T&C

Davis was up earlier than Lizzy. He prepared some eggs that were available there and made coffee. All he was waiting for was for her to wake up and tell him what she had decided. After spending several hours in anxiety, he grew out of patience and decided to wake her up.

"I made you some breakfast," Davis told her while smiling in pretense.

She was still tired. Her eyes were covered in dry tears as she tried opening them. Her face drew the line from her mouth towards her ears suggesting that her sleep was heavy till she had to drool.

She opened her eyes to find Davis staring at her like an exciting phenomenon with a fake smile. Her hair was shaggy and needed straightening. It was as if her dream was an action novel. The whole world could see that she had just awoken.

"No one can fall for that." She mocked Davis's poor acting skills.

"I made you breakfast." He added the smile but with more enthusiasm this time.

She was still recollecting her orientation. Her left hand was in her hair, scratching her itchy skull while her right arm was looking for her phone.

"Can we talk about my little situation now?" He robbed her of her moment.

Lizzy yawned heavily before leaving the bed for the bathroom as if Davis had not uttered any meaningful words. She was in no rush because this was not her usual time to wake up. However, she knew exactly what Davis was talking about and she was just stalling. After a while, she was done and ready to take her breakfast while they talked.

"Can I stay?" Davis was quick on this one.

"You can't even wait till I am seated comfortably before speaking to me, who raised you? First I need to understand why is it that you don't have a place to stay and please don't give me the other day's story." She took her time to get seated and looked him straight in his eyes when she was speaking.

Davis was quiet for a while. He didn't know what to tell her because the problem was that he had spoken his truth. He thought to lie but felt like he shouldn't start a relationship based on that. He hesitantly went on.

"I don't have a different story to tell you, Lizzy. That's the truth I know." He wasn't even able to look at her while he said this. His fingers were busy removing dirt from his nails and his eyes were watery. His lips were shaky and his heart felt a plethora of emotions. If he lost this chance he had nowhere else to go however hard that was for her to believe.

"So you decide to hide the truth in this lie you tell me. Okay then. I won't ask again. I just hope you won't turn out to be a serial killer. Speaking of which, I should have asked you to taste this food before I took it but I choose to give you the benefit of the doubt." Lizzy laughed sarcastically.

She agreed to house him but under several terms and conditions. Davis was to look for a job that would help him fend for himself and support Lizzy in the house. The stay was only permitted for a short while. After several discussions, she agreed to host him for a month. She insisted that he agrees to visit a shrink even though he constantly said he was okay and needed no psychiatric help.

The talk was getting too long and Lizzy was almost leaving for work.

"How can I get a job here without papers or a work permit?" Davis got worried all over again. He sat on the bed with his face downwards, sighing continually. He was surprised that she still could not believe that he was not from around there.

The main issue that Lizzy had with his story was the bit where he knew nothing about Tenei and that he had a month of his memories gone yet they met at the airport.

She guessed that Davis was running away from someone but wanted to hide it as much as he could. She was sure that he did not mean her any harm but that never meant that he was a good person. She found him in pretty bad shape for it to be that he was just around the airport with no intentions.

"You are back to this story again. As long as you don't want to tell me the truth, don't tell me this lie. That's the law in this house from now on. Besides, there are several jobs in Tenei that you can work without papers." She was furious. "I don't care how you do it but you have to work if you want to stay here."

This was not a problem for Davis because he was raised to look out for himself not to depend on anyone. The only difficult part was how he was supposed to know the city yet he was asked never to mention that he is not from Tenei.

He finally recalled having a friend who he meets mysteriously and could help him with the search. The other issue was that he had no way to contact her. He thought to do what he had always been doing in the city, walking till he bumps onto the over-enthusiastic teen.

Lizzy left him some money to buy proper clothing so that he could look presentable when he was looking for employment. This amount had a tag on it. It was to be refunded as soon as Davis was able to make money of his own.

She went off to work and so did he leave to go look for Diaz who would help him find a job that would warrant his stay in Lizzy's house.

If walking had an Oscar Award, we probably know by now who'd win it. Davis opted to head to Old Mouche Brothers' Store and walk around that area until he found Diaz. He wasn't sure how or when he would finally see her but he had no choice. He wouldn't even go shopping on his own because he would end up getting lost.

When he arrived at the old man's store he decided to spend some time in there looking at newspapers as he peeped out to see whether he could spot Diaz.

"Look who's back boys." Seemed like, literally, old habits die hard. He was already on with his jokes. "If it isn't the payphone guy. What are you looking for now son? Or have you come to ask about world war action figures." He immediately burst into laughter together with the other constant voices at the back.

Before Davis could answer, Diaz walked in through the front door.

"I was just leaving." He told the old joker as he signaled Diaz to follow him outside. Diaz greeted the old man and they left.

"I need your help with something." He held her hand and pulled her close to speak to her.

"What is it?" Diaz wasn't too comfortable with this conversation in fact she was surprised.

"I need you to take me to any boutique around here and then help me find a job." He went straight to the point.

"Um, that… that's gonna be a tough task to do." Her answer was rather dragged.

"What?" He was back to being confused.

"Finding a boutique." Diaz sounded off on this,

"Why?"

"Well, let's go but you'll see for yourself" They left the old man's store but Davis was a little bit confused about that.
