CHAPTER LXIII:Counterattack!

The rain had gone from moderate to severe in a short period of time. The rain paired with the wind hit any exposed skin like BB pellets.

"How you feeling Mary?!" Penny yelled through sheer wind and water smacking against wood and asphalt.

"I miss my hoodie!" I yelled back.

Sara walked over to us and she wasn't bothered by the rain at all. In fact, the rain was curving around her. Same with Olivia, so it was hard to determine if it was water control or Atlantian training.

"That isn't fair!" Mino yelled over the storm.

Sara smiled and Olivia just shrugged. I longed to be a daughter of Poseidon, it seemed fun. You get dark hair and blue eyes, you get to live underwater, and Poseidon is a lot scarier than my dad. The only downsides were if I didn't apply for a legion I'd have to join the Atlantis Guard, I would've been taken from my family if Seth didn't show the same promise if I was a chosen kid of Poseidon, and Poseidon was a lot scarier than my dad. My hair wouldn't be white though, Oracle or not. Then again I can't help but think Khaos had some impact on the gift I had.

"Do you think Apollo watches over us?!" Penny asked taking an anklet off.

"I would hope so! It's his fault I can't use my powers and that every god wants me dead!" I said, then suddenly a ray of light landed next to me burning a whole in the sidewalk, "Okay! Okay! I'm sorry! No need to scorch me Apollo!"

Penny smiled. "That answers my question!" Penny yelled ripping the piece of jewelry apart.

I thought that Penny would get a burst in power from breaking it. I had seen it before where demigods had broken jewelry or had taken off a section of armor and showed their true power. It was extremely common in Kids of Hephaestus, Aphrodite, Ares, Hecate, and Selene. Instead, the anklet turned into a wooden bow with a blue string after being broken. It was a one time enchantment that helped demigods carry more weapons, if you broke the piece of jewelry then it would turn into a weapon.

Penny's bow was smaller than your standard bow, but I assumed she chose speed over accuracy. On top of that, her eyesight probably made it impossible to miss.

"You had a bow this whole time!?" Sara asked.

Penny nodded excitedly, "We already had two archers and my strength is sword fighting, but I can shoot a bow well! I wanted to be an archer for my mom's legion, but it's seen as a joke! Athena said I'd do better as an adventurer, I can't help but think she had a point somedays!" She yelled louder than before.

I never knew Athena had a legion. In Roman mythology, Athena (or Minerva) wasn't a war goddess. The only gods who had a legion had an item, or place, to protect, or they had immeasurable power. The gods who have a known legion were Poseidon, Helios, Selene, Hermès, Ares, Hades, Zeus, and Bellona. At least, Bellona had a legion until recently when Ares' legion took precedence over hers. Of course, Children of Bellona still existed but they joined Ares' legion.

We moved through the streets to the bay and that's where we saw Khaos' plan. In the bay, a group of demigods were rising a large pirate ship, I had recognized it as a ship that was commanded by one of the most famous Sons of Apollo. They were raising the Royal Fortune from the depths of Tartarus where the real ship had gone once it had sunk.

"Sara?!" I yelled, "You got anything to fight a ship and a demigod crew?!"

"Maybe! I just need time in the bay! And to be away from that monstrosity!" Sara yelled back.

I nodded, and it prompted a smile from Sara as she jumped in the bay. I looked over at Mino, Olivia, and Penny who were staring at the ship.

"Ready to take on a pirate ship?!" I asked.

"Can I get a cutlass and a flintlock?!" Mino asked back.

"The Royal Fortune was French, you can only find rapiers!" Penny yelled through the worsening wind.

"Save the history lesson for later!" Olivia yelled opening a path in the bay. "Let's go!"

We all dropped down onto the path and ran towards the ship, under it though stood a skeletal crew of the damned. The all wore dark, tattered clothes, all except one. One of the skeletons wore a crimson coat, and a telling hat with a bright red feather. We continued forward and Olivia raised her hand and shot us onto the deck with a burst of water. The wood was rotted and scorched, the sails were torn and burned, and the cannons were rusted. However, that didn't change the standing fact of the ship was brought up by magic and could probably fire off the cannons using the same magic.

By the ship's wheel, about ten meters or so away, was a boy shrouded in beautiful colors cascading down his bomber jacket. The array of colors started as white near his shoulders, and slowly went from pink to red to purple to blue to green to yellow and so on till it reached black at the end. The boy had smoky grey hair and obsidian black eyes which didn't match his jacket. He would obviously be a major problem. The good thing was that since we had dropped into the path Olivia had made for us the storm had let up around us. The city was still bearing the weight of the storm. But on the ship it was, at worse, a light drizzle. The bad part was a damned crew and water demigods were climbing over the side of the ship. Next to the boy with the many colored jacket, stood a dead captain ready to take control of his old ship.

"What's your name?" I asked out to him.

The boy smiled at the question before answering, "Sean Parker, Son of Thanatos. Welcome to your final death Mary."

I drew my sword and held it close. "You guys can handle everyone else right?" I asked.

"Yeah, hang that bastard from the rigging." Penny said.

Gods Penny was dark sometimes. I ran forward as Sean drew a sword. It was fittingly a French raiper. Our swords clashed and Sean smiled.

"Let's go up." Sean said, as a portal opened below us.

Within the next second I was on one the masts above the sails. I got my balance quickly, and got in a fencing stance. I advanced and our swords met again. I kept my footing even and my stance firm.

"Scared of heights dear?" Sean mocked.

I retreated a bit and held my sword out, putting a few feet of distance between us, "Wrong twin."

I advanced again and our swords met briefly but I partied the sword and switched sides on the mast. We took out stances again. Sean held his sword by his side while I continued to hold mine out. I readied myself again, and I quickly thought that this wouldn't be an easy fight. Fencing was not a fighting stance I was used to, but I knew how to handle my sword. That would be my edge for this fight.
