"… coming round now, Jungkook, can you hear us?"
Jungkook's clouded vision slowly cleared and the vague outlines of the white-clad figure formed into a doctor. He was smiling reassuringly, he remembered that this man was Hoseok's other husband.
'Wait. Dr Kim? Wha... Hospital? He was in the hospital?'
Automatically the omega's eyes widened with the thought, he panicked.
"It's all right, Jungkook. You had a nasty fall, but you're all right now. We've had to keep you sedated for a few days, to give your body time to rest, We've performed some tests, so you're bound to feel woozy and confused. Just relax, please."
'Relax!?'
Jungkook put his hand on top of the flat white sheet that pulled tightly over his body, it attached the omega to some kind of drip.
"My baby?" the omega demanded anxiously, the pain was all-encompassing, Jungkook had let his baby down.
The alpha doctor looked at him calmly but then Jungkook's brain was running the worst-case scenario in his head, he had lost his baby, his fall, the omega remembered it now, had killed his baby.
Jungkook hadn't protected it properly, either from his fall or from its father's rejection.
The omega felt too numb with the onset of grief to cry.
Jin patted his hand and sympathetically smiled at him, "Your baby is fine, Jungkook."
Jungkook looked at him in disbelief, "You're just telling me that, aren't you? I've lost the baby, haven't I?"
"I think I should let you have a look. I will take you for a scan to see for yourself that your baby is perfectly well."
An hour later Jungkook was back in his hospital room, still gazing in awed delight at the small image given, an image which revealed that his baby was indeed safe.
'My baby's safe.'
"You and your baby have both been very lucky," Jin told him when he came in a few minutes later, "You sustained a nasty head injury. After that you're taken into the villa's clinic, the attending physician feared that a blood clot had developed. It meant that they would have to terminate your pregnancy. Alpha Taehyung refused to give his consent to the procedure, so he arranged for you to be brought here to Asan Medical Center in Seoul, he even considered bringing another specialist from Japan to treat you. Your alpha said that you would never forgive him and himself if your pregnancy had to be ended."
"By the way, your husband will be here soon," Jin continued, "Initially he insisted on staying here with you but I told him to go home and get some rest once you were in the clear."
As though on cue the door to his room opened, Taehyung was standing by the foot of the omega's bed. Discreetly Jin smiled and patted the alpha on the shoulder and walked out of the room, leaving them alone.
"The twins…," Jungkook began anxiously.
"They know you had a fall, they were playing in the garden when it happened and that you had to come to the hospital to be 'cured.' They're anxious and missed you but Hoseok and Namjoon are doing their best to keep them occupied."
"Dr Kim was just telling me that because of you… I still have my baby."
"Our baby," Taehyung corrected quietly.
Jungkook looked down on his still flat stomach, caressing the tiny bump, he didn't know what to say or think, his emotions did both for him as tears slid down his face.
"Jungkook, don't," Taehyung begged, "When I saw you falling down those steps I knew that no matter what I'd said or what I thought I'd believed - I love you. I knew that since last night when we spent hours making love, but I told myself that letting go of my doubts must be a slow and measured process. I blinded myself to what was real, I needed to believe the worst of you, because of my fear and my pride... You and our child almost lost your lives."
Taehyung's grip on his omega's hand tightened and continued, "An accident that resulted from my refusal to accept what you were trying to tell me. Can you forgive me, Jungkook?"
"My fall was an accident, you know that. What I want now is for you to forgive yourself."
Jungkook looked up at him, "And not just forgive yourself about me."
"I guess I've always been distrustful of anyone, probably because of my relationship with my mother. My alpha mother never loved me, I was a duty she had to bear, literally and figuratively. I was the price she paid for my father's wealth, for living the life she wanted. A life of shallow, gaudy excess, she lived in luxury at someone else's expense. The only time I saw him was when she wanted my father to give her more money. Unfortunately, my father loved her beyond reason. There were both hopeless. In the end, there was no room in her heart for us, no desire to make room there for us. When I saw you in that club, I saw you in my mother's image. I didn't want to look beneath the surface. A part of me now recognises how innocent and vulnerable you were, but I rejected it then. I used you to express my anger against my grandfather. My behaviour was unforgivable."
"No. Under the circumstances, it was predictable, we were both defensive when we got married. You because of your mother, me because I was ashamed of the way I'd behaved with you. Giving away my virginity to a man who couldn't wait to throw me out once he had had what he wanted. We both made mistakes, Taehyung, but that doesn't mean we can't forgive ourselves and put them behind us."
In answer to his question Jungkook lifted off his pillows and kissed him gently, his heart ached with compassion and love, before telling him, "I know your parents, especially your mother, hurt you, Taehyung. It wasn't your fault that she rejected you, the flaw was within her, not you."
"Don't… be nice to me," Taehyung groaned remorsefully. "I'm sorry I said what I did about this new baby, Jungkook. When you fell just before you lost consciousness you whispered to me, 'my baby' and I knew then that no matter what I had said or thought I believed you. The child inside you was mine, and no other could have fathered it. Can we start again? Can you still love me after the way I've behaved?"
"It would be impossible for me not to love you, Taehyung."
After Jungkook's response, the door suddenly opened with a small thud.
Jimin strode inside the private room, deliberately ignoring Taehyung, "Hello. Hello. Hello. My dearest Jungkookie!"
"Seokjin informed me you've woken up," Jimin states while sending daggers towards his brother's head, out of nowhere he lifts his hand and smacks his head, hard.
Taehyung's shocked gasp escaped his lips, his hand rubbed the affected area to soothe the pain as Yoongi chuckled.
"I'm so, so, sorry about my stupid brother. He may be the alpha in this clan but he still is stupid in some ways, please pardon him -A lot. He'll make lots of mistakes in the future too."
Jimin stopped and scooted him off the bed, "Move, brother. I want to gloat to Jungkook about how I kicked your ass last night. Shoo," he instructed, then turned to his husband Yoongi, and he continued, "Love. Kindly bring some of those delicious buttery croissants and some tea for me and Jungkookie? Oh, mind bringing my brother along... hmm?"
~~~
It was just over a month since Jungkook's full recovery and returned to the villa.
Each day Jungkook's happiness grew as Taehyung had already proved to him he was a loving father and intended to be equally good to the child the omega was carrying, he was also trying to prove that he's a loving husband.
Lying next to him in their bed, Jungkook felt his heart swell with joy and love.
Smiling in the darkness, the omega turned toward Taehyung, pressing a loving kiss against his chin.
"You know what will happen if you keep on doing that," he warned his mock-seriously.
Jungkook laughed, "I thought I was the one who could not resist you, not the other way around," the omega teased as he nestled closer to the soft curves of his naked body, a sweet, warm temptation against his own.
"Does it feel like I'm able to resist you?"
Taehyung's hands were already stroking his milky skin, his breath warm against his lips and Jungkook moved closer to him. It was still the same, that heart-stopping feeling of anticipation and longing that filled him when the omega knew he was going to kiss him.
Taehyung finally slowly stroked his tongue against them deliberately until Jungkook couldn't wait any longer and placed his hands on either side of his head.
"I love you…"
The words sped up their breathing, whispering sounds of sensuality and expectant desire, until Jungkook's lips parted.
A little shudder of longing rippled through the sweetness of the omega's arousal, increasing Taehyung's desire.
The omega showed his love for him so naturally and openly, with his desire whispered in soft words of love and longing, encouragement and promises filling the air, breathed against his skin in an erotic litany of the shape of his body was changing now, his pregnancy showed a gentle swell that he caressed gently before he kissed his growing bump.
Looking down and stroking at Taehyung's dark head, Jungkook then stroked the flesh at the nape of his neck, the alpha, hugging his midsection, knew now how much both the omega and this new baby meant to him.
"I love you," Jungkook says again.
Held safely in Taehyung's arms, Jungkook closed his eyes, knowing that when he woke in the morning and for every morning of their lives together, the omega would wake up being held safe and loved.
"I love you, Jungkook. You are my life, my world, light in my darkness, my omega."
Epilogue
"Oh, Jungkookie! She's beautiful."
Smiling proudly, Jungkook looked on as his friend and brother-in-law, Jimin, admired his niece.
It had been a wonderful surprise when Taehyung had told him he had arranged for his brother and his husband to visit the villa.
"She's the image of Taehyung," Jimin announced, with an authority that the omega had no desire to refute.
After all, Sarang was the image of her father and her twin brothers, whilst Taehyung had said before his birth that if they had a girl, he would like to look like the omega father.
Jungkook rather thought that he didn't mind that she was a dark-haired, dark-eyed daddy's girl.
"It looks as though she can wound Taehyung and the boys around her little finger already."
Hoseok joined the conversation, adding ruefully, "I'm itching to cuddle her properly, but this one," he patted the bulge of his seven-month pregnancy ruefully, "obviously doesn't want me to. He kicked so hard when I tried."
"Ah, so it is a boy, then."
Jungkook and Jimin stated in unison, laughing when Hoseok tried to protest and then glanced toward his husbands, Namjoon and Jin, who were standing with Taehyung and Yoongi who was holding their adopted two-month-old son Beomgyu with the deftness of experienced fatherhood, the three men laughed and talked together.
For a moment it was just the three of them again, bonding together by their love and loyalty for one another then all three looked towards their husbands, exchanging warm smiles when the men looked back.
"We are lucky," Jungkook announced, knowing that he was speaking for everyone.
Three such male and powerful men, strong enough to admit that love had conquered them and to show openly just how much that love meant to them.
Taehyung, who overheard his omega, stopped to look him in the eyes and tell him firmly, "No, it is we who are the lucky ones. Lucky and blessed by the Gods, guided by Luna and by the fates to have won the love of such veritable treasures."
