Nickname

Keevah

"I'm sorry, what?" That's all I can say.

His words caught me off guard, to the point that it gives shivers all over my body. Being called "popular amnestic transferee" again feels like I missed a nice scenes in my previous years but knowing myself, that nickname is just a nonsense name made by a monster.

"Nevermind, I'm Luke Bryant." He put his head on his arm and stare at me.

I smile and put my chin on my hand, looking outside the window. It looks like they're doing great as expected.

Trailing everyone's movements at the field, based on my research yesterday, Avarial High contains of eight clubs in sports which is the baseball, football, basketball, swimming, volleyball, and the last three is soccer, rugby and my main sports is the truck-and-field. Of course this sports club have their own buildings, except for being the top in academic field, Avarial also top the competition in some sports and on top of that, young actors and actresses also attend this school. In other words, this university isn't normal at all. Attending this university means you're one of the so-called "mystic".

And rumor has been flying that some of the students here holds a precious gift from ancient people, that's their talents and intelligence. And called it a Mystic, a person who deserves to be on top. A person who rule the world. That's their beliefs, a words comes to their mind. That's the biggest mystery of Avarial.

Their names are all over the articles from different sources, they really excelled in different fields. As a new student, my job is to adjust myself and find some new friends to hang out with before the first semester ends. But guess what? Their examinations aren't easy to pass, that's because you must join in a different kind of clubs first before passing the exams, they literally wants their students to be one of the kind, huh. That's not bad.

"Keevah!" A loud voice echoed in the room, my desk mate, Luke almost jump on his chair as he heard Diana.

I patted his shoulder before going to Diana, but he rose up from his seat and strangely walks towards Diana. Oh, yeah. I forgot that he's popular around the university. He's Luke for nothing.

"Come on, let's eat lunch. I'm starving, Keevah!" Diana once again shouted as she grabbed my hand. Pulling me to the cafeteria. My jaw drop when we came to the cafeteria, it's huge and smells nice. Nothing to compare on my previous school. I wonder what kind of foods they served.

"Baby Diana, how's your school?" She hugged the girl, named Bubble and I sat next to Cleo. Their names suits them well, especially Bubble she seems very bubbly just like Diana.

I completely lost track of time talking to them, it feels nice to have someone to talk about something you can't say and I can say that they're all kind. As we talked about our concerns, I notice a group of guys looking at them and a group of students who's acting mean gossiping about them. I feel bad for them being my friends, I heard what that ladies talking about and that's all because of me. Being their friends.

As time goes by, the class ended and the students starting wrapping their own business. Walking confidently until a hand touch my shoulder, I turned to see Sui. She's holding a small paper.

Unlike Diana, Bubble, and Kelsey, she seem quiet like Cleo. Her straight up posture gives her more attention, to the point that she's almost perfect. I already measure out height difference earlier and that's big enough to scare me. I tilt my head in confusion, she is going to what? She bend her knee and whisper something to me. My eyes widen and immediately nodded in response. The way she told me that gives me cringe.

"Okay, keep me updated!" I step faster and run towards the bus station.

Shocked by Sui's sudden request, I checked my schedule and write down the preparations for Kelsey's upcoming debut. As a friend, Sui asked me to help them prepare for Kelsey's surprise birthday party. Counting my whole allowance for a month, I guess I need to find some part time job to make money faster. Knowing that they're all rich kid, me as their new friend needs to come up for a more surprising event.

As I was walking alone in a busy streets like this, I heard a familiar voice coming from a large circle shaped park nearby. There's a band performing while the audiences are busy listening to their good performance, some of them are giving the band a coins or some are giving a large amount of money. "Thank you so much, We are Re:wind!" A guy who seem to be their leader shouted as the crowd go crazy.

After listening to their songs, I went to a nearby store to buy water when some guy bumped to the wall causing his foods to reached the floor. I help him with his foods and look closer to him, oh I finally remember someone from this town! He's Kye, Auntie Rose's only son. We used to play before they moved here.

"Kye, are you okay? Here, let me help you." I bend my knee and stretched my hands, he tilt his head and smile after that. Oh, I guess he finally remember me, huh.

"Oh, is that you? Keevah!" He happily open his arms and welcome me in his embrace, his warmth gives me sense of security. I really missed this guy. He's two years older than me, they moved here two years ago when he got a full scholarship because he got scouted by his current band Re:wind. We used to sing and dance together, he even told me that I'm his number one fan. His mother and mom are best friends that's why.

We sat at the vacant seat and talked to each other, they just finished performing and I can see that he's tired. Even though he's tired, you can still see the happiness on his eyes. I forgot about his band name earlier that I didn't notice him there, performing at all.

"Done visiting mom?" He asked, we lost contact with them after they moved and we don't have any idea how to contact auntie Rose so we didn't manage to visit them in the first place. Even mom really wants to.

"Come on, I'll walk you home." We went out the store and walked towards the bus station when I felt someone's staring at me, again. Just like before, I saw no one except to the both of us. Kye said that he wants to sleep over and eat some of my mom's foods, he really likes home made foods.

After a few minutes of waiting, the bus stopped at our stop as we went out and walked towards my house, I knock first and open the door and there I saw mom waiting for me in the living room and he's with Kye's mom. Kye run towards the kitchen and eat up. I rolled my eyes and kiss aunt Rose on the cheek. She's still beautiful as ever, no wonder Kye is handsome.

"Honey, you look beautiful in that uniform. And you're with Kye? Did you see him perform?" She asked and I nodded.

"Sweetheart, eat up or Kye will eat yours." I made my way towards the kitchen and saw Kye eating silently. I open the refrigerator when his phone rang. It must be his groupmates, I heard they're living together.

"What?" He angrily said as he put his phone in front of his face, oh they're video calling!

I sat in front of him and dig in, Mom's foods are always the best. I'm eating silently, avoiding to hear something from his group mates when I heard someone shouted from his phone. I think they're teasing him. I saw his face redden as he hung up the call and throw his phone away. I bow my head, preventing to laugh.

"I watched your match, Keevah. You're still smart like before, it annoys me when they bashed you on the comment box." I raise my head and looked at him. His eyebrows are arching, lips are pouting. Definitely angry.

In our childhood, he used to protect me from my bully. Being called useless by my friend, he wouldn't let them repeat that. He's always standing up for me, saying that I'm not useless. Of course it gives me a lot of courage to continue from what I'm doing. He's always playing with me even though he has a lot friends to play with. Patting my back when he saw me crying. That's Kye, for me. He's enjoying fighting with bullies because of me and I'm thankful of that.

"That's okay, it's not a mistake that I'm not perfect." I smile at him and clean the table. He's busy playing games so I wash the dishes, after that I went to the living room but he open his mouth and was about to say something.

"What is it? Did you leave any comments there?" I asked and put my arms on his shoulder, leaning closer.

"Yes, Of course!" He said looking at me. "Then, thank you. What did you write?" His lips rose up from smile to smirk, I step backwards and walks towards the living room. I'm curious about his comment but he doesn't want to say it. How unfair.

He walks towards me and leans closer to my ear and whisper something, it feels like he's reading my mid.

"That's my amnestic girl."
