After Adrian and Logan finished testing how the new Maulerfiend and Heldrake worked they gathered everyone of importance at the entrance of Anor Londo. The original Fume Knights, Seraphine, Priscilla, Solaire, Ciaran, Artorias, and Sif were gathered.
Kalameet, Russ, Eeuwigdurend Amara, Scorn, Devastator Moxaura, and Theresia were here as well as Adrian explained why he gathered them. Everyone was curious about what could have gotten him to gather them together.
"Good news. I was given access to a place where we can fight strong foes. I have not checked it out yet, but we can't just sit still for a whole year. We all need to fight and gain stronger souls. We can always check on our old world, but that can wait for now."
August had several questions.
"So, what is this place you were given access to? Do you know what kind of foes or something?"
Adrian shook his head.
"That is just the thing, I have been told it is a dungeon with 1,000 floors, but I do not know anything else. Only that each floor will increase in danger and the strength of the foes we will face. Of course, where powerful foes are gathered souls are sure to be."
That seemed to get their attention. Dungeons were not a thing in Dark Souls, so they were thinking of something different. Seraphine found that impressive that such a place could exist. She, August, and Adrian had absorbed the Lord's souls, so they were pretty much gods. Finding something that could fight them was rare which got her interest.
"You had me at strong foes, so will we all check it out. You would not have gathered us all here if you were not going to take all of us."
"That was my plan. Unless you all want to stay here which I will understand. I am also willing to go alone if I need to. Well, I will be taking my dragons, my Manticores, and my Demons."
Now that they were looking at the Heldrake and the Maulerfiend they had some questions. Priscilla saw that those creatures contained a powerful soul that was kept in total suffering. It reminded her of the alter Adrian always spent time around.
"Uncle, are those demons as well? They seem different from the ones you make. Warped and they are full of rage and hate."
Adrian reached out and hugged the head of the Maulerfiend like it was a giant puppy.
"I know, aren't they awesome."
The Demon Engine did not know why it liked this sign of affection. Priscilla frowned.
"Not the words I would use. Especially that metal drake. I can feel the soul of someone trapped in there with the soul of the demon. In total agony."
Adrian nodded.
"That is exactly what fuels it. These are Demon Engines sold to me by Khorne. Heldrakes were once a machine that allowed one to fly in the sky, but now it has become possessed by a Demon of the Warp. They trap their former rider in total agony to fule their weapons."
The Fume Knights felt that was badass. Serapine walked up to the Heldrake and looked into its machine eyes. The creature looked into hers as they stared at the other. She smiled as she reached up and ran her hand down its face.
"Awesome is an understatement. I am obviously going. I want to see these two in action."
Solaire was in no way going to stay behind.
"Of course, I will go along. I am itching to test out my miracles again."
Artorias had to agree.
"I am not going to let you go into battle alone brother. I will follow."
Ciaran was the same.
"Where Artorias goes I have to be by his side. My daggers are at your service Adrian.
Sif howled as he thought the same. However, Edmund laughed at Solaire as the Warrior of Sunlight had turned to the battle junkie path.
"Look at this guy. A battle junkie already."
August snorted as he looked at him.
"You are no exception Edmund. I do not need to remind you of when you were young. You charged into battle like a headless chicken that I and the captain had to save.."
Edmund saw how everyone was laughing at him so he tried to salvage it.
"I was not that bad I brought victories.
Adrian glanced at Edmund who recoil in shame at his gaze.
"Oh yeah, I remember it well. I also remember I gave you an ass-kicking when you nearly died because of it."
Harold laughed at his friend who felt his pride was shattered.
"That is right. You had to stay in bed for a month with all the broken bones. Even your face looked like mash potatoes."
Edmund recoiled at the memory.
"I remember. Everyone laughed at me when I recovered. I was young. Remember that the Captain and Vice-Captain are older than all of us. You guys are ancient as you were born at the start of the war. I was born halfway through it and it had already been raging for millennia."
Seraphine always liked to hear stories of the long distant past. It was a memory to the Fume Knights who lived through it. For a second she noticed Adrian's face seemed disappointed, but he hit it quickly.
She felt he needed something to cheer him up, but that could wait.
"That is enough reminiscing about the past. We can do that later and remember my men. They deserve for us who knew them to remember them."
August walked up to him and patted him on the back.
"Captain, you did your best. We all did."
Adrian had lived through it in the visions of his memories. He saw it clear as day and the emotions were part of him.
"I guess I am just disappointed with the way that I died. Shameful for me to not last to the end."
Carnage shook his head.
"Captain, you fought at the front and killed more Silver Knights and Giants than all of us put together. Ornstein was a coward and used wave after wave of foes to exhaust you. We all should have been stronger and fought at your side for longer, but we failed you."
Adrian noticed how every single one of the Fume Knights nodded. They looked serious about it as they knew if not for him they would still be suffering. Adrian snorted.
"Well, let's fight a good fight in their memory. Everyone ready?"
The Fume Knights roared with battle instant. Amara looked down as she was curious about something.
'Master, can I go too?'
Adrian looked at his system as he had questions about what kind of dungeon it was.
'Hila, what is the dungeon-like?'
'Like Tower of God, and Second Life Ranker.'
'I got 1,000 floors to clear. Awesome.'
"Amara, it seems possible. I will have you, Scorn, Kalameet, Eeuwigdurend, Russ, Devastator, Theresia, and Moxaura in my Dragon Realm in case there is a place you do not fit. Unless you learned how to shrink."
Scorn and Devastator looked at each other as they did not have a single clue how to do that. Neither did Amara as changing her size was not something she knew how to approach.
'Ok.'
Adrian stored all o them in the Dragon Realm while he looked at everyone else. He saw how Priscila and Seraphine had their weapons ready. The Fume Knights were the most prepared as they had been forged on the battlefield. Solaire looked itching to fight while Artorias and Ciaran also seemed ready.
As for Sif, the good wolf was waiting to enter. As for his Demons, they were looking with red eyes from his shadow as they waited to emerge. His two Demon Engines at his sides could feel his emotions and it caused their engines to burn darker.
"Alright then. Let's go."
In front of Adrian, a purple portal opened.
"Start going in. I got to keep it open."
They started to rush inside as they did not want to cause Adrian too much trouble. In the end, it was just him, his Heldrake, and his Maulerfiend. He did not let them wander around too much as they would kill everything in sight if given the chance.
"Let's go."
Adrian walked into the portal followed by his two Demon Engines. When he entered the portal he saw that he was in a fast barren field. The sky was blood red and the air stung the eyes. However, he found that he was alone.
Only his Demon Engines, his demons, and the creatures in his dragon realm were with him.
"Hila, what happened? Where is everyone else."
He soon saw a new prompt that Hila explained to him something.
"Ok, will they respawn if they die?
"Damn. If we want to leave can we?"
"I see. This changes things. I won't have to complete different quests and just kill everything. Simple enough."
As if hearing his thoughts the ground began to tremble and from it emerged undead knights. These were not Hollows, but genuine zombies. Only that they did not look like they were going to charge in and they seemed to be taking a battle formation.
They had archers, swordmen, horseback riders, mages, and even a giant armored knight that had an aura in the Satan Class. He felt plenty strong and it made Adrian want his soul and body.
"Can I keep the body?"
Just as Adrian thought it would be easy enough they unleashed their aura. Most of them were in the peak Ultimate class. The general and one of each class mage, archer, rouge, shielder, and even a knight.
There were thousands of them so this just turned deadly. The field looked to be unending so he did not know how many Zombies he had to deal with.
"Is everyone else fighting this many?"
"I love you too you flirt."
The first thing Adrian did was to bring out Scorn, Devestor, Russ, Eeuwigdurend, Kalameet, Moxaura and Theresia. He did not bring Amara out though which made her confused. She wanted to help.
'Why?
'Sorry Amara, you are too strong. There are 1,000 floors so in time we will need your power.'
'Oh. I am not needed.'
She slumped into a ball disappointed and he swore her eyes were pouting. He felt if she could she would be crying. He felt bad as he could feel how excited she was about this.
'Next round. I promise."
That seemed to get her to perk up.
'Promise.'
'Yes, I promise.'
'Really?'
"I swear you are getting more self-aware by the day. Not bad."
Adrian focused back on the Zombie Knights who had not attacked yet. He saw he had a two minutes before the trial began.
"Now this is a party. Zombies vs Dragons and Demons. I know who will win."
Moxaura and Theresia roared at him as they felt ignored.
"Yes, yes. Manticores are well."
Moxaura and the three heads of Theresia licked him covering him in drool.
"Yes, I know. Focus."
From his shadow emerged 500 Six armed giant Abyss Knights. They were each armed with 5 blades and a large shield in their main left arm. Each one radiated an aura bordering on the Satan class.
The Abyss Fire raged in their souls which made their eyes glow dark purple as they gazed at the much larger army. Adrian whistled and the Demon horse he made came over to his side. Adrian placed his arm on the horse and created a saddle and armor from the Abyss Fire and Titanite Slabs in an instant.
"You need a name buddy. Erebus seems nice."
Erebus seemed to like the sound of that. Adrian put his foot in the strap and lifted himself onto the back of the giant horse. Erebus rose to his back legs with the pride of being chosen as his war mount.
The other dragons and Manticores seemed annoyed, but they did not let it bother them. The horse seemed custom-made for someone of Adrian's size as each of his Abyss Knights was at his size.
Adrian pointed to one of the Abyss Knights and stationed him next to his Maulerfiend.
"You, keep him fed when he finishes his ammunition."
Adrian brought out a giant pile of silver knight armor. The Abyss Knight stood next to the Chaos Engine who had long since pointed his twin Hades Autocannons at the hoard of Zombie Knights.
They were spinning and ready to fire. Adrian watched as the timer kept going down. Adrian's army might be small, but he was not scared. He reached behind him and drew his blades.
"BATTLE STATIONS!"
The Abyss Knights all took battle stations while his dragons and his Manticores took to the sky. They began to circle in the sky as they waited for the clash to start. Adrian saw how the Zombie Knights reacted to his choices as they brought forth their mages.
They did not have flying mounts so they were getting ready for his flying creatures. They had the number advantage, but his troops were stronger individually. Just before the timer reached 0, the Zombie General got on a Zombie horse just as large as Erebus.
"DEMONS ARE BETTER THAN ZOMBIES!"
The general did not react but merely made hand motions to set up some battle formations. When the timer reached zero it roared and ordered the charge.
"FIRE!"
The Maulerfiend roared as it began to unload the salvo of Titanite shells. The mage Zombies made some magic shields to stop the salvo of exploding shells, but the Abyss Fire burned through them anyway.
In that one salvo, several Zombie Knights were blasted to pieces. The Maulerfiend did not stop firing as the twin Hades Cannon burned in Abyss Fire making them even harder to block.
Seeing that made the Satan Class shielder Zombie slam his shield with his arm causing a giant barrier to form blocking the following shells. In that one salvo, 20 Zombie knights were killed. They considered it a priority target.
Once it ran out of ammunition the Abyss Knight began to shovel the armor into its mouth to reload. Adrian grinned as he took his first blood.
"TAKE TO THE SKIES!"
All of his flying creatures rose to the sky, while Adrian's demons began to march forward. The ground trembled as the giant Abyss Demons were larger than the zombie Knights. Only the Satan class ones were the same size as them, but that did not matter.
Each Abyss Knight moved in a stable formation side by side while their shields were ready. Adrian was at the very front of the army. This was going to be fun.
