Kitten Hunt & Date

After the lecture ended, Amaris tried to look for the guy she met in the hall. Since she knew that he did not come to the class, she was curious to know what happened to him.

She turned and asked her friend-cum-desk mate.

'Hey Suzz, do you know of a guy who attends our class and he is deaf or might be mute?'

'Nah! don't think so.' Suzzie paused and then asked in her slight wheezy voice. 'Hey! Ya almost never bunk any lesson won't ya know any better.' She winked at her and then stood up. They needed to leave for the next class.

Amaris was stunned for a moment and then she laughed.

'You are right, Suzz. But I do have my bad days.' Amaris joked. 'Still, tell me, he is more than a head taller than me and is lean and have black hair and black eyes.' She finished and looked at her hopefully.

Little did she know that she would meet with disappointment.

'Nah! Doesn't ring a bell.'

'Okay. Let's hurry for our next class, it's Mrs. Sprout.' Amaris said as she also stood up.

'Yeah, that teach gives me goosebumps.' Suzzie shuddered and then raised her hand and pulled the sleeve back to show Amaris the visible slight bumps.

Amaris chucked at her behavior but truth to be told Mrs. Sprout was not the teacher you trifle with.

'Okay, did you bring your homework?' She asked.

'You bet! I ain't gonna make the same mistake twice.' They left the class chatting along the way, reminiscing about the punishments that Mrs. Sprout gives.

The morning incident with a certain black-eyed possible mute or deaf then pleasantly took the back seat in Amaris's mind, Mrs. Sprout's terror made sure of that.

If Kai knew that someone thinks of him as a disabled person he would have lost his temper and then beaten the crap out of him. But if he knew that the person was the girl from morning then the reaction would have more or less bordered along with amusement and mild temper.

It was lunchtime, Amaris and Suzzie made their way to the canteen. They were talking about how they should complete their English assignment when they heard a loud scream from their left. Their head whipped in that direction and they quickened their steps.

They saw that it was someone from the cheerleading team. But her clothes were covered in dirt and her hair was messy. She was sitting on the ground holding her ankle.

'Whoa! Did a storm hit here?' Suzzie asked feeling bewildered.

'You alright?' Amaris bent down and inquired.

'Are you blind? It hurts so much. Take me to the medical room. Hurry! ' The girl shouted.

'Lacking values, this one.' Suzzie commented. She did not bother to hide her displease.

'You are talking about me?' the girl screeched and looked up glaring at them.

'Nothing.' Amaris said to her and as she finally got a good look at her face she recognized that it was the cheerleader. The one who got famous or unfamous, oops! But she could not recall her name.

Amaris looked at Suzzie. They exchanged a glance and Suzzie knew her friend would go ahead and help the brat. Suzzie shook her head but still did not stop Amaris.

'Take this.' Amaris beamed at her friend and then passed her bag to Suzzie and helped the girl up.

Suzzie was curious to know what happened but she did not like her queen bee attitude. So she decided it would be best for her to leave.

'Ris, ya go with her, I'll take our lunch, kay.' With that Suzzie left. Amaris did not stop her. She knew Suzzie had a temper and if she stayed, with the things going like, this girl might end up with more than a sprained ankle. So she focused on getting her quickly to the medical room.

A few minutes later Amaris joined Suzzie who was looking at her phone as if she found the lost treasure of Blackbeard.

'What's with the grin?' She asked as she sat down.

'First, ya tell me what happened with that drama queen?'

'It was something about a cat.' Amaris paused and then continued. 'Maybe, or it was something else, truthfully, I really don't remember much. She talked so much and so loudly that it almost gave me a headache. So I ignored most of it and left as soon as she sat down on the bed.'

'How did ya do that? If I were ya, I would have kicked that ass to moon and left her there.' Suzzie said feeling annoyed for her friend.

'I know. So now tell me, what made you smile like that?' Amaris was really curious. Suzzie's smile had a bit of mischief in it and it's been a while since she saw that kind of smile on her friend's face.

'Hmm... I think I might know what made Ashley look like that.' Suzzie said mysteriously.

So her name was Ashley, Amaris mused. 'Just tell me.'

'Here, look for ya'self.' Suzzie passed the phone over to her. When Amaris glanced at it, she found that it was their school's website. She did not get it. What was so amazing about their school website and looked at her friend in confusion.

Suzzie did not say anything but made a rolling-like motion with her finger. She was telling her to scroll down. Her blue eyes were shining and Amaris could read the promise of juicy gossip in them.

'What?! Is this for real?' Amaris finally saw what her friend grins like the cat who got the canary and laughed out loud in bewilderment.

There was a notice in the lost and found category. It could have been an ordinary notice and she almost scrolled past it but took a second look when the title caught her eye.

'A date with Drake!' Amaris exclaimed aloud.

She read the contents and once again was flabbergasted. The notice read- A kitten was lost in the morning, and whoever finds out can go on a date with Drake. But they have to be careful as the kitten bites and no remuneration will be paid for the damage if there is any. They can contact Rudy when they find one.

There was no telephone number given but the address of their playground and time.

'This is crazy!'

'This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!' Both of them exclaimed at the same time.

'What is crazy?'

'What opportunity?' Suzzie raised her right brow as if asking, girlfriend, ya still don't get it? Amaris shook her head in denial as she obviously did not.

'Let me explain.' Suzzie said and went into detail so that her friend could see her point.

'The reward is a date with DRAKE. Don't ya know, half of the girls want to date him and the other half Mr. Mc Dreamy, Rudy.' Suzzie paused for dramatic effect. 'In this one notice, ya're seeing both of their names, Ris, both of their names.' She sighed and continued.

'If the two are there then most likely the third member of Golden trio, whose name is too sacred to say casually will be there too. Secretly, all of the girls want to date him, kay.' Suzzie lowered her voice as she uttered the last sentence. Then she threw Amaris a haughty look to show that she is such a good friend.

Amaris laughed at her friend's antics, she knew how dramatic Suzzie can be as that's how she is. But she loved her like that. Really, she could not recall a moment with Suzzie that came close to being called boring. She always had a great time with her.

'Fine, but who sets a date as a reward! That is totally crazy.' Amaris still insisted.

'Ya have to help me! We need to look for that kitten, kay!' Suzzie pleaded.

'What?! Why?' Amaris sputtered. She clearly was missing something here.

'Don't ya remember? It is a date with DRAKE! The Drake.' Suzzie tried to subtly tell her but it was in vain. Amaris still felt a little clueless.

Suzzie sighed dramatically and then looked straight into her eyes.

'He is that Drake, which I have been crushing on since forever.'

'Ohh!' Amaris looked at her sheepishly.

'Really, if I weren't in such a great mood I would have not talked to ya. How can ya forget his name!' Suzzie pouted as she looked at her friend who was now supporting a guilty look.

'I am sorry. You know how it is with me and names.' Amaris really felt awful. But it really was no secret amongst her friends that she was terrible with names. It really was not intentional.

'Fine, Ris, let's go, and find that poor kitty, Drake must be anxious.' Suzzie said with unbridled enthusiasm. Her eyes were shining with determination as she got up and then carried Amaris away.

It really was time for a kitten hunt!
