The order was short but everyone already got into position, all guns were pointed in our direction and Ji Hoon signaled a guy to get me but before the said guy could get anywhere near me, I grabbed the flash bomb in my pocket and tossed it to the sky.
Everything went white and everyone could only look away at the unforgiving light, as the diversion made its wonders. I hastily scooped up my gun and grabbed both my comrades' collars before bolting to the forest, the three of us ran for our lives never even bothering to look back.
Me and Rachel were upfront and were almost to the car while Dylan staggered behind clutching his bleeding side, a shout made me dread instantly the flash bomb was already out, and soon after the Korea faction was hot on our heels. We arrive at the car shortly after, Rachel dashing to the driver's seat while me and Dylan went to the back seat.
"Go, go, go."
As soon we were on the road, two cars shortly appeared behind us
"Shit."
Rachel cursed looking at the rear mirror
"We need to shake them off."
"I know so shut your trap and sit back down."
Gunshots rang through the night some even landed on the car making it a bumpy ride
" Oh god, we're going to die."
"No, we're not."
Dylan rasped out beside me, opening a compartment; inside there lay a Benelli m4 shotgun
"This car is bulletproof as long as we stay inside we'll be fine but our main problem is how can we shake them off us."
One of the pick-up trucks drove beside us and repeatedly crashed through the side of ours. I lurched forward for every crash, eventually hitting Dylan with my weight.
"Rachel open the window on the right on my signal."
Dylan moved to a position with the sniper, pushing me to the side.
Rain of bullets continued to fire from the other pickup truck behind us, which has also a built-in machine gun.
With a last smash to the side, Dylan shouted "Now." and snipe the driver's head, the car swerves, later than hitting the car behind us.
"Well, that's convenient."
I shuddered slumping down on my seat, Dylan did the same beside me. Sweat ran down from his temple to his neck, he rested his head on the rifle while trying to catch his breath.
Our moment of peace was disturbed by another set of bullets fired on our way but this time it wasn't from a car, no it was more advance than that.
Firing behind was a drone.
Like you see in those SciFi movies or in that one spy movie which I forgot the name of,
"Give up Lilith, your futile efforts of escape are worthless. I'm gonna make sure they'll drag you to me, one way or another." Angels' voice echoed through the forest making me grit my teeth
"He is relentless." I scoffed
"Which one, the fact that he wants to kill Rachel and me, while he whisks you away to collect the bounty for himself or the one that you two have some sort of secret romance going on the constant teasing, and let's not forget the unique nicknames. From the latest reunion you two just had, I think it's the latter but that's from my own perspective. Care to enlighten us on whichever do you mean?!"
The way he sat there with a triumphant expression, one eyebrow raised and a sly smile on his face just made me stare at him in astonishment. The dude just thought he won the lottery or something by his tone and sudden confidence if it wasn't for the fact that we were in a life or death situation right now. I would have already smacked him so hard that he will pass out from the impact, alone.
"What in the hell are you babbling about?!" My tone higher than it should be "let me get this straight we are not together, we aren't anywhere near that. Our relationship is complicated as a 5x5 Rubix cube and as for the names those are our insults towards each other's title, I call Reaper 'angel' because he despises it with a great passion. It's not a cutesy nickname."
Dylan could only gap at me after my explanation, jaw drop and his mouth making an o shape. When you come to think of it he looks a lot like the Pikachu surprised meme that went viral on the net, but stupider than the original.
I facepalm, this idiot
The car lurched forward from the unending pelts of bullets, along with the occasional impact of the bot smashing itself behind us. I however was rapidly thrown side to side due to the rapid movement of the car, getting smack by every hard surface in there made my headache and throb like crazy. I was damn sure that when this night was over, I would either have a big bruise on my forehead or a concussion.
Dylan let out a loud whelp when I accidentally elbowed him in the gut, he staggered back. His free Hand went to clutch his stomach while making a keening sound, head bowed to hide his pain.
"Screw it."
A cussed left my lips as I wrench the rifle out of Dylan's hands, he looks up his eyebrows raised and his lips twitch. I gave him a confident thumbs-up before opening the sunroof of the car. Wedging my leg between the cup holder and the driver's seat while using my left one to hoist me up, the cold evening air greeted me as I snuck my head out the roof. Trying to find my balance to not get blowed by it and also to not get hit by a surge of bullets deemed impossible but I managed, ducking back down to ask a question
"Which one of you has a hair tie?"
Dylan gave me a 'are you freaking serious look' but alas shook his head
"Here."
Rachel extended her hand and on her palm was one of her rubber bracelets
'meh, that'll work.'
"You can't destroy that thing you know." Dylan calmly commented both eyebrows knitted together, his chocolate brown orbs staring through my red ones.
Worry was evident on his face
"If my memory serves me right, yes that's true but it does have a soft spot." I pointed at the drone "its body is made of titanium which is hard to penetrate through with just a regular gun but see that big red circle?"
I cranked up the pump and stood through the sunroof "one bullet and it's game over."
With my dominant hand on the trigger while the other one in a v shape on its upper body or like in an awkward handshake, butt on my right shoulder. I took my stance, the body a bit hunched down and cheek close to peer in the scope. A fire than another and another one.
"Can you please drive a little less reckless,"
I called out to Rachel who in returned snickered, mouth twitched showing off her pearl white teeth
"If you want to be pelted by bullets then be my guest." She added, "hang on tight."
We came across a sharp turn and with that Rachel drifted the car to the right. My body slammed to the side and I could only hold on for dear life, the smoke was everywhere and a fit of coughs got out from me. The pain started to throb from my sides, I gritted my teeth to ground myself from the excruciating discomfort. Nursing the forming bruise on my waist I crashed down on the passenger seat, a shriek came out before a groan.
"Oh no."
A worrisome voice followed by a short gasped made me look up instantly. There is a few meters away from us stood Ji Hoon and Yongsils' car parked behind them along with two armored vehicles, ten men all loaded with a submachine gun. Oh gods we're screwed very, very, very screwed. No wait they want us to stop, they knew there was no other way.
We were trapped from both sides after all.
"Floor it." I bellowed in a flat tone
Rachel instantly paled at my words, her grip on the wheel tightened and shoulders tensed. Worry was evident on her face "Are you crazy?!" She stammered, eyes flicking from me and the road. I have never seen her azure eyes look so scared before, my heart softened at the fear it held.
"Trust me." I insisted giving her a determined look, a moment of hesitation then a Curt nod. She slammed her foot on the accelerator.
The car zoomed almost lifting off the ground as we got near to the barricade, they all scream in both shock and fear of their lives. Dropping their formation and flee to the sides, we on the other hand braced for the impact.
My breath hitched, our car just crashed through the other vehicles like pins in bowling. Strike I guess, wow that was nerve-wracking and I'm definitely not doing that again. tremors convulsed through my whole body, most parts were already numb at this point and it took me a few minutes before I got it to relax. Now there's only one thing left to do with that though I sprang back to action, pulling myself back out the roof.
Aiming the rifle to the despised drone
"Keep it steady," I called out below
The drone hovers above the wreckage we just made, finger at the trigger. I let out a loud sigh,
'just turn around already'
"Don't celebrate just yet, Lilith." The shrill voice echoed through the chaos "Keep this in that croaked mind of yours, I'll always be one step ahead of you. No matter where you run or hide, I'll find you. I'm the OG after all."
Busy with his little speech, he turned giving me the window of opportunity. I snipped the drone before it could even finish, it crashed down with a loud clang. The thing went up in flames engulfing everything around it, and I could only watch it burn in amusement.
"Noisy bastard."
