Chapter 17
Staying in the house for a whole day with Mira is seriously a very bad decision to make, Chris feels suffocated and had to leave the house. He lied to her about going to get something from a friend and left with his phone because she didn't trust him, to make her believe he is not trying to run away he dropped his phone and drove off to josh's house to stay till Monday.
Josh's house is suited at the center of the city which took him a forty minutes drive down there, he parked his car outside and went inside knowing what the password to his house is.
He opened the door and saw josh on the phone with someone, on seeing him, he nod at him and continue to talk
"of course, if I see him I will surely call you" he said to the caller before cutting the call
"is that Mira?" Chris asked knowingly as he sink into one of the couch
"yes, what happened? I thought you live together, she even called me with your number when I didn't pick hers" he queried then sat down beside him
"she is just crazy" Chris commented tired, josh let out a laughter and hit Chris on the shoulder lightly
"that's what you get for playing with two girls" he mocked
"you must find all this funny right?" he asked annoyed and josh stopped laughing
"sorry but I told it was a bad ideal in the first place, you know she I clearly possessed with you yet you allow her live with you" josh pointed out
"I thought it will be better with Laura around"
"that's what you get for sacrificing for a woman" he mocked again
"i did not do it for her" he interjected
"why else will you give her such opportunity and put yourself at the mercy of your mother and Mira"
"don't lecture me right now, am staying here till Monday" he told him and went inside the room to rest

Laura stayed with Ella throughout the day and also slept over at her house till Monday morning, she met with her daughter and introduced herself as her godmother. Princess was so playful and obedient, the both of them became friends and she was able to catch up on a lot of things with Ella
It was so much better than going back to the house to be faced with Mira and Chris displaying their affection all over the place, she feels so irritated by her actions and how brazen to come live with a married man.
She woke up from the bed and hurried into the bathroom, she went to bed late last night and forgot about the meeting she has with Chris's company by 9 in the morning.
Ella gave her some of her clothes and she quickly dress up and went out to meet her driver who is waiting for her by the car and left to the company, she arrived in about an hour and hurried out of the car with Clara waiting patiently at the entrance for her
"how many minutes is left?" she asked as she handover her bag to her and took the file in her hand
"we have about thirteen minutes before they get here" Clara answered and start to brief her about her other schedule for the day.
Listening to all the things she need to take care of before the day runs out make her feel sick, she walk into the elevator and soon arrive on her office floor then turned sharply to Clara who was still talking about some other information
"the CEO wouldn't be joining us for the meeting today right?" Clara was taken aback by her question but was quick to answer
"yes, he was suppose to be here but we got a message that he wouldn't be able to attend
"okay then, lets delay the business for about five more minutes" she bossed
"and also let everyone will sited before then" she added and walk into her office slamming the door in Clara's face
She sat down and closed her eyes briefly looking tiredly, she opened her computer to see if she has any message and to see if there is no reply from her father but there is none, she closed the computer and heard a knock on the door
"come in" she said, Clara entered
"they are here" she informed
"i said in five minutes" she boomed
"the thing is, Mr Chris is also here" Laura spring up from her seat on hearing his name
"who is here?" she asked to be sure
"Your husband" Clara said trying to be more clear
"what is he doing here?" she said asking no one in particular
"he didn't call throughout the weekend so why is he here now?" she murmured under her breath
"what do you mean ma'am?" Clara asked confused at her reaction
"i wasn't talking to you, lets go" she responded and took her phone then left to the meeting room while Clara took the necessary document and followed her
She entered the room ignoring everyone's greeting and went to sit down opposite Chris. She motioned to Clara and she came forward and dropped the files with her on the table in front of her.
"lets start" Laura said and Clara nodded but Chris's secretary stopped her
"Miss Laura, I believe you should apologize for keeping us waiting" Sarah said glaring at her, Laura looked at her annoyed by her words.
"Miss Laura?" she grimaced and stare at Chris as he pretend not to see her.
Every other person in the room keep quiet to watch what drama is threatening to happen, even though Laura is not a good manager but she hates it when someone question her on anything and Chris's secretary just crossed the line
"Miss Sarah, I don't quite agreed with what you just said we were not informed about Mr Chris presence in today's meeting" Clara defended
"does that justify you being late?" Sarah attacked
"you want me to wait for you" Laura cut in before Clara could reply
"i didn't know that Miss Sarah thinks so high of herself to except us to be the one waiting" she added angrily and there was complete silent in the room, Sarah felt intimidated
"that's not what I meant" Sarah said in her defense and looked at Chris to help her out but he was just staring into space ignoring her.
Even though they have an advantage on Lovelies group but they are still so powerful more than her company, she just wanted to impress Chris because she knows that their marriage was not with mutual feelings and seeing the way he ignored her when she entered, she had the full confidence to challenge her
Ever since the announcement about Chris's marriage to Laura, a lot of girls in their company were heartbroken including Sarah who always help him to keep Mira out of the office so she thought maybe he has nobody he's interested in planning to make her move one at a time but who will expect that he will get married suddenly to someone they never thought about.
"hmmm" Chris cleared his throat suddenly and they all turned their attention to him
"you can handle this without me right?" he asked turning to his staffs and they nodded yes sharply, to begin with they didn't need his presence there to settle things but he suddenly got to the office this morning and insist on going with them
"then I will leave you to it" he said and walk towards Laura
"lets talk" he said placing his hand on her shoulder but Laura snatch his hand away angrily
Everyone start to whisper among themselves if its a lover's quarrel or not including Clara who was still angry about what happened with Avan the other day
"do you want us to talk in front of everyone" Chris bend down and whispered to her
"i don't think we have anything to discuss apart from business" she restored loudly and the murmuring increased
"i wanted to talk about that night in my room and…" Chris stood away from her and was saying when Laura suddenly stood up from her seat and pull a hand across his mouth to stop him from saying anymore
"are you crazy?" she asked feeling embarrassed as the whole body start to look at the two of them grinning
"lets talk in my office" she said then drag him outside, they got to her office an she push him in and lock the door then fold her hands together
"what is wrong with you?" she asked still upset
"what do you mean? You scratch my hand" he answered displeased
"you said nothing happened that night" she snapped trying to lower her voice
"i didn't say otherwise did I?" he asked and sat down while Laura followed him and stood in front of him
"why are you even here? Shouldn't you be nursing your darling" she asked sarcastically and Chris laughed softly, his voice felt pleasure to Laura's ears that she almost laugh along but still manage to maintain her stern face
"are you jealous?" he asked with a sweet smile that almost melt her mind
"what nonsense are you saying?" she stuttered and sat down beside him subconsciously
"I just feel like what you both are doing is totally wrong, I know you like each other but still, you are a married man" she pointed to define her anger
"really? Is that it?" he asked clearly showing that he doesn't believe her
"of course, am not concerned about your relationship but am still your wife, I cant believe she said those nonsense to my face" she replied getting pissed off again
"where were you on Saturday night and throughout yesterday?" he questioned nodding his head at her other words
"I didn't want to disturb the both of you" she answered sulking.
