What Happened Last Night?

He rushed to the other side of the street and saw the green bench. He saw the shop but he was certain that that was not the shop he was looking for. He felt lost. He wanted to trace back his steps to get to Lizzy's place and talk to her about how they met. Maybe then he would have a glimpse of what is going on.

He tried asking around but everyone kept talking about the same shop that he was sure wasn't the place he was looking for. "There must be someone who knows where the other shop is. I can't be lost. Not in a city I don't know about." As darkness crept into the sky so did worry enter his heart.

"You seem lost, what are you looking for now." The little teen was at his sight again. "You didn't find the shop?" Davis was too frustrated to answer her. "It's not the one I am looking for." He kept on walking. "Wait, maybe I know the one you are searching for. Is it Old Mouche Brothers' store?"

He stood for a second and looked back. He knew that it had to be the one he wanted. "Where is that place." He asked with an angry voice. "You really have to work on how you plan on getting help around here with that voice of yours. Okay then, I'll take you there cause it's some distance."

He was so focused on getting back to Lizzy's place that he did not care how long he had walked or how tired he was. "Let's go. Sorry for sounding harsh. Had a long day." He felt calm this time. "No problem. I will take you there but I bet by now it's closed." She told him as she pointed ahead.

The two walked for about 20 minutes till Davis reached a place that he was familiar with. "Hey, I think I know this place. I think I'm okay now, thanks." He told the young girl as he dashed off after seeing Lizzy's apartment. "You haven't even said your…" That was all Davis heard while he was running.

Davis wasn't even sure if Lizzy would help him with his problem but he had nothing to do or nowhere else to go at that time of the night. He only knew Lizzy in the entire country. He hoped that he would find her there. "Hey, don't lock please." He told one of the tenants entering the apartment.

He was panting like a leopard that missed its catch. He was dripping sweat all over his body. Even the areas we can't talk about. He knew that he was tired and getting to the sixth floor was not going to be easy but he had no choice. He needed to understand what is happening to him and only Lizzy may know.

He reached to her door and knocked. No one was answering. There was no sound as if no one was home. "And I thought this day can't get any worse." Davis's frustration could be smelled in his stench. He opted to stay on her doorstep until she came home. He didn't know what time but he hoped she comes.

"Hey sleepyhead, you are still here?" A familiar sound woke the sleeping tired Davis from his slumber. He had been walking the entire day he was too tired to wait. "Oh sorry, I had nowhere else to go." He forced himself up. "You said that last night too. You need a better story if I am to keep letting you in."

Lizzy opened the door and rushed to the loo. Davis drags himself to bed, full of thought, and asks loudly. "What happened last night?" He couldn't stop staring at the ceiling, wondering if there were answers that he would find here. "What?" Lizzy came out of the loo and looked at Davis.

"I thought I told you to go to the police. What are you still doing here?" She asked him with her arms on her waist to show how serious she was. "Hey, I'm sorry but there are things that I need to understand first. I am super confused right now. What happened last night? How did we meet?" He went straight to the question.

"Confused about what?" Lizzy felt lost.

"Can you please answer the question? I feel insane right now and I need to know." He answered angrily.

"Okay, chill out. What's up with you?" She spoke in a fearful tone. "Okay, um, I met you at the airport. It was too late, around 10 PM." Lizzy started.

"Did I tell you anything? Like where I was from or what I was doing at the airport." He asked to direct her description of yesternight's encounter.

"No, all you said was that I should help you and you don't have anywhere else to go." Davis's face was filled with disappointment. He got worried.

He knew that Lizzy was the only person that may have seen him during this time that he can't remember. "Was I with anyone?" he continued asking.

"I met you close to the airport's exit and you were alone. I almost screamed but you said you can't hurt me and I shouldn't scream. That's all." She said.

"That gives me nothing. How did I wake up 30 days after going out with friends in a country I have never heard of? What god is toying with me." He thought to himself. "Do you know why I told you not to scream? You have to give me something that can help me understand." He asked her with his arms on his head.

"Understand what?" She was not following. Davis wandered deep in thought. "I am sorry I have nothing else to tell you. Can you at least tell me what's going on so that I can see how best to help you?" She tried getting him off his thoughts and back to the conversation they were having.

"You wouldn't understand. Trust me." He was so frustrated that he laid himself in bed with his eyes wide open, thinking about how nothing can help him with his situation at the moment.

"Try me, I might surprise you." Lizzy was not letting it go without a fight. She tried persuading him to talk.

Davis lay there, staring at the blue ceiling thinking about his first day. "Maybe I had just landed from Theo and I came on a trip but fell and hit my head when she found me." He thought to himself in an attempt to structure a story that would explain why he is here and why he is not able to remember.

"Is it okay if I stay here for a while until I figure myself out?" Davis had to lower his tone this time. "Oh no, you can't stay here. I don't know you and just a minute ago you were shouting all over the place. As I leave for work tomorrow, make sure you leave too and don't come back this time." Lizzy was angry.

"Hey, I'm sorry. I promise to be nice from now on. I have nowhere else to go." She walked out on him and headed to the kitchen. Then a very significant question that Davis hadn't asked Lizzy, came to his attention. He immediately rushed to the kitchen and asked "What were you doing at the airport?"
