Letting go

"You know you have a lot of potential, right? The last of a dead race...you could single handedly destroy all of your teammates. And yet you hold back. Why?"

This time the scenery is up in space. The milky way gently shifts, the stars blazing bright. Planets spin around lazily.

I don't turn to look at Casmir; it's what he wants and to be honest, I'm getting sick of him getting his way.

"Is it because you fear what you did to your mother, you will do to them?" He taunts.

I grit my teeth, and remain in silence, not wanting to give him the satisfaction of my reaction. He seems amused either way, cupping my face as he nears closer to me.

I want to harm him; I want to do something so I won't feel so weak. But I can feel some sort of magic holding my arms to my side down.

"I'm not the one that's holding you down, my dear. It's you."

My clothes change again, turning into a flower-like mini dress that barely covers the top of my thighs. I'm so tired of Casmir trying to control everything, of being questioned of everything...

Of everything breaking into chaos....

My mark is burning feverishly now, glowing into a rainbow of colors as sparks jump out of it. Casmir shields his eyes, a small smile forming on his face.

I wonder why he's smiling like that when I'm about to seriously harm him.

The sparks burn the dress off of me, my training clothes appearing underneath. The image around us shifts and thwarts, static surrounding me.

And then Casmir fades, the hold he has on the scenery around us shifting and changing, sparking into flames, and dark faces.

The disorders I've cured and taken from others growl and shout at me, PTSD staring at me in fear as he's thrown in the mix.

My mark shines brighter, as the light cuts opened, spreading into a bigger mark. I grip my head, letting out grunts as I try to reel it back.

Too much. Too much, I can't call it back, can't-

My eyes fly open as I come to. I'm floating off the ground, blue swirls of light holding me up. I feel as though I'm seeing this from a distance, away from my body.

I have no control now. Surrendering myself to the Chaos Magic, I aim my hand at Leo.

"Weakness. All that surrounds me. I will start with this one, and won't stop until everyone is gone."

Leo stares in horror, getting shoved as Harrison stands in front.

"You've been holding out on us. But I'm the one that knocked you out, remember? I'm still your opponent."

He has my attention then; in the blink of an eye, I'm gripping his shoulders, screaming into his face as I unleash his darkness.

Harrison goes limp as the full impact of my powers hit him. Alina let's out a shout as she tries to take me down. Cole catches her arm, yanking her back.

"Not the smartest idea. Did you see what she did to Harrison?" He tells her.

"I don't care; look what she did to my brother!"

"Leo, take Alina and warn the others about the situation at hand. Kara, attack on the left flank. Draw her out and play."

Kara nods, eyes glinting in excitement as her nails sharpen. Leo dashes off with a still fighting Alina, disappearing through the doors. Cole circles me on my right, Kara going the different way.

I feel an unnatural calmness, holding a hand out to both of them.

"Chaos." I whisper, watching as both of them fly backwards through the walls.

I step over Harrison, a disgusted look on my face.

How weak of me to be taken down by such a simpleton.

Stepping out of the training area, the building is vacating with each step I take. Agents pull out their guns as they try to stop me, the bullet stopping once I wave my hands and unleash my magic.

My eyes scan for two people; Leo and Alina.

Annoyed that I don't see them there, I slam my fist against the wall, watching as a chunk crumbles, and breaks.

Squaring my shoulders, I let out a scream in frustration, my magic expanding out of me, shooting straight through the single, and pouring out of me.

I was done holding this in.

Smiling, I felt myself finally letting go.

A distance away...

The sound of a crashing building caught Jabez's attention, and when she turned, a burst of light appeared through the ceiling.

She gritted her teeth; her father's plan was in motion. He had managed to go through with it after all, the condescending bastard. She slammed the side of her fist against the brick wall, catching the attention of the rest of her runaways.

"Gather everyone to the safety camps. We must prepare for the war that's about to happen." She ordered.

"But you said your father didn't want the earthly plane-" someone called out.

"Plans change. We have no time to waste. We must prepare for what's been unleashed. And we need to go now."

Fire caught the attention of everyone as a young teen with curled brown hair and glasses stepped in.

James.

"I don't know about y'all, but we should probably head out now. If I saw what I think I just saw, we stand no chance with that thing." James said in a serious tone, a smile on his face as his hands twitched for the gun strapped on his waistband of his pants.

With that, the crowd of runners dispersed, half splitting to the left, half to the right.

Jabez stared back, hands balled into fists. She felt a hand on her shoulder, and her first instinct was to break it. Ignoring it, she turned to see Ceollach, his eyes on her face.

She took his hand in both of his, a shaky breath leaving her body. "Seems my father found a new weapon after all. I should've killed her when I had the chance but I didn't take it-"

"Because that's not you anymore. You decide what happens now, Jabie. Not your father."

He cupped her face gently. "And now, you need to decide again. Are you going to let your father win? Or are you going to fight back?"

She gripped his hand back, eyes blazing in determination. Ceollach saw the answer there before she said the words.

"Yes. I'm going to fight. And I'm going to need your help." She replied.

"I'm with you until the end of time. But I must know; what and how does Laney fit into this?"

Before Jabez can respond, the building shakes, tremors reaching out to where they are. Jabez grabs Ceollach's hand before running, him quickly following after.

"It's a long story, and we're going to need to go back base so I can fill you in and we can plan."

"I thought this was the plan?!" Ceollach responded, panicked.

"Eh, we'll call it part A of the plan." Jabez called back, as a fallen brick flew past her shoulder.
