The Awakening I

To start the fight off, Golden Goose, at the front, swung her sword at the Purple Rabbit that already took a fierce hit from Fang. It died instantly, leaving a questing token. One dead, 24 to go. The party started killing the rabbits like this : Fang would shoot one of his Earthen Shard towards a rabbit while Golden Goose would finish it off with a slash from her giant, two-handed sword. Kirk would then fire a Mana burst from his wand while Black Tooth would fire arrows to finish the wounded monsters. Like this, the party slew about half of the Purple Rabbits, getting 12 of the 25 tokens required for the quest.

Then, a strange phenomenon started to happen. The monsters started to get in a way more organized formation. As if they suddenly understood the Mages' attacks, they also started to dodge a good chunk of the attacks Kirk and Fang threw at them. Also managing to get closer to Golden Goose, they started dealing serious damage to the team. Seeing as Golden Goose was getting low on health, Kirk unexpectedly shouted : "Take a healing potion, I'll distract them!" He then pushed Black Tooth and Fang out of the way and an explosion resounded. Stunned, Fang saw blue smoke and fire around the small figure of Kirk. The explosion seemed to confuse and even fatally damage some of the rabbit monsters. Golden Goose drank a red potion.

"Thanks sugar, I'll take the lead from here", she then shouted to the party.

"HAHAHA ! So that was the power Kirk told us about", said Black Tooth with an excited tone.

Still a bit shocked at this attack's power, Fang proceeded to get back into formation. "Impressive, the attack didn't even seem to consume Mana or fatigue him much", he also remarked while looking at the fine Kirk.

Back into combat, the members of the party finished killing off the last Purple Rabbits. These kills were easier since their earlier formation was broken down in the chaos that ensued after Kirk's Mana Explosion.

<+3 free skill points>

Fang and Black Tooth also levelled up at the end of the fight. Fang decided to put his free skill points in agility, endurance and intelligence, thinking that this would render him less squishy in a fight. Luckily for the party, a few items beside the questing tokens dropped from this hard fight.

[Purple Fur's helmet]

[Grey-Common]

[Defense : 3]

[Purple Rabbit's Fang]

[Grey-Uncommon]

[Attack Power : 5-7]

[A mage wand formed from the fang of a particularly fierce rabbit. +10% to neutral element attack]

[Purple Claw Arrow (x10)]

[Grey-Common]

[Attack Power : 3]

The helmet went to the team's tank, Golden Goose and as for the arrows, they went to the team's only archer, Black Tooth. The wand on the other hand, was a bit harder to distribute, seeing as there were 2 Mages. In the end, the party decided it would go to Kirk, since his attack were based around the neutral element.

"Can I know what that crazy explosion was ?" Fang asked Kirk, curious as to which kind of attack wouldn't consume Mana and could be this strong.

"It's a skill I got on my first quest. I still don't really know where it came from but when I checked my profile after I spoke to Ike, the skill had appeared out of nowhere." he answered calmly.

Even though Fang felt as if Kirk was hiding something from them, he didn't ask about it anymore and started preparing for the boss fight that seemed imminent.

"In exchange for the info on his skill, can we know more about this shoulder guard of yours", asked Black Tooth.

"It's nothing much really, the stupid piece of gear I got from killing White Rabbits has the effect of scaring other rabbits." Fang told him, a bit embarrassed.

"Well sweetie, why don't you put it on for the boss, even though it's annoying against a flock of monsters like the Rabbits from before, it might prove useful if the boss doesn't target a mage like you." Golden Goose proposed.

Seeing no reason as to not try it against, Fang put the shoulder guard on and took a piece of Elven Bread, feeling the fight was going to start soon.

As a matter of fact, the Purple Rabbit's Commoner appeared.

There is was, in all it's glory. In comparaison to the ~30cm high Purple Rabbits, the boss was a full 2 meter high. It's fangs and claws, while still being purple, had a dangerous feeling to them. Even though rabbits were not scary by any means, one couldn't help but get frightened by this monstrosity.

"No pain, no gain !" Golden Goose screamed, as a war cry, before running towards the Purple Rabbit Commoner.

Kirk and Fang both started launching spell at the monster while Black Tooth began shooting with his newly acquired arrows.

The Mages were stunned as they realized the boss had a lot of magic resistance. They still did not back out though and continued to support Golden Goose with a barrage of their spells. The moment she started to block the attack instead of attacking, the monstrous rabbit actually used an ability.

"DODGE!" Black Tooth cried out, as he saw the attack coming with his enhanced Ranger's eyesight.

Caught short, the old women tried dodging only to get pounced on by the giant rabbit. She was sent flying a few meter because of the heavy weight of the rabbit, her HP quickly dwindling. Fang could swear he saw the boss smirk after this attack. Enraged, and seeing the purple beast was now directing his attention to Black Tooth, he shouted to Kirk :

"If you have any big moves left, it's now or never".

"..." Kirk didn't answer, letting his actions speak for himself. He started running, passing Black Tooth, and then, with both of his palms towards the boss, he shouted, with his voice that was unusually loud : "BLUE FIREBALL!", a huge mass of blue fire then started forming a few centimeters from his palms, before he sent the fireball to the boss.

Kirk started running back to his usual position, a bit shaky, to then fall to the ground, fainting a few meters behind Fang.

"We have to finish the fight fast!" Black Tooth exclaimed, seeing as Golden Goose was starting to recover and wanting to help Kirk.

Unfortunately for the party, the boss's HP now being a bit below the 30%, the boss went berserk. On the other hand, the party's tank was now back in the fight, and she was being more careful in addition to being full HP again.

When going berserk, a boss gained new abilities and had an augmentation in it's offensive stats. Luckily for Fang's party though, this upgrade was relative to the boss level, and the Purple Rabbit's Commoner being level 3 meant the increase in power wasn't very sizable.

After being going berserk, the boss seemed a bit faster and it's before-hand fluffy fur now seemed spiky which, sadly for Golden Goose, reflected a lot of the physical damage done to it. Not wanting to damage herself, she decided to stop attacking and she concentrated on blocking the hits. The new fur didn't affect the ranged attackers though, so she let them do the damage. The boss died within 30 more seconds of the fight.

"Woohoo, we've done it" Golden Goose screamed out loud with a happy expression, not having a clue that she was celebrating too early…
