Walking into the throne room, the messenger bowed and saluted before saying "greetings lord, I bring news from dawn fortress by general Markus order."
"What news have you bring me?"
"A large number of humans have shown up in front of the fortress from the outside of tutor forest, saying that they are refugees and seeking shelter."
"What are their exact numbers? and is their a leader amongst them? have you noticed any suspicious actions?" asked Daniel consecutively.
There are red flags popping up everywhere within his mind after getting the report. How did all of these people know about them when news of tutor forest being a safe haven haven't reach the outside world yet.
"Reporting to the lord, there are approximately four thousand of them, no one have step out to claim leadership yet, and we haven't see anything suspicious so far. General Markus is keeping them outside for now and await your orders." replied the messenger.
'Four thousand....' thought Daniel.
That is not the kind of numbers you would normally see at any given time. Even the tribe arriving to join honor city is only in the hundreds and the biggest are a thousand people.
'I'm thinking about the same thing.'
Looking at the messenger, Daniel said "get some rest before going back to the fortress, you may leave."
"Thank you lord, what about your orders?"
"Don't worry, I will head to the fortress personally."
After the royal guards brought the messenger out of the throne room. Daniel also left for the back garden with steady steps. There, he could see a huge red dragon currently snoring loudly.
"Drogon." said Daniel.
His voice was neither loud nor quiet but once it is spoken. Drogon who was asleep immediately jump to its feet and look at his master with anticipation.
Roar...
"Sorry bud, no battle yet but there will be one soon enough. Let's go to dawn fortress, I need to check something." said Daniel as he jump onto Drogon back and standing firmly in place.
Ever since he started to practice the battle aura skill and reach level two. His strength have increased by a huge portion and by using his battle aura. Daniel can seal the space under him to prevent himself from falling and the aura also protects him from the strong winds.
Roar, whoosh, whoosh
With a few flaps of his wings, drogon have ascended hundreds of feet into the air before speeding towards the west. People from all around upon seeing the silhouette of a dragon drop down on both knees and bowed as well as pray to Daniel. Since everyone knows that only their divine lord have a huge dragon.
"It's the divine lord! please bless this lowly one."
"My wife will soon give birth, please watch over her!"
- Dawn Fortress -
"Let us in! the goblins could be here any minute now!" yelled a refugee.
"That's right! are you just going to watch everyone here die!?"
Similar screaming and yelling voices could be heard continuously outside the city walls. Standing on top of the wall, Markus look at the commotion with a calm expression. He also feels like something is amiss with this situation. And it doesn't matter how these people or himself feels, he will not take action without Daniel consent.
Unless the orcs invaded the fortress. Otherwise, he won't make a mistake of undermining his lord authority.
Turning to the soldier next to him, Markus asked "lieutenant Beck, have you found out anything about these refugees? also, have our scouts report anything out of the ordinary in the surrounding?"
"Nothing new so far general, they all still say the same thing about being a large tribe from a place called alcott mountain. And they migrated here due to the goblins attack. They didn't think that their is a fortress own by humans to be here." said Beck as he continues.
"We also didn't find anything suspicious beyond the forest entrance. Besides a few animal tracks of large beast like tigers and mountain lions, nothing else was found."
Tapping his fingers on the city wall while listening to Beck, Markus went into deep thoughts. But that didn't last long before the bell from their lookout tower started to ring.
Ding! Ding! Ding!
"Dust clouds in the distance! Incoming attack!" yelled the soldier on the tower.
Soon after the soldier warn them, the dust cloud came into view as hundreds of goblins riding a beast that is mix between a hyena and a wolf rushed out.
Wasting no time, Markus ordered "battle stations! archers get into position! catapults fire at will!"
"General, what about the people outside?" asked Beck.
"Leave them be, I rather get hated for killing innocents then face the lord in failure if I allow any kind of mishaps to happen by letting these people in."
The people down below the wall upon seeing that those dreadful goblins have arrived. Started to yell even louder while some begin to hit the gate with whatever they have.
But how can a fortress gate created by the system be easily destroyed?
Feeling hopeless, the refugees started to cry out a river as catapults projectiles is flying over their heads at the approaching goblins. Although the catapults managed to hit every time due to the narrow entrance, the goblins still rush in like a madman. Reaching a certain point, arrows have also started to rain down on the goblins and any unlucky refugees.
Blood of different colors flow nonstop, wetting the sandy ground. Changing it colors completely and painted a disturbing picture. The smell of blood in the air is getting denser as time passed.
Fortunately, before things can get any worse. A deafening roar resounded throughout the whole place and stopping all the soldiers action. Then a big shadow swoop down from the heavens and released it judgement on the vile creatures. Columns of fire spread outward and quickly engulfed all of the goblins, turning them into ashes.
Once everything is settled, the shadow emerge from the flames which give all the refugees a huge fright.
However, things are different from the fortress as all the soldiers got down on one knee and look at the majestic figure standing on the dragon back before saying all at the same time.
"WE GREET THE LORD!!!"
