I sat at lunch at my usual table and looked around. Mino had a bandage wrapped around his arm (apparently he had an archery accident). Penny sat across from me still shaken up about Medusa, and Olivia sat down with us. Her trident pendant visible to all of us.
"Hey...I heard what happened in the gym. Did Ares really bring Medusa here?" Mino asked.
"Yeah, the nurses office is really busy and all of the Athena kids look like Penny. They even called Lisa ahead of time for it" I said pointing at Penny.
Penny was pale and shaking a bit. Seeing death was not fun (unless your a kid of Hades), but seeing death walk around with a familiar face is worse.
Olivia was zoned out messing with the water in her water bottle, and Mino looked down at the floor. I sighed and waited till lunch was over, looks like I wasn't getting much conversation out of lunch today.
When it was finally over was I went to my English class. Athena was on a small stool reading through a World War Two book. I sat down as Penny walked in, and took a seat. She was still as quiet as she was pale.
I looked at Athena. She wore a beautiful white dress decorated with gold, and she had silver owl earrings which matched her grey eyes. Her golden hair dropped past her shoulders. Around her classroom was an Athens banner, spears with shields, a sword by her desk, and an owl on a stand at the front of her classroom. It watched the door as the students came in. I took a textbook out of my bag, and flipped through it. Athena kept reading her book. She flipped through pages faster than any mortal speed reader could. Her owl hooted, and flew to her desk when the last student walked in.
Athena stood up and closed the door, then walked to the chalkboard. Her heels clicked all the way to the door and back echoing throughout the class. On the top of the board the words 'Battle of the three hundred' were written. One of the most memorable battles in Greek history. The only battle where king Xerxes broke his famous rule of burying respected soldiers. He turned Leonidas into a martyr for the Spartan army.
Of course while Athena looks down on most of Sparta and it's history, this battle was the only battle that she admired the Spartans for. Was it a smart move with all things considered? No, but it was a brave move. It was truly a day where Ares was proud.
As the lesson went on we discussed a lot of different subjects. How many Spartans it would take for a good defense, what the could've changed in their formation to make them more effective, and the aftermath of that battle. I was called on a lot since Leonidas is one of my best friends. He's captain of the winter guard, and his main job is hanging around my step mother's palace. Not like anyone is gonna come in and kidnap her though (except my dad of course).
As the class went on Athena gave us our homework, and dismissed us. As the day dragged on I just couldn't wait to get home. I just wanted to lay down and sleep through the week.
