Marcus Sloan

A young man was sat on a bench by himself. He was in the middle of a cafeteria, in the middle of a ship, in the middle of space.

He looked out the window to be met with the empty nothingness that is outer space.

This man was Marcus Sloan and he wasn't where he was supposed to be.

Around 20 minutes ago Marcus Sloan had died. He was a seventeen year old youth who had spent the last nine years of his life in a hospital bed. At the age of 8 he had contracted a rare and fatal disease known as Kaido or the shivering death disease. He was the longest living patient lasting for over 9 years, whilst most patients last only 2.

It was a miracle that he lasted as long as he did but the real miracle came after his death.

Marcus died and then awoke in a body that was not his own. Although they shared the same name and handsome looks, he knew that this body wasn't his. For instance this new body had a large scar down the middle-left side of his body, it went from his new chiselled jawline, past his packed, lean pecks and ended at his third ab down on his ripped abdomen.

This new body of his came with new memories also. He was the son of an engineer on a ship known as the Ark. Now if this name sounds familiar it's because it should, it was the same name as the one from one of his favourite TV shows back on earth, The 100.

It was a show about the last of humanity trying to survive on a group of space stations all merged into one ship called the Ark. They decided to send 100 teenagers down to the ground ,AKA Earth, to see if it was liveable after 97 years of it being bathed in radiation, these were the 100. It was there job to find out if the ground was survivable and then report back to the others on the Ark, only it didn't go as they planned.

In hindsight sending a bunch of delinquents down to a radiation-soaked Earth on a recon mission was probably not a good idea. The 100 rebel and try to build their own society on the ground, but ultimately have to call for help when all hell breaks loose and the 100 get attacked by what's left of the human race on Earth, the Grounders.

Anyway back to Marcus, he was now inside the 100 TV series and not only that he was a prisoner as well, he would turn 18 in 2 months and if he remembered right the dropship would be sent down in 1 month. That gave him plenty of time to prepare for his descent to the ground.

It was at this moment that Marcus' table no longer became a loner's table, a group of young men and women came over and sat with him. He quickly searched through his new memories and found that these people were his friends, sort of. They were the people with whom he was locked in here with for the past year and as such he had developed a relationship with them.

"What up Marcus?" A tall black fellow asked as he sat down on Marcus' right side. "Nothing much, Mbege, how about you?" Marcus asked back. He remembered this guy from the show, he was one of the first two who took off their life sign bracelets. And funnily enough the one who sat on his other side was the other one, Murphy.

"I'm good Marc but Murphy here's in quite the mood." Mbege said while giggling and putting down his tray of food. "I'm not in a mood, I'm just pissed that they cut our rations again. I mean I know we're prisoners but they could at least not starve us like this." Murphy said in a huff.

"We'll be fine Murphy." Marcus said whilst quickly wolfing down his food. He excused himself from the table and went to the communal bathroom, in there he came face to face with another character from the show, another two in fact, Monty and Jasper. He greeted them casually and they looked at Marcus then just carried on what they were doing.

Suddenly an alarm went off for a second and then a guard walked in and said "Time for lock up." and led them back to their rooms.

This whole time Marcus had been in a kind of daze, he had met people who were just characters in a show in his previous life, yet now they were living, breathing people.

Marcus sat on his bed and was quickly snapped out of his daze by an unexpected surprise. A light blue screen was floating in front of him like a game's interface, it read as follows.

Marcus gasped in shock when he saw this. 'A system' he thought in his head with a look of awe on his face.

'Wow, you can even read my mind, what a great system. But what is it that you do exactly?' Marcus again asked in his mind. He would have talked out loud but he was in a room with three other people.

Marcus sighed in relief when he heard the system's sweet female voice say that in his head, the last thing he wanted was to be forced to do things that he didn't want to. It was at this point that the system made a ping noise in his head and he got a new message on the screen before his eyes.
