Chapter 7 Terra's Sacrifice

The pirate captain sensed his doom as the vicious beast eyed him with malice.

Terra soothed her sister as best she could while glaring first at her stepmother and then at the pirate.

" What of his fleet?"

Ulag stepped forward and bowed before answering.

" Lancelot and Cirano are ending them as we speak," Ulag answered smugly, enjoying the pirate's discomfort.

" Two mere men could not..."

" We are no ordinary men, scum," Ulag teased. Ulag grinned down at the mighty pirate captain, his fangs flashing in the torchlight. His impending doom loomed heavily as he admitted what they were. Vampire.

" Mercy! I beg you, sire...."

Kyrian eyed him in amusement.

" Mercy? Who have you ever shown mercy? Darius the terrible, is that not what they call you? How many have begged you for mercy? Did you show mercy, Darius?"

The mighty pirate burst into tears as Kyrian stood over him.

" Terra , you need to rest, my angel, my men will clean up this mess. You have nothing to fear from him."

They didn't see the queen pass the knife to the now seething pirate.

Terra nodded before taking Ariana by the hand, her poor sister had been through hell. Just as she walked by, Darius lunged for a bewildered Terra, holding the knife to her throat. Kyrian was before him in an instant.

" Release her and you will receive mercy, I vow it."

Darius, his mind broken eyed the predator in front of him with glee. He would bring the mighty Vampire King to his knees, all he had to do was kill Terra.

" You vow it? Do ye think I would take the word of a beast, an abomination, " he sneered madly.

Kyrian watched as the blade pricked Terra's skin and blood leaked from his eyes in his fury.

Terra had seen the madness in his visage. She knew she would not see another sunrise.

" I love you, my Vampire King, you must not mourn me for I shall always be with you." Terra butted Darius, pleased when she heard the crunch of bone. Her eyes widened as she felt the blade dance across her throat like a lover's caress.

" No!"

Kyrian caught her as she fell to the ground, her blood soaking her dress.

" I will not lose you. I waited centuries to find you."

To everyone's horror, Kyrian sank his fangs deep inside Terra's neck. No one moved, except Ulag who used his razor sharp claws to decapitate the pirate, Darius.

Kyrian sliced his wrist and held it to her mouth.

" Drink,my love, drink and stay with me."

Terra lapped weakly at Kyrian's blood, it was the sweetest thing she'd ever tasted but she could see her mother calling to her.

" Forgive me, my love, I must go...to..mother." Her eyes closed and Kyrian felt darkness envelop his soul.

His anguished roar echoed throughout the land and made all the women cry.

He sat there, his tears of blood adding to the destruction of her silk dress.

Terra walked with her mother in a beautiful garden, the sunflowers a brilliant yellow that dazzled her eyes. Her mother eyed her knowingly, a sad smile on her lovely face.

" Be happy, my child."

Terra was confused, one minute she was with her mother and the next she was falling, falling through the air until at last she hit the ground with a loud thud.

" We must leave here, my king. The sun rises soon..."

" Go Ulag, I will not..."

" Sire, I know what she was to you but you dishonor her memory if you give in to despair. No other mortal had as much life, she would want you to continue, she would want you to live and I will not abandon you to despair."

Kyrian didn't want to continue, not without Terra.

" Ulag...speaks...the truth, I..."

She couldn't speak he was holding her tight enough to crack a few ribs but she only smiled.

" Terra, my Terra."

" Yes, I came back for you."

Kyrian watched as Terra's pretty hazel eyes turned black as coal and frowned.

" This is a good thing, my lord, now I can fly with you," she teased.

Ulag smiled.as his sire, the ferocious Vampire King began to laugh. Terra looked around the throne room but only Ulag and Kyrian had remained.

" We will go home at dusk, my Terra."

Ariana had heard the laughter and knew Terra was alive.She launched herself at her sister uncaring that Kyrian held her on his lap.

" Sister! You came back! "

Terra grinned as Ariana squeezed her as hard as Kyrian had.

" Sister, you must make Lord Ulag wait for me, he's mine."

Ulag looked everywhere but where they all sat on the ground, avoiding the child at all costs. What would such innocence do with a beast like him?

Her father ran to the throne room, grinning and crying all at once. His Terra was alive and that was all that mattered.

" My Terra, is it really you?"

She gracefully rose to greet her father who held her close.

" I'm here father."

He watched in awe as Terra's eyes turned black as night.

" She plots to kill you, the wine is poisoned."

She wobbled for a moment before Kyrian pulled her into his embrace.

The queen walked in then a goblet of wine in her dainty hands.

" Here my King, you still have 2 other daughters, drink this."

Terra moved at lightning speed, grabbing the goblet and holding the queen and forcing her to drink the wine.

" Argh! You! I should have killed you in your sleep! "

" You should have, "

The king watched as the goblet slipped from her fingers as she fell to the ground.

" Why Arabella?"

" You never loved me like you did her mother, never loved..."

They watched as the light faded from her eyes.

" Mother! "

The king held his daughters , a sigh of relief in his heart.

" Majesty, I Kyrian do seek to pledge my troth to your daughter, Terra."

" Terra, will you accept him, my child?"

" I will, father, I love him."

Ariana cheered as Kyrian slanted his lips over hers in a kiss that promised everything.
