Twist of fates

She was lost in her thoughts. Her heart was in turmoil at the uncertainty of the kind of parent she would be.

Mariam watched her intently. This was perhaps the most peaceful moment throughout her life. Ironically, it happened to be one where she was the one tied up, and Maimuna the spectator.

"Little princess," the title sounded so wrong to address Maimuna. However, she got the woman's attention with her odd use of the title.

She meant it from her heart but felt the heaviness of the word. It was her first time addressing her by the title which didn't seem to fit her.

Not because she was disdainful. Not anymore. Rather, looking at her twin now, she saw a woman whose vigor was filled with regality and grace. The perfect description of a Queen.

And she was one. She didn't need anyone to call her a princess or acknowledge her birthright title. She was already known to the world as the Lady of the realm.
