an angel, the same guy I met during my college years and fell for instantly.

After clearing my thoughts I rushed over placing my tablet on the table. He looked up with fragile eyes, turning his gaze towards me, smiling. I really couldn't understand what this man wanted from me, what were his intentions and what the heck was he thinking as he stared at me without a word being said, I literally waved my hands in front of him a million times.

If only back then he hadn't hurt me, if only he hadn't run away, and if only he choose to fight for our relationship maybe just maybe I wouldn't have hated the butterflies I had in my tummy as I looked into his eyes.

" how may I assist you today?" I say looking towards him

" I really needed to see you Liya, I missed you so much."

"what?"

"I..."

"no I heard what you said, but according to the file I have you're here for counseling…not a confession session so please be professional."

"Liya, I wanted to explain myself."

"I don't need your explanation, but I'll keep it decent since we colleges. Please don't cross the line…your time is up, see you in your next season."

After getting up and leaving the restaurant, all those hurtful memories replayed themselves in my mind as I walked through the snow…what hurt the most about seeing him, was all the good memories he gave me…I suddenly did not want them in my heart

After so many years of so-called healing that conversation with him felt like nothing has progressed over the years. I look at my clock before dozing off into sleepy land due to my exhaustion... let's hope tomorrow isn't this bad.

" Why didn't you hesitate to not marry me?"

" Knowing my mother she choose someone suitable for me, you're not the first to propose just so you know."

If only she knew, I'm not the man I dress up as and present myself to everyone. I have a dark past, millions of secrets...

"is there' something I'm missing?" she asks turning away from me.

"nothing, have you thought about my offer?"

"I'll accept it now that we're kind of a couple. By the way, I know about your little stalker behavior. Not a surprise though, since I've been secretly watching you too."

She smiled leaving the office, I chuckle a little thinking about how distant we were a few days ago. Turns out I wasn't the only one who fell. So if she's been watching me does it mean that she knows about my terrible lifestyle, my addictions, and my weaknesses. I hope it doesn't drive us apart in the future.

" my parents, they divorced, nothing out of the unusual."

" Finally, they were at each other's throats every single day…aren't you happy I'm back though?"

"happy, I'm ecstatic!" I say hugging him, " it's good to have you home."

"Feels good to be back, anyway its time for my shift Liya won't be happy if I arrive late, I'm already a black seed amongst her crops."

He rushed out leaving his jacket behind, Lord knows why the kid returned out of nowhere...
