"So, what's your game plan, Jinx?"
Henry asked me this hours later after we had woken up from the short sleep we fell into after making love. We were in the kitchen eating cereal and listening to the patter of rain against the window. The downpour had reduced somewhat, but not enough to think that it was going to stop anytime soon. No matter, it wasn't like we were thinking about going out or expecting company. We hadn't had any friends over for weeks; not that they, too, were looking forward to us visiting them. Every transaction we carried out was via online. Makes me wonder what life in the pandemic would have been like without the internet.
It took me a moment to reflect on the supposed game plan I had in mind before telling him about it.
"You remember my friend, Kate? She's an exotic dancer over at Cabarete on Vine Street. She once told me that on her spare time, she does YouTube videos showcasing her dancing technique for anyone to watch, also on some adult sites where she's a content creator. That got me thinking that maybe we, too, can hop on that train."
"Make our own sex videos and we get paid?"
"Yeah. Besides, we're here, and we've got nothing else to do until whatever vaccine is out and ready. I'm getting lazier lying in bed all day. Let's just go for it."
"What if someone out there recognizes you, or me? Might be someone familiar to us."
"We can always lie and say that it's not us."
"Come on, Jinx. This is the internet we're talking about here. It's awful easy hiding stuff in plain sight than it is online."
"We can wear masks," I suggested. "We can cover our faces, hide our tattoos . . . or we can simply film it, and then later blank out our eyes and anything that people might recognize about us."
"We could invite someone," he mildly said. "You know the old saying, two's company and three's a crowd."
"How about we stick to ourselves for now," I said. "Maybe when things take off, then we can consider about inviting a third. For now, I want this to be about us. So, what do you think?"
He ate his cereal while he thought about it. I could almost hear the gears of his mind turning as he looked at the idea from every possible angle. Henry was never a coward when it comes to being adventurous, but always sought toward being careful.
"I did say we'll need a camcorder," he mused, "and we're for sure going to need one."
"You got any ideas?"
"I just might."
That was his way of saying yes.
