Chapter 10

“ do you take her to be your wife?” I answered yes three times…I sat there watching her waiting for her to change her mind, but she went through with the procedures. Zhareefah was officially my wife, after all those years of watching and wishing and being told im not good enough, she finally accepted my proposal.

We proceed to the traditional ceremony, since she was mixed race her grandmother's wish of having an old white British wedding was permitted. I stood there in my tux, sweating through my beard, waiting for my queen to arrive. After everyone settled in, and the flower girl dressed as a fairy…we didn't have the church ceremony because of the religious difference but said our vows as her grandmother asked for then rushed over for a simple dinner. Once the night was over I picked my bride up watching her laugh as we took the car to our newly bought home. No more lonely nights, or sad breakfasts.

Did I mention how beautiful she looked walking down the aisle dressed in her white gown, I felt like no one was more meant for me than her, she was really God sent…the woman Allah wrote down from me. There was nothing more that I could ask for.

“here, have some tea. All that junk food won’t be easy to digest, ” I grab the mug smiling

“ are you happy?”

“you don’t have to worry about me, I’ll be the most obedient wife ever. I just hope you don’t mind me being caught up during clothing seasons and what not…im still trying to accomplish my dreams.”

I nod looking toward my mug as I watched her return back to unpack the few goodies brought home….

~ The next day~

“How's the married life treating you?”

“ well, he's actually really quiet most of the time…I guess we'll see how it goes.”

“ Okay, update me then don’t want to keep you away from the hubby go cook now, ” I say ending the video call.

I cried when she had to leave, I was a sad little potato…I cried more then her parents cried for her, she was like the baby of our group…never strayed, never hurt anyone, never chased after boys, was always busy building up her abaya brand and what not…it was like my child left the house I felt like a mother who had to watch her little hatchlings leave the nest.

I watch my mother walk in with Daneen, since she arrived I hardly did any housework...she pulled me towards the dining room grinning, they were obviously plotting something.

“ blind date!”

“yes, I don’t want you stuck alone forever…besides you promised to give me grandchildren didn’t you?” I watched my mother look up to me with a picture of a guy on her phone.

“ but you off all people should know that I’m not interested in getting hitched again…”

“you’ll never know until you try your luck…do it for me, besides look how strong and handsome these men are. You see each of them during the week it’s only 3 people…then you’ll tell me if you like any one of them…”

“mother I, but…fine!” I say scanning their accounts, as Daneen laughed at me eating all the candy I bought.
