Chapter 8

We exit the office and were met by a little reception office on the way out; there was a guy there typing something on computers, when he noticed our presence he stopped and looked up.

"What can I help you with?"

he asked with a stoic look on his face, the guy wore a black suit his eyes were cold and calculating under his black-framed glasses, I shivered this guy means business, and judging from his expression his probably irritated, we interfered with his work.

"Oh come on 4 eyes lighten up we're just passing through, no harm was done...sheesh." Zero groaned tucking his hands in his pockets and burst into a laughing fit

"Why you little!!" The guy exclaimed as he slammed both of his hands into the table while standing up "Can't I get just one day without you hollering like a damn kid who wants attention?"

The guy complained while popping a vein, Zero took the chance to snatch the guy's glasses and put it on himself and put it on himself with a serious look, he imitated the guy.

"Zero stop being a kid, Zero don't do this don't do that, Zero blah...blah...blah."

He gestured with his finger making a no sign like he was lecturing a kid

"Hey Zero look at me, I'm a busy guy always cramming over reports and stuff like a grown man should be."

He continued but this time with a stupid expression and a dull tone; like an old man's voice that has cancer. I couldn't help but giggle at his little display; the guy, however, was not enjoying it one bit in fact he was fuming, his face was hot red both hands bailed, probably trying to stop himself from murdering Zero too soon.

"Uhmm...Zero!" I called out trying to make him stop before the guy actually kills him but he ignored me and made a duh...expression, that probably ticked the off because before I could blink; the guy launched at Zero strangling him back and forth

"You stupid, ungrateful son of a" he roared choking Zero, even more,

a sweat dropped 'Are they always like this?' I thought

"Uhm...Zero." I called out making the guy stop strangling him, he looks at me with a confused expression on his face

"who are you?!" he asked letting go of Zero, his body fell to the floor with a loud 'thud' making him groan in pain

"Uhmm...I...Uhmm." I stuttered from the menacing glare he was giving me, I fidgeted with my fingers trying to be as small as possible from the towering lion.

"She's the recruit," Zero answered in a raspy tone while standing up

"Come on bunny; introduce yourself."

He commanded his tone returning to its natural accent

"Oh....yes...sorry; I go by Midnight." I introduced; extending my hand for him to shake, he looked at me suspiciously but he took my hand shaking it

"So the rumors were true, the infamous Midnight really did join us but I didn't expect to see a scrawny 15yr old." He chuckled letting go of my hand and grabbed his glasses from Zero

"You either a genius or a total idiot if you decided to join this organization but I do pity you though, you're too young in this kind of work." The guy started straightening his glasses "and seems like the demon spawn is fond of you." I looked down to see the feline sitting beside me and he seems bored with our conversation.

"If you guys are done introducing yourselves, can we go?!" Zero interrupted

"Don't think I'll let you off the hook with your little charade from earlier." The guy threatened making Zero smirk

"Yeah, yeah whatever Zen." He groaned while grabbing my wrist,

the guy who was known as Zen rolled his eyes. He led me to another elevator, he pushes the button to go down but the doors won't open; so he did what he thought was the only logical thing to do. He keeps pushing it or more like smashing the darn thing

"Why the hell won't it open." He grumbled clearly annoyed making me facepalm

'is this guy 10 or something?' I thought

"Stop hitting the button, the elevators are down today, you two need to take the stairs," Zen informed returning to his unfinished work, Zero made a tch sound and led us to a flight of stairs.

A loud meow made me look down, the cat was pawing my jeans like he was trying to ask me something, I look down to the flight of stairs and back to the cat

"do you want me to carry you?"

I questioned and he gave me another loud meow, I sighed signaling Zero to let go of my wrist

"Fine."

I scooped him up and cradled him in my arms.

We began our descend; maybe after the 50th stair and almost 3 times of letting go of the cat, we finally arrive at another double steel door. When the cat knew we arrived he hopped out of my arms 'finally I could breathe' I thought as I stretched my arms

"Come on bunny, want to see something cool?" Zero asked grabbing the handles, I nodded and he swung the doors open.

Inside was a room big enough to fit in 5 football fields

"Welcome to the storage room." Zero introduced as he went in first "the highest secured room in the whole HQ."

All around us people were coming back and forth

"That's the armory." He said pointing to a steel vault that was guarded by 2 guys in tuxedos armed with submachine guns.

"That's where we store our weapons and stuff." He described "and over there is where you can find every vehicle you could ever want." He pointed to a gallery of cars that was placed on a 10 floored semicircle and at the center was a platform, to be honest, it was like a replica of a hot wheels toy set.

"Wow," I mumbled admiring the display;

there were some cars that I could name like BMWs, Sports cars, Ferraris, and many more.

"How could you guys build all of this?!" I questioned, "this is insane."

Zero chuckled

"Well we do control the whole German Capital along with its politicians, we also rule over South Africa." He explained while directing us to another flight of stairs

"Come on, your office is just below." I sighed as I hear another loud mew, I look down to the cat to give him a 'no', he mowed even louder, and to be honest it was quite irritating

"I'm not going to carry you again," I Stated and he growled at me, I rolled my eyes and crouched down so that he could jump into my arms; he happily did proud that he won.

I carried him down a couple of steps before complaining "what do they feed you in this place that made you weight like a mini-fridge."

Zero chuckled beside me "In this parts his basically king." He stated

"Oh please...excuse me your highness; I didn't know you were pampered since birth."

I sarcastically stated as I put him down and let him there, he kept meowing for me to come back but I ignored him and continued my descend after a couple more steps we were faced again by 2 steel doors

"just so you know the cat probably has a grudge on you now and maybe just maybe he's planning a way to get rid of you."

Zero laughed and opened the doors open.

I stepped in first to see a room that was a little smaller than the storage, it had a second floor with a semicircle balcony below it was a 110-inch monster size tv and at the center of the room was a circular table; standing by it was; a guy who wore a red varsity jacket and brown pants.

"Hey, Dylan long time no see," Zero called out to the guy I mean Dylan,

He stopped working on what seems to be a panel rather than a simple old table, he turned to Zero "Well this is a surprise, I haven't seen you here for a long time." Zero chuckled

"been busy this past few months, well looks like you and your squad are getting ready for a raid." Dylan smiled as there were like 50 men there in tuxedos, when he saw me he gave me a confused look

"Who's that." He asked pointing at me

"oh, that's midnight," Zero answered and everyone froze
