Forget About Her

"I know, I know," Jack replied, his voice quiet. "But I can't help the way I feel about her. I love her, Lucas."

"Love?" Lucas shook his head in disbelief. "Jack, that's not love. You deserve so much better than her."

Jack looked at his friend. "I know you're right, but it's just so hard to let go," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. "What I feel for her isn't just an itch that can be relieved with a simple scratch – it runs much deeper than that."

"Just forget about her."

"I spent twelve years attempting to move on by dating other girls, but to no avail. Now that my feelings for her are so much stronger, how can I possibly forget about her?"

Lucas let out an exasperated sigh. "Why don't you give dating another chance? There are countless women out there who would love your attention. Who knows, you might just fall in love with one of them."

He pressed his lips into a thin, tight line. "I don't want just any girl, I want Phoebe."
