OLIVIA’S POV.
While I am still sitting at the bar with Sam, I get a call. I look at the phone, and my heart stops beating for a moment. It's Dylan. "Should I answer?" I ask Sam nervously. "Is that even a question? Of course, you have to!" I pick up the phone: "Hello?" He can perfectly hear that I’m nervous. "Hey" He doesn't sound mad at all, and this relaxes me a little bit. I don't even know what to say, but he speaks first: "I read your message, and yes, we need to talk, but I won't be back before two weeks, you know that." "Dylan, yes, I know, but... I am very sorry for what I did, and I just want to fix this."
He sighs. "I want that too, that's why I called you. Listen, I just got to the airport, and I gotta go, but I wish I were there so we could fix this." Now I am the one sighing. "Wait, but... Wasn't your flight tomorrow?" "Yes, but they anticipated it for an interview. If you need anything, you can always call me. And if it's urgent but I can't answer, you can call Luke. Is that okay for you?" I smile at the phone like an idiot without any reason. "It's perfect, and thank you." "I will text you his number later." When he is about to hang up, I say: "Have a safe flight." "Thank you." He answers sweetly.
"Why are you smiling like that? What did he say?" Sam asks curiously. "I am just surprised that he didn't sound mad. I don't know... I want to see him and fix this as soon as possible, but he won't be back for two weeks. He also told me that if I need something and he can't answer or help me, he will text me his manager’s number later." Now, Sam is the one smiling. "Oh God, he does care about you! And not just as a friend." He gives me a pleased smile. I don't say anything because no one and nothing will stop Sam and his thoughts, but I giggle a little. We talk a little more, and then we decide to go to my house to watch a movie, and while watching it, I get a message.
From Dylan: This is Luke's number. Call him or me whenever you want. See you soon xx.
To Dylan: Thank you so much :)
At that moment, an idea comes to mind. A crazy one. Sam understands that I am planning something and asks: "What's in your mind?" I yell: "It’s something crazy. I don’t know if it’s going to work." He waits for me to keep talking, and I continue: "Since I got Luke's number, maybe he can help me with something. I seriously can't wait to see Dylan, and two weeks are way too much. Do you think that if I ask where is the hotel in which they are going to stay, maybe Luke can help me to surprise him?" Sam's eyes widen, and he starts rambling about how amazing it’d be if Dylan and I would finally kiss. I burst into laughter, and then I decide to text Luke.
To Luke: Hi, sorry to bother you. My name is Olivia and Dylan told me that if I needed something, you could help me.
I wait anxiously for an answer, and after a while, he replies.
From Luke: Hi Olivia. I know you, Dylan talked to me about you, and you seem really nice. And yes, if you need something, I am here whenever you want.
Wait... Dylan told Luke about me? Oh, God.
To Luke: Yeah, I actually need your help with something. I know that you guys are in LA right now, and I wondered if you could tell me where the hotel is in which you will stay? I want to surprise Dylan and fix things between us as soon as possible. If you can't tell me your location, then no problem, I get it :)
I’m pretty nervous while waiting for an answer. Thank God he replies after a couple of minutes.
From Luke: Of course, I know what's going on between you two, and I will help you. I will give you all the information in a couple of minutes. Stay tuned ;)
I scream. Sam looks at me and asks: "Is he going to help you?" I nod, and then I hug him; I couldn't be happier at that moment. But then I think about the fact that maybe my parents won't let me go there. I have to convince them in some way. I’m too excited to wait for them to get back home, so I immediately call my mom.
"Liv, what is it?" She asks, worried. I usually never call my mom, but when I do that, it's because something happened.
"Mom, sorry to bother you, but it's urgent. Quick question: what if I fly to Los Angeles for a couple of days? I know that I will skip school, but it's very important." "Oh, I don't know. I mean, you are eighteen so you're not too young for it, and I know that you always study, so if you skip school for a couple of days it won't be a big deal. But if you want me to let you go, you have to tell me why."
She doesn't sound mad, so I try to explain to her the whole thing with Dylan and his manager, hoping she will understand.
"Wow, are we actually talking about Dylan Foster and Luke Fildes? This is huge!" She giggles. She perfectly knows how much I love Dylan and that I have been his fan for a long time. She has always supported me, and so has my dad.
"Liv, I know how much you care about him, and this is insane. If you need to fix this as soon as possible, then yes, you can go. As soon as I get back home, we will immediately look for the plane ticket. I am sure that your dad will understand too. Don't worry; I will be back in about an hour." I thank her, and then I hang up.
I scream even more when Luke finally gives me all the information and tells me to let him know when I will be there.
Sam goes back home, and then I call Jennifer to explain to her the whole situation and go to Los Angeles to see Dylan. She is happy for me and very excited.
After buying the plane ticket with my mum’s help, I text Luke, telling him that I will be there in two days and stay there for a whole week. I even book the same hotel as Dylan's. Andrew wishes me a safe flight and tells me to call him when I am there to pick me up from the airport and organize everything to surprise Dylan.
The next day.
I go to school as always, and I warn my teachers that I won't attend their classes because I will be in LA for a family thing, and they tell me not to worry about it. I spend all the afternoon preparing my suitcases, and Jennifer helps me with choosing the outfits. Everything’s perfect, and I couldn't be more excited.
Today.
Before leaving, I check one more time that I didn't forget anything. We get in the car, and my parents drive me to the airport. I hug them one last time, trying not to cry, because, after all, I am going to miss them. "Liv, be careful and call us when you land. And remember, have fun. We love you." "I love you too and thank you. For everything."
Before the plane takes off, I call Luke to warn him that I will be there in a couple of hours. He tells me that everything is perfectly planned, and Dylan has no idea of what it’s going to happen.
The plane takes off, and I have to say that I am incredibly nervous. The flight is perfect, but I can't stop thinking about Dylan's reaction. What if he gets mad or disappointed? I hope that he wants to see me and that he wants to fix this; otherwise, this whole plan is useless. But he said that he wants to see me too, right? I hope he didn't change his mind.
After five long hours, the plane finally lands.
After all the checking, I take my suitcases when I get off the plane, looking for Luke. When I see him, a big smile appears on my face. I walk towards him, and the only thing that I can say is: "Luke, I would never be able to do this without you. Truly, thank you." "Don't worry; I am pleased to help you. Now, let's get a cab. Luckily, the hotel is not that far so we will be there in about fifteen minutes. Before picking you up, I told Dylan that I had to do something with Daniel, and he didn't suspect anything. He should be already in the hotel, though."
My jaw drops. "Is Daniel here too? Oh my God, he’s like the best photographer in the world!" Luke giggles in response as we get in the car. After the longest fifteen minutes of my life, we finally reach the hotel. I do the check-in, and they walk me to my room carrying my suitcases.
Dylan's room isn’t next to mine, but it’s downstairs. I have thirty minutes to shower and change myself. Luke is waiting for me outside, and we soon reach Dylan's room. "There you go. Now just knock on the door and wait. This is between you two, so I will go back to my room. If you need me, I am next to his room."
I thank him one more time, and when he walks back to his room, I take a deep breath, thinking again about what I’m going to tell him. I knock on the door, and after waiting for about ten seconds, the door opens. When Dylan sees me, his jaw drops. "What...What are you doing here?" "I couldn't wait two weeks, I am sor-" I can't finish what I am saying because he grabs my face and kisses me.
