Jack looked at the information of his zubat and nodded in satisfaction. There is only 1 level away to form poison sags and all three of the abilities have reached normal level. Raising to normal level mastery is not too difficult and can be achieved by training. But for expert you need to use in the real life combat, only after knowing your shortcoming and improving you can achieve expert.
For today battle, Jack main focus to train is Gust and Quick Attack. After hitting the tree with wings too many times, zubat wings are stronger than its peers and about to learn wing attack. He just needs to utilized flying energy into his wings. Gust is basic flying type move so it can help zubat to sense flying energy and use it flexibly. Quick attack is the foundation of Agility and Aerial Ace. If zubat can reach expert in Quick Attack, he can start to train his hereditary abilities.
After walking and searching Jack found a pidgey. He looks at is information and found out that it is perfect opponent for zubat.

"Wow, light yellow is still rare in normal wild but it is pretty common in this island. It can still give me a few points but I only have 10 pokeballs to spare. I will just have to beat it and leave it and capture some green ones if possible. Zubat this time I won't command you into battle! You will just have to fight with your own instinct."
In this world, normal trainer will command whatever he likes, a good trainer have his own battle style but only the best trainer will develop tactic according to their pokemon. Some pokemon likes to meet with force to force and assert dominance. Some pokemon like to play with speed and some pokemon like to outsmart others. Its like their personality and if trainer change it forcefully, their performance will drop.
So for his first opponent, Jack wants to see how zubat plays. He does not worry because zubat is bigger, faster and have 2 levels higher. Just to be sure he turn off the weight bearing device tho. First battle is always important and this battle zubat needs overwhelming victory to develop confidence and knows that those harsh and cruel training are now without result.
Pidgey does not know his danger yet and is still resting on the tree while zubat quietly approach it and use supersonic. At first it wants to use Astonish but thanks to Jack it has no effect on normal types like pidgey. After getting hit with supersonic from nowhere the wild pidgey is confused and angry.
Zubat use this opportunity and use quick attack and hit pidgey face with his wings to knock it down from the tree. Getting hit in the head is critical hit for normal pokemon unless they have hard head. Even after it fell down the effect of confusion is not over. After seeing that zubat hit with another quick attack to the head again. At this point, pidgey regain its conscious but it is too late. Zubat is already finished brewing flying energy and use gust to finish it off. After getting hit in the head twice and hit by strong tornado pidgey fainted and lost combat ability.
Jack does not like to kill mild pokemons normally if they do not attack first so after letting zubat use absorb and sucks its blood for a bit. Jack left the place.
In this battle zubat does not take a single hit. Seeing that Jack approved his tactics and pet zubat head. "Good job you little smart ass." Zubat is the type to outsmart others so kiting tactic works best with him.
After beating pidgey zubat does not gain another level which is understandable because there is a tiny bottleneck there. Zubat needs to beat some stronger opponents to overcome this bottleneck.
For the next opponent, Jack decided to go places where ekans are found because he needs to find poison sags and ekans and Arbok are solitary hunters so it is perfect. When they arrived at the place where ekans are most likely to be found, they saw a tall grass. Zubats flap his wings and warns Jack that there are several pokemons in this tall grass and they will suffer from sneak attack if they choose to go in.
Seeing this, Jack starts to make a plan to lure ekans. First he needs some bait so he use food from dry ration as treats and place it at the entrance of the grass and waited.
Jack does not have to wait too long, 3 rattata came out of the bush and start eating the food. After 10 minutes, zubat warns Jack that something is approaching to where the rattatas are. Jack nodded and said, "Zubat, do not attack right away, wait for when it lets it guard down and use Astonish and Supersonic first. Then use quick attack and aim for his head."
Not long after Jack said to zubat, there is big movement in the grass that startled the rattatas, they want to run but they are too late. Ekans bounce and bite one of them and warp it. Other two rattatas leave their comrades to death and run away. Ekans does not chase and start to devour the dead rattata. Jack looks at ekans information and swallowed his saliva.
