CHAPTER LXXIV:Khaos, Lady Of Discord.

What Eva said hit me like a truck on the freeway. I felt numb and I was stuck there. I had always know Khaos' goals, but hearing Eva say it made it all to real. It also didn't help with my vision in the mirror or the one in the ice.

"Khaos has always wanted a new body, the more powerful the better. You are extremely powerful, or you should be, but the curse of Zeus has left it's mark. It holds a draining spell above your head that weakens your powers as a demigod. I believe you have all three abilities that Hades can pass down, yet you can't use any of them." Eva said through a small smile.

That part hit harder. All of the gods had three abilities, it's really four as studies later showed, that they could pass on to their demigods. Children of Ares had Weapon Adaptability, Sixth Sense, and Battle Frenzy that all centered around combat. Children of Athena could get a photographic memory, Owl Sight, or Enhanced Survival Instinct which all centered around information and survival. As for my father, his abilities were Raising The Dead, Raising Artifacts, and Resurrection. Raise Dead focused around raising skeletons or heroes, Raise Artifacts was the ability to raise artifacts and their corresponding heroes from Elysium, and Resurrection was the ability to bring yourself back from the dead once a decade.

"So, I have all three abilities that Hades can pass on?" I asked.

"I know you have two." Eva smiled. "Which is one more than Kori has. You might have all three, but your dampened power makes it hard to tell."

"But Khaos could tell that, right?" I asked once more.

"That's correct, which is why I firmly believe you have all three." Eva nodded. "Now let's try to keep the topic on Khaos."

"Of course, continue on." I said.

"Khaos needs a new body, with a new mindset. She can tune out the need for order, but she can't tune out the need for destruction. Kori holds a need for destruction that Khaos has tried to tune out for years with no luck, but if Khaos takes your body then she's hopeful she can tune you out after she shatters your will to go on." Eva explained,

"So, if my faith in Olympus breaks Khaos will mold me into a servant?" I asked.

"Khaos did the same to Kori Vlahos, but she had far less work." Eva answered as she tapped her finger on the table twice.

"What happened to her?" I looked at Eva. "What happened to Kori that made her want to be Khaos' vessel?"

"You know the basics of the story. A Child of Aphrodite slit her mothers throat, and Kori witnessed it. Kori was only nine years old, and Olympus punished Kori when she accidentally killed the offender. When Kori was ten she found a Temple of Khaos. The cult that existed at the time found Kori there, and when they went to hurt Kori, Khaos defended her. Over the years Khaos raised Kori and gifted her powers, and then Kori's eyes turned red which is a telltale sign of being a Priest of Khaos. When Hades saw that, he knew that he had lost Kori. Kori and Khaos have been wrestling for the same mind for years, and the confinement in Tartarus didn't help either of them." Eva explained as a man in a Roman uniform brought her a cup of tea.

I looked at Eva. "So Hades' anger-"

"Damned the world." Eva cut me off.

Hades wasn't prone to anger in recent years. My dad took after his Roman form more than his Greek form. Both forms were relatively the same, but Hades' Roman form was kinder. I wish the same could be said for Persephone, or Cora, since she was a lot scarier in Roman mythology. The original Greek story for Hades and Persephone was later turned into the 'Roman' story, since the Romans apparently loved a fierce woman that sent people to Tartarus every week.

"Is this it Lady Rossi?" I asked.

"Why yes, I'd assume so. Time passes by when you use your powers." Eva said, she looked past me at the wall.

I turned around and woke up to see a clock on the wall in front of me. In bright red print was the time, 7:43, with a black background. I sat up to see I had fallen asleep in my clothes again, it wasn't uncommon in combat situations but I wasn't in San Francisco again. I stood up and walked out of the room, the smell of food hit me immediately. I walked to the staircase and saw Demeter, Apollo, Persephone, Hades, and Athena in the living room each of them in their mortal form.

"I really wish I could stay here Hades, but unfortunately I'm needed by Asclepius." Demeter said walking towards the elevator.

"I'll be along soon mother, It'd be rude to not stay for awhile." Persephone said through an annoyed voice.

"I'd really wish you'd treat Mary better, the only goddess she doesn't like is Aphrodite." Hades sighed. "Why are you so eager to get on that list?"

"Yeah, Mary and Seth are both cool. Besides she's Hades' favorite, between you and her there's no winning for you Persephone." Apollo said.

Persephone looked ready to kill Apollo. Athena slowly stepped between the two starting to play diplomat.

"I'm glad you're back to normal Apollo, but I don't want my mortal home destroyed. Kindly avoid annoying the goddess whose original name was Kore." Athena said calmly.

"Fine fine, I'll stop." Apollo sat down on floor. "You're all no fun."

"Well I'm here, so I'm not sure if that statement applies." I called out.

I hoped over the railing and landed on the floor. I wasn't used to bracing for the landing, but I had seen it done a million times over. The technique for it was favored by archers. However, any demigod could do it with enough training.

"And there's my favorite demigod!" Apollo shouted.

"Should you really be saying that when you have more children than all of us?" Athena asked, glaring at Apollo.

"It's her birthday, let me and her have this moment please. Besides, as far as Daughters of Hades go, Mary is my favorite." Apollo responded standing up.

And now Hades looked like they wanted to take a swing at Apollo. Which made sense since Hades was very protective of his daughters. Well more like all of his children, but daughters especially. I have no doubt that Hades nearly burned Olympus after Zeus tried to murder me.

"Father, who's all showing up?" I asked.

"Seth obviously, Penny, and hopefully Artemis." Hades answered wrapping an arm around Persephone.

That last name took the weight of the heavens off my shoulders. It was nice to know that Artemis hadn't lost her fight. On the other hand, it would be a drag to see Artemis back to normal. I sighed and sat down next to Apollo, hopeful that I wouldn't have to fight for my life today. I would really like it if I didn't have to fight for my life at all, but that was the life of an adventurer. I sat back and waited for Seth to show up, which probably wouldn't take long since Hades was already here. Today would be a good day.
