They were all sitting in front of the big screen where the image of Admiral Hisikawa was to appear. Katsuo Matsumoto had summoned them for that night apologizing for the lateness of the hour, given the difference between the time zones of Tokyo and New York. While Aiko, Yoshida and the director himself had sat in the first row of the small makeshift auditorium in front of the screen next to the operator of the communication equipment, Mrs. Yamaguchi served the tea and then sat down on the second line. Watanabe and Kato sat at desks in the back part of the room, in not very elegant clothes. One of the characteristics of Matsumoto that the young members of the team appreciated was his lack of formalism.
