I looked up and saw two heads staring down at me, They both felt warm and calm. I wondered where I was but then everything went black again. I was losing my conciseness and was losing all my memories. I feel my lips part, and hear what is probably the last thing I'll ever say;
"Dang... reincarnation is true, then... guess I was wrong..."
Everything's fading... Who am I again?
I'm crying. I'm upset and I'm crying. Oh, I'm a baby! I guess two-year-olds do cry a lot. But, why am I crying? Looking around, I see a lush green forest. There are plants of all kinds, and dense woods all around. This might be cool if I was a little older. The forest is almost magical, with blooms everywhere and foliage coming high off the ground. It's amazingly colorful.
I've been crying and waiting for what seems like days now. Hardly any living things have come by, let alone a person. Wait... do I hear footsteps?! I'm saved!! I look over at them, analyzing the strangers. One has long, beautiful, vibrant blonde hair that almost shimmers, and verdant emerald eyes that cradled me in her gaze. She has a very caring aura, and is likely in her late 20s. The other is a man, with caramel brown hair, and serious, but kind chestnut eyes. He looks to be a little bit younger than the woman, but not much. Uh-oh. I guess my baby instincts kicked in, 'cause I just started bawling a LOT louder. Oops, I think I spooked them... but I think it worked!! They're coming this way! Although, they do look a little panicked.
"Holy fucking shit. Haru, this baby's mana is insane!"
"Aziel, calm down. And watch your language. He's probably the source of the mana spike that we were sent to investigate."
"Still, though, who would've known that a BABY was producing these mana levels. It's crazy!!"
Woah. I must be pretty damn cute, because Haru scooped me right up and squeezed me like a puppy. Wait... did she just pull out a wand? She's healing me. It feels so warm and cozy, but also cool and refreshing. Man, now I feel like I could run a million miles!! She gestures to Aziel and he nods. I feel myself dozing off in Haru's comforting embrace, as the couple slowly leaves that godforsaken forest.
"Mmph"
I wake up in a bed, which is the most wonderful thing after sitting on dirt for who knows how long. I'm in a real house!! There's a fireplace crackling in the corner, making the room even more homey. A bunch of people walk in. 5 strangers, then Haru and Azeil. I'm still confused on why they were so surprised when they saw me. They talked more about mana and how powerful and pure mine was. Haru and Azeil talked about adoption and keeping me. As they were talking I looked to the side of my bed and saw a mirror. I was a 2 year old baby. I looked at myself and saw how beautiful I was. I knew I could just get away with anything if I ever got in trouble.
I was adopted by Haru and Azeil, and since I had no name they named me Zekiel. Since I was sometimes only left with Haru, I started to understand this world better as I'm only 4 years old. She started teaching me the basics of the world by home schooling me. I also learned how this world work's. Apparently there is a section of the brain that determines how strong your mana is. It goes in this order from weakest to strongest:
Tainted
Defile
Unpure - The average human
Plain
blood
Raw
Pure
Purified
Refined - There are only 9 people this strong on the continent
I also learned to read and write. The most exiting thing though is activating my Nexus. The Nexus is the sector of the brain that controls your mana flow and how much mana you have and can control. Mana is like air and it is everywhere in this world like oxygen, some even call it pure oxygen. I awakened my Nexus at this early age of 4. The normal age for anyone in this world to activate there Nexus is around there teenager years.
My note about this chapter - ty guys for sticking around and reading this, I know these are small as of now but I will work on updating them and making them bigger. If anyone is confused or has any questions later on, please leave a comment and I will answer them.
