Chapter 57: A Friend in Need is a Friend Indeed

I was looking at him. I was in the same Ambulance as him because I wasn’t much hurt. He was really hurt and the doctors were hesitant in making the right call: they were confused if they should take him to the hospital first or should perform an operation on the way.

The bullets had seemingly pierced deep. I was already in tears. “He’ll be alright, right?” I asked the doctor. He was concentrating on his breathing and looked at the monitor consciously.

“he should be.”

“W-what do you mean should be! He has to be!”

“Please be calm, mam. We are doing the best we can.”

I cried and cupped his face. “I love you, Robert. You have to get well and that too soon. Do you understand me!?”

I saw his lips curl into a slight smile. I smile widely noticing that. Was I hallucinating or did he really smile?

“We need to speed up the vehicle or an operation will be needed to be done here. His bullet is seeping in, which is kinda weird. Ralph, check the monitor continuously!”
