CHAPTER LXI:Mornings Touch

I sat in the kitchen drinking any coffee I could find. After last night I couldn't go back to sleep, it didn't take long for the sun to show up. Mino was the first one up, probably because of nightmares from Tartarus. Mino was outside working out in the yard, he probably had a lot of his physical strength sucked out of him from his time in the Titan prison. Keaton walked in through the front door holding his helmet. He looked weary and beat up, even though he was a walking corpse, Keaton looked exhausted.

"All night we had skirmishes in various areas. Scouts, shadows, rogue monsters, and other demigod hungry creatures. I may be dead, but I need sleep." Keaton ranted sitting down.

"Keaton, I need to talk to you about something." I said looking at him, which was hard with his armor glinting in the sunlight.

"What's up little sis?" Keaton asked.

"You know who our first half-sister was, right?" I asked Keaton, turning back to the table.

Keaton nodded. "Kori Vlahos, why?" He asked again.

"I learned something disturbing about her last night. Kori was a servant to Khaos, she's Khaos' mortal form." I said.

"What!?" Keaton yelled looking up.

"Khaos showed me a vision of what happened to her. Kori felt abandoned and powerless because of dad and angry because of what the gods did to her mom. Kori felt alone and angry, and Khaos showed her a direction for it. Kori's death was horrifying but she just laughed at it, she laughed as her insides were burned and were forced out. Khaos took her body and made Kori her servant in life and in death." I explained.

Keaton looked at the table shocked. His head was still wrapping around the idea that a Kid of Hades, or rather any demigod, would go through that willingly.

Keaton looked up at me after a brief moment of silence. "I read in a report that Mors tried to seduce you in The Underworld and make you his wife. Is that why? Was he trying to convince you to be a servant of Chaos?" He asked.

I shuddered a bit. "No, he was trying to get rid of my prophetic ability. And don't say seduce, that makes me feel off and just, no, please don't. Think of what Pluto did to Cora more like. However, Khaos tried to recruit me when I first met her. I was wondering why she looked so familiar to me when I saw her, it's because I was staring at a similar face in the mirror for sixteen years." I explained.

Talking to the Roman Legionnaires was weird. We had the same gods, for the most part, but we called them different names. I say Athena and Keaton says Minerva, I say Hades and Keaton says Pluto, and when I say Zeus, Keaton says Jupiter. Translation on a small scale was one of the first things Adventurers and Legionnaires learned to help break the small barrier between us.

Keaton nodded and stood up. He grabbed his gear and walked out of the house. I was once again left with my thoughts drinking my, now cold, cup of coffee. The sun was out, or at least it should've been. Grey clouds blocked the sun from view, but some light peaked through the clouds giving this pale grey hue to the air. The first light was showing itself, but a storm was still coming.

Penny walked down the stairs and stretched. "When I get home I'm changing my clothes, no matter what anyone says. I got to wash these clothes once during our stay in Elysium, and we've been questing since." She said yawning.

"I know, this jacket is bloodstained my shirt is stained as well and these jeans are killing me. I need a break after this." I said.

"In Elysium?" Penny asked sadly.

"Maybe in New York, we'd be closer to Maine. Plus, I get to invade your home next time." I said, smiling.

"Oh gods…..I live in a penthouse in New York. Aren't you afraid of heights?" Penny asked through a nervous laugh.

"Nice try, that's Seth." I answered.

"I'd have to ask Athena, and you know how she is." Penny stated.

"Please, Athena loves me." I responded.

"Damn…" Penny said.

"You got to see my house, and now I get to see yours." I laughed.

Penny smiled slightly. "Alright, just know that my mother had a very strict schedule, so if you're not awake in the morning that will change very fast." She said.

I nodded looking outside. The second day of The Battle of San Francisco had started. I hope today wouldn't involve me or any other Adventurer for that matter. I stood up and went to the living room. I sat on the couch and an arrow came through the window. I stood up and saw Sorcerer on the roof of the building across from us.

"Stay here!" I yelled to Penny before running outside.

I looked up at Sorcerer who still stood on the rooftop, like he was supposed to be a god to me. He dropped down and glared at me. Sorcerer held three arrows in one hand and his bow in the other. His shoulder looked way better now, and today I wouldn't have Adam for backup to take him out again.

"So you're the white haired brat Mors told me about, I'm glad to learn that he didn't mean me after all." Sorcerer said smiling.

"Is this a joke to you?" I asked Sorcerer.

Sorcerer laughed at the question. "Sort of, I can take on five Strikers blindfolded." He said.

"You couldn't take out a Son of Apollo though." I responded through a small laugh.

Sorcerer's whole demeanor changed at that statement. He shot all three arrows at me, and I dodged them all. The arrows vanished suddenly, and then another three arrows followed behind. Each arrow was golden tipped, and I realized I had fallen for a sun illusion. I managed to dodge two, and I held my hand out. The last arrowhead went clear through my hand, and the wooden portion of the arrow got stuck in my hand halfway in. I winced in pain and took the arrow out.

"I came to talk, not fight. However, I will not stand for insults from you." Sorcerer said.

"You have a weird negotiation tactic." I responded.

"Shut it." Sorcerer said. "My father doesn't want me here any longer, he's removing his forces from the war because of Luke. Technically speaking, we are on the same side. I'm here to tell you that your betrayer is an Adventurer, and that Trivia knows her. On top of that a few of the minor gods aren't bad, but they're scared of Chaos."

I looked at Sorcerer, I couldn't tell if he was lying or not. If he was, I would hunt him down and end his life with that bow; or dissect him with one of his sun arrows like he was a science project. I walked close to him and stared him down.

"If you're lying to me, I will kill you. Do you understand? I will hunt you to the ends of the earth. I will walk barefoot through Asphodel and back until I see your soul burning in Tartarus. Am I clear, Sorcerer?" I asked.

Sorcerer nodded, "I hope to see you again Mary, it has been fun. Maybe next time we can officially be on the same side." He started walking away. "Oh and Mary."

"Yes Sorcerer?" I asked.

"Be careful with the storm. Did you really think we'd hunt a kid of Poseidon without doing research on the weather." Sorcerer stated walking all the way down the street.

I stood their for a brief moment. What sorcerer had said stunned me, and threw me for a loop. The more I thought about it, the more it made sense. I walked back inside, and sighed. My thoughts moved to the fact that Sara's house now had two holes in her window from Sorcerer. I covered the window with curtains and went to the kitchen where Sara, Mino, and Penny were eating breakfast.
