"May I talk to you for a moment, Doctor Mari?"
Rose glanced at Mari, her warm green eyes turned cold as she stared hard at Prince Azu. Rose can feel the tension building up making her feel nervous, she is greatly worried on what is going to happen between them but it's better to not get involved in this matter.
Rose silently bid goodluck to Mari, Oh god may help her.
"I must head inside," Rose said breaking the silence, turning her head to face Mari, she gave the girl a smile, "I expect you to be there too, Mari. After you talk to his majesty."
And with that she opened the large doors and went inside the Queen's office. Lavender colored walls with white petals adorning it, Queen Rhea's office is much more larger than the other doctors' office, her antechamber is much more spacious, she has her own laboratory where she makes the medicines, an examination room connected to her main office with a wall divided the two rooms. Doctors have their own examination room but Queen Rhea's is much more bigger.
Rose stood patiently inside the antechamber waiting to be called in, she looked around the room adoring the interior design, black couches were placed to the side, a small table beside it, different sizes of paintings on the walls, bookshelf near the door, and a large window where you can see the garden on the outside, she approached the window and observed the patients from children to elderly having fun in the garden, girls picking flowers, boys running around playing tag, and the elders playing chess or talking to each other.
Moments later she heard the door opened, Rose turned around and see the Queen's servant giving her a smile.
"Oh I see that you are here Doctor, you should've knock on the door," She said. Rose returned her smile, she knows she should've knock but she was waiting for Mari to come inside, it seems that she have taken her sweet time talking to Prince Azu.
"Yes, I am aware, I apologize. I was just waiting for Doctor Mari to come inside but it seems that both of them have taken their sweet time chatting." Rose walked up to the servant, "well, I must head in for I do not want the Queen to keep waiting any longer,"
The servant bowed as Rose went pass her, before opening the door she took a deep breath, hoping the Queen doesn't get mad at her. She twisted the knob and went inside, there sat the Queen looking through the papers and writing something down on her journal, Rose shakily closed the door behind her and slowly approach the Queen's table.
"You asked for me Your Majesty." Rose bowed down showing respect, Queen Rhea stopped in writing and smiled at Rose.
"You may rise." She stated, Rose stood straight, steadying her heart from beating so fast, she cannot understand why she is feeling so nervous, yes she have been talking to the Queen about medical situations but being called with no reason makes her feel all this nervousness.
Did she do something wrong in giving treatment to the patients? That is her main question to this situation, she thinks that she haven't done a job well done in curing patients.
"Calm down." Queen Rhea stated placing down her pen, "I assume you already know why I called you here?"
Rose's eyes widened and let out a nervous laugh, she should've listen to Mari on the way here. She mentally slapped herself for being so stupid, why in the bloody hell she did not listen and got distracted by overthinking.
"I apologize, Your Highness. I—"
"It's alright." Queen Rhea giggled, "A letter arrived from Serene."
Rose raised a brow, it's rare for His Highness from Serene to send a letter, what confused Rose more is that Queen Rhea us telling her about this.
"May I ask what the letter is about?" Rose asked curiously, this must be about a medical situation for the Queen is telling her about this secret matter.
Queen Rhea handed her a beautifully designed blue letter card with gold color to it. Examining the card, Rose traced her fingers to it mesmerized by the letter card, she slowly opened the letter and read what is inside it.
To my dearest Queen Rhea,
My dear cousin, I am hoping that I am not disturbing you by sending this letter. If you are wondering why am I suddenly writing you a letter is that my dear son is in devastating state, he suddenly lost sight in his left eye and is struggling. I had seek help to our Imperial Doctors and have told me that he is poisoned, our doctors tried to figure out what kind of poison my son have gotten but to no avail, they do not know. I am seeking for your help my dear cousin to cure my son, please I am begging you.
I will wait for your reply.
Your cousin,
Queen Sina.
Rose suddenly felt a chill down her spine and her hands were shaking a bit, her heartbeat increased as she read the letter. This little gesture caused the Queen present in the room to smile, she knows Rose loves adventure and encountering rare to unknown poison makes her excited.
"So?" She asked in a happy tone, raising a brow to the now giggling Rose.
"I—"
"Will send you there and figure out what kind of poison my nephew has, find a cure, then come back home."
Home.
What a beautiful word, well at least for her. Some people hated that word and understands them as they felt pain through the years and they are finding their true home as they met people that made them feel that they belong.
And as for the Queen saying that to her she felt her heart warmed, she gave the Queen a nod.
"Why did I have to be a queen." Queen Rhea whined, taking out a green letter card and a pen from her drawer. "Oh and take a seat Rose, you've been standing there and you must be tired from all the traveling and walking."
Rose took a seat on a leather chair, calming her nerves down she thought of travelling yet to another kingdom and this time it's Kingdom of Serene, the biggest kingdom among the 4 kingdoms of Alvarez.
A knock suddenly emerged in the silent room, Rose and Queen Rhea looked at each other.
"Come in." Queen Rhea called out and when the door opened it revealed Mari and Prince Azu. The Queen raised a brow at her son and Mari. Mari getting uncomfortable with Queen Rhea's stare, Rose decided to break the awkward silence that filled the room.
"15 minutes." Rose stated in a stern voice, seriousness plastered around her face she glared at the prince and the late doctor standing still in the doorway, "why are you late, Mari?"
"It's that—"
"Prince Azu, such fine gentleman, strong and respected. Do not expect that I will treat you with the same respect others have given you for I am different." Rose stood up from her seat and walked up to them. She had have enough of these nonsense, every morning disturbing Mari at work, this place is not a park, he will have a mouthful from her!
The Queen on the other hand smiled proudly of what Rose is doing, Rhea have not only taught her about the arts of medicine and poison, she also taught Rose how to stand up for herself. Growing up without a mother to teach Rose and so she treated the child as her own. Rhea taught her everything she needs to know, from dancing to fighting, from singing to speak out for herself and the people, from being a noble to a warrior. Rhea felt her heart pumped in pride witnessing Rose in action against her son. She truly had taught Rose well.
"Sister—"
"Don't you dare pull that card out Azu." Rose warned making the prince straighten his posture, "Mari, step aside."
Mari didn't argue as she went to the side wishing goodluck to the prince. She's greatly confused as to why Rose is acting like this in front of the prince and not to mention Queen Rhea is present in the room.
Rose looked up to Azu as he is much more taller than she is, hard brown eyes staring to his blue cold ones.
"Now tell me Azu," Rose said, "what took you two so long?"
