Let Her Go

"Oh no!" Eva suddenly exclaimed. Chris and the others looked at her questioningly. Eva grabbed Chris's shoulders as she asked him, "Did you ask her what's inside the box?"

"That's right! Did you ask her?" Roda also asked.

"Now that I think about it, that girl was pretty cute," Kyrie said while rubbing his chin.

"Yeah, she was okay. I'll rate her 8/10." Nachtan nodded his head.

Kyrie looked at Nachtan with widened eyes, "What? Only 8?! Didn't you see she was THICC?!"

"Don't ask him," Chris said.

"What does that even mean?" Nachtan asked.

Kyrie smiled at Nachtan's question as he smiled, "Come here, I'll show you the right way, my friend."

"You just had to ask," Chris said while looking at Nachtan.

Nachtan shrugs, "How bad could it be?" He said as he follows Kyrie.

Chris looks at the two as they head over someplace where they will surely be talking about some sexual stuff and he does not want any part of that. Kyrie tends to get carried away sometimes. And by sometimes he means every time he starts his 'show the right way talk.

"Where are they going?" Roda asked.

"Somewhere far I hope," Chris said as he peels off Eva's hands on his shoulders. "I forgot to ask her but I think it's for the best."

"Why?" Eva asked. "I want to see if it's really a chair." She murmured.

Chris smiled as he patted her head, "Don't think about it too much. How about I sing a song for you?"

Roda asked, "You will sing? Should I cover my ears?". Chris stared at her as she raised her hands, "I'm just joking okay."

"I want to hear it!" Eva said.

"Okay, we should sit there first." He pointed at the bench under a tree. Their school has these random trees with benches under them for students. This is so that they can spend some time outside, breathing fresh air while not in direct exposure to the sun.

When they reached the bench, Eva and Roda sat on Chris' sides. With Eva on the left and Roda on the right. The bench was long but the two girls insisted on sticking close to him. Though he had no idea why and if he can remember, the two of them never saw him as a love interest in the past.

What Chis had failed to take into consideration is that this is not his previous world but an Alternate Universe. And the things that have happened in his previous world might not happen here. While things that shouldn't have to happen might happen. That is also the reason while some of the few famous songs he could remember were not in this world.

"So what song will you sing?" Roda asked him.

Chris thought about for a bit, thinking which song he should sing. As he did not have the time to write an original one yet, he decided to plagiarize some from his previous world as what he had found on the internet. Some of the songs he loves to listen to were not found. Though he would not be able to remember a lot of songs, at least he can still bring the songs he loves to this world.

"I'll sing a song I wrote," Chris said.

"You wrote a song?!" Roda was surprised since she had never seen Chris be interested in music. Though he likes to write poems, he had never shown interest in writing songs since he says that he has a very bad voice.

"Wow! You can write a song!" Meanwhile, Eva was also surprised.

Chris nodded, "Yes, and I'll let you guys tell me if it sucks."

Roda and Eva nodded their head as they waited. Chris first took a deep breath before he started.

"Well, you only need the light when it's burning low"

As soon as Roda heard him sing, her eyes widened in surprise as she looks at him, this time with curiosity in her eyes. While Eva's eyes sparkled as she happily listens to him singing.

"Only miss the sun when it starts to snow"

"Only know you love her when you let her go"

"Only know you've been high when you're feeling low"

"Only hate the road when you're missing home"

"Only know you love her when you let her go"

"And you let her go"

Chris proceeded to sing the song "Let Her Go" by Passenger from his previous life. This was also one of the songs that hit him hard when he broke up with his first girlfriend. Along with Ed Sheeran's "Happier" that made him cry. Was not able to stop singing the song for the whole month which annoyed his parents, friends, and his teachers.

He had slowly attracted the attention of some students loitering around. As the teachers won't be teaching them anything else other than an orientation this week, they have a lot of free time to talk to each other and familiarize themselves with the place.

Kyrie and Nachtan were also back this time. With some of their classmates coming along, they were surprised to hear Chris singing in an unfamiliar voice. What was surprising is that Chris is singing well.

Though it was not on the same level star singers would be, he is still a pretty decent singer. His voice was very soothing to hear and was addictive. There were some girls entranced by his singing voice and were wondering just how he looks under that hood.

Chris' singing voice was not loud, but the surrounding was very quiet that was why he was heard singing by students who were also hanging out in the mini-park inside the school. Chris was fortunate that he did not decide to go all out as he had no idea how these people would have reacted.

Though there were no professionals here that could judge his voice, there will surely be somebody recording this and uploading it on the internet. If by some odd chance, a professional was to hear him singing with a voice that rivals a star singer, then he will surely get pulled over the celebrity circle. Which he finds himself to be too young for that.

Although he had randomly said that he would sing, Chris had taken the proper precaution to not cause himself trouble. He had considered that some people might hear him singing even though he was not doing it intentionally. A video of him singing might also be uploaded on the internet and he had also taken that into consideration. That's why he had not taken off his hood.

Right after he was done singing, he was greeted by warm applause from his small audience.

"That was really great!"

"I teared up listening to a song, this is unbelievable!"

"Anyone knows who he is? What year is he?"

Chris smiled hearing their applause and bowed slightly to express his gratitude. He then dragged the two girls, Roda and Eva, who were still in a trance after his song ended. Kyrie and the others also followed him.

"Oi! When did you start singing so well?" Kyrie asked him.

"During summer," Chris answered. He had already thought over the things that have changed in him and came up with reasons why. He had also based this on what he had really done during the summer. Which is just him reading novels all day inside his room. Only left when he needed to use the bathroom or to eat.

"Are you broken-hearted?" Roda asked. She was analyzing the song and she came up to the conclusion that Chris' inspiration in writing the song must have been a breakup. The only problem is that they had never seen him with a girlfriend in school. And they had also never heard him talk about a girl.

Chris thought for a bit and then answered, "I have written the song a long time ago, and yes, my inspiration for writing the song is a breakup."

Chris was so calm about it that everyone stared at him with surprise. But Kyrie was not.

"Wait! Wait! Wait!" Kyrie stopped them as he stood in front of them. He then stared at Chris, "You mean to say you were in a relationship before?"

"That's because we keep it private. And we didn't tell anyone except our classmates who also keep it secret for us." Chris explained.

"When was it?!" Kyrie asked.

"Why are you asking me that. I won't tell you." Chris said.

"What?! Come on!"

"Nope," Chris said without any bit of hesitation.

"Hahaha…" Nachtan and the other boys laughed at Kyrie. While Eva was praising him for writing a very good song and then patting his head, comforting him from his breakup. Which to be honest, he had a long move on from.

He was not the same Chris as before.

"What's the name of the song anyways." Roda suddenly asked.

Chris continued walking in silence, Roda and the others also did not disturb him as they waited for his answer. When they were near their classroom, Chris walked in front of them.

Opening the door, Chris turned back to look at them. With his soft voice, they felt his sorrow.

"I named it 'Let Her Go'."

Then he closed the door behind them.
