Murder In The Woods

I was resting peacefully in the shade when something caught my attention. A flight of birds screeching and circling in the sky. The afternoon until now had proved uneventful and I had even managed to find a decent hiding place. However, I could not lay low for long so I decided to follow the birds. I halted when I saw the scene in front of me.

I wished I had not left my hidey-hole...

My heart sank as I saw a dead body in front of me. So that's what caused all the commotion. I waved my hands, trying to get near the body, tears dropping to the ground as I discovered that it was a boy, no more than 15. How can someone be so cold-hearted? I closed his eyes with my trembling fingers and pulled out the knife from his stomach.

I hugged his body as if trying to seep some of my warmth into his utterly cold body. No matter how much I wanted to remind myself that it was not safe to be here, I couldn't leave him, I didn't want to leave him. What will happen to his family? Where will I find them? How will I inform them of his death?

No not death, murder.

I felt rage for the first time in my life, a rage so powerful that it could consume anything that came in its path. I gritted my teeth while I looked at the dead boy. Don't worry I will take revenge for your murder if it's the last thing I do.

"Oh my god! Alex!" I heard a shrill squeal as I lowered the body to the ground.

Evelin.

"Flair? How could you?!" Alex stared in disbelief while I looked at them bewilderedly.

"Why are you looking at me like that? You know what? You came at the perfect time. Can you help me bury him?"

"Don't act innocent. We caught you killing someone! And look, Alex, it's a kid!"

"What the fu---"

"I didn't expect you to drop this low!" Alex cut me off.

"Alex, I did not kill him! I just came across his dead body a few minutes ago!" I couldn't believe that he was accusing his own sister to be a murderer!

"Don't believe her Alex! look at the knife and all the blood on her shirt!" Evelin latched herself on his arms.

"Flair I saw you with my own eyes, I am so disgusted with you right now. Leave before I do something that we both regret!"

"But I---" I tried to come near him but the next thing he did broke me into a million pieces. It did not only break me. It broke what I thought to be an everlasting, unbreakable, and pure relationship. And gave root to something much more dangerous. Hatred.

My head whipped to the side as he slapped me. I ran my tongue on my lips, wiping the blood off them. Glancing up at him, I chuckled while his eyes were on his hands which left a permanent scar on my soul.

"What a twist, don't you think brother?" I spit at his feet. "Looks like I am now free from my feelings, the feelings that made me suffocate, that made me feel guilty, that made me feel confused. Thank you for freeing me from this suffering. Now I finally know what we are to each other."

I jerked my weapon (made a wooden spear by tying the spearhead and a stick together) at them, "It's your turn to move before I do something that I won't regret at all!"

Alex looked at me with a stricken face. His hand itched forward to hold me but before he could proceed with his action, I pressed the blade on his chest.

"Didn't you hear me, Alex?" His eyes widened with shock as a trickle of blood seeped through his shirt. I scoffed as Evelin pushed me away before she dragged Alex by his arm.

I did not miss the smug look on her face before they disappeared into the forest.

As soon as they left, I collapsed to the ground letting out an earsplitting scream. Streams of tears ran down my face as I clawed through the ground with my bare hands. I was sure that he would feel remorse for what he had done and as for that two-faced manipulative wretch, she'll meet her end sooner or later. I kissed the boy's head and laid him in the grave gently.

"May your soul rest in peace little angel."
