Chapter 57

Laura placed the results in her hands on the table and pushed it towards Sharon, she is confused but still pick up the file to see what it is about.

Laura has thought of the best way to expose her lies and finally kick her out of their lives but after much considerations, she decide to let Nicholas know about it first.

knowingly his personality, he is surely not aware about his mother's atrocities and even if he won't betray his mother she should let him know and become aware but didn't except the opposite outcome.

Nicholas seems to have found out about it or was suspecting but when Laura came to him, he confirmed his fear and was very devastated and sad.

He agreed with Laura in her plan to send his mother packing but begged her not to make it public because he wouldn't be able to face the humiliation.

Laura assured him and even informed him about getting her father to come back while Nicholas also her about his mother's lies to him about Laura's mother that made him hate her at first, the both of them cleared their misunderstanding and talked without insulting each other for the first time

"What is this about? What game are you trying to play with me?" Sharon flared, agitated by the content of the paper with her, although no one explained to her about the papers but she can roughly guess what this is about.

The first paper read 99.99% not related and the second which is a test between Laura and Nicholas says that the two are not siblings with the third paper showing Nicholas blood group and genotype

"Am sure you are learned and can understand those papers, I remember the result you bought when you first came to this house is quite different from this ones" Laura said with anger evident in her voice and paused to take a breath

"Explain why this is different now?!" She yelled not able to calm down

"Did you go behind my back to conduct a test? How can you still doubt me after so many years?" Sharon said to Dave playing the pity card.

Of all things she thought Laura will accuse her of, she never except it to be one of her hidden secret she has even forgotten about, she will never have except Laura to doubt the fact about Nicholas being her real brother or not.

She has full trust that this part of her lie will never be uncovered by anyone especially not Laura and even forged a medical report for them years back.

With no expectation of this turn of event, Sharon didn't have a counterplan to rectify the situation so she can also maintain her ground

Sharon turned to Nicholas with tears forming in her eyes and when she saw the look in his eyes, she almost lost her stand but she didn't, having planned this for such a long time now she is not going to give up with a try

"Nicholas, do you believe her? How can you not trust your mother?" She cried but sees that her words doesn't have any effect on him but still continued to cry and blame Laura

"You left me for so many years now because of your long dead wife and even made sure I don't have a proper tittle. How could you come back now and accuse me of such a thing? What nonsense as that witch of a daughter told you for you to humiliate me like this" she cried and held his clothes with tears. Nicholas who couldn't bear to see his mother that way turned away his face but knowing that she is still lying and playing the victim even after knowing that her secret is out, he feels more sorry for himself

Dave was angered that she dared to take his wife's name and pushed her away roughly, he took the papers she threw on the floor and throw them in her face

"Sharon, you really are a despicable woman. Even after seeing this clear evidence you still dare to cry and lie to my face" he yelled so loudly that his noise attract the maids who were already wondering what is going on and they rushed out to see for themselves.

The three of them were excited to see that their master is finally back after so long and is curious as to why he is so angry the minute he came in.

"Dave!" Sharon yelled back at shocked that he pushed her away.

"Dont call my name in that vile mouth of yours!" Dave yelled back and Laura and Nicholas stood up on their feet also to stop them

"Dad" Laura called to remind him to stay calm while Nicholas went to his mother and bent down to her on the floor

"Mom, you should just apologize and beg for mercy instead of…" Nicholas received a slap on his face before he could finish and held his face.

"You idiot! What are you excepting to happen after you've turned back on me? You think she will let you have anything?" Sharon yelled in defeat knowing she can no longer keep her act.

"Mum! Are you still thinking about money right now? You lied to me and everyone, you destroyed a family!" Nicholas stressed

"If he wanted to keep his family then he shouldn't have slept with me, what do you think will happen to an unfaithful man?" Sharon said and laughed like a mad woman then stood up from the ground slowly and walk up to Laura who stood arms akimbo

"I am going to finish you off the way I did to your mother!" She threatened and Laura felt shaken by her words

"How you killed my mother?!" She asked

"Haven't you found out about that too?" She said and smirked in a mocking way then sat down

The three of them including the maids stare at her shocked to hear that she has something to do with Laura's mother's death

"Miss Steven, do you remember her?" Sharon asked but didn't get a reply although Laura remembers her vividly, she was her mother's housekeeper then and also a very close person to her and her mother but she suddenly quit not long after her mother's death and Laura couldn't trace her whereabout

"I took her son and had her put some drugs in your mother's drink every night before going to bed" she confessed and everyone opened their mouth in shock. Dave's hands dropped and his body trembled with feelings of anger and sadness

"But after sometimes, I noticed she is still alive and well so I questioned Miss Steven and she confessed that she stopped giving her the drug so I made my next plan, a way to get rid of her quicker and settle everything"

Without explaining further, the three of them could guess what happened. When her mother was shot and sent to the hospital, Laura thought it was just some thieves who came to steal money and shot her mother in the process but who could have guessed that they were sent by her father's mistress.
