"Welcome to The Last Greek Stronghold! I'm the current shop keeper, Jennifer Star, and I'm very qualified as I'm a Daughter of Mercury," Snake Bite called from behind the counter.
Penny had practically appeared in the room, tears streaked down her cheeks. She quietly took a seat while I moved up to the counter. Snake Bite smiled and stared at my shoulder, she grabbed a dead mouse and held it up to my shoulder. I went to move away, but the mouse was taken out of Snake Bite's hand and carried by an invisible force to a corner.
"What the-" I followed the rat across the room.
Snake Bite kept her smile, "Your familiar was hungry, she tells me you haven't yet mastered seeing her. I guess that's to be expected from a cursed Oracle, but you're still so powerful. No wonder the mark of Apollo follows you, and why you made your eyes look like his. If gods laid with demigods more often I could see a visit from Apollo in your future."
I felt heat rising to my face, "Can I just-" I cleared my throat, embarrassed at the remark, "Can I just get the potion that Lady Hecate said you were saving for me?"
"I struck a nerve there, didn't I? You know, I have a blessing from The Fates. This blessing allows me to see things unseen, like a persons past and future, I can see why you like Apollo. He is a very kind god, one that a young demigod could fall for, unlike his sister Diana but you probably fell for her as well," Snake Bite said through a sinister smile.
I wanted to jump over the counter and strangle Jennifer, but something tells me she was trying to get that reaction out of me. I steadied myself and took a deep breath. I saw myself in a small mirror and saw that my face had turned red. Damn Fates, I thought to myself looking at Snake Bite.
"Please…..I just want the potion I was promised," I said.
"Fine fine, here you go," Snake Bite smiled, as she handed me a black-ish purple bottle. "I suggest sitting down first though."
I nodded and sat down, I opened the bottle and started to drink the potion. I tasted fresh strawberries with a chaser of something that tasted like lavender and another taste that was oddly metallic. I finished the elixir and the part I dreaded the most hit me like a fucking truck. My whole being burned in an instant, it felt like my whole body was thrown on a stove. I doubled over and fell on the floor, curling up as a raging fire burned through my veins. I blacked out from the pain quickly after with my throat burning next.
I came to in an open library, and heard a loud voice echo through it, "Welcome to my library Mary!"
That voice was extremely familiar, like I had heard it a million times, I called out, "Hello?"
Apollo landed in front of me gracefully, "Welcome to the library of Apollo!-"
"And Artemis! You flashy motherfucker," Artemis said walking in with a book.
Apollo smiled, "Of course dear sister, I was getting there."
"Sure, and I'm the Goddess of Prostitution," Artemis said walking past us both.
"The age of gods is young sister," Apollo chuckled out.
The book Artemis was reading proceeded to fly across the library and smack Apollo in the head. I guess messing with the Goddess of Archery wouldn't be in your best health. If Apollo wasn't immortal, I have feeling he would be long dead. Apollo picked the book and set in on the shelf.
"Say something like that again! I dare you!" Artemis yelled from behind a large bookshelf.
"Alright, alright, I'm sorry Luna," Apollo's eyes widened the second he finished the sentence.
Artemis peaked out and shot an arrow, and I ducked quickly while Apollo hid behind a bookshelf. The streak of silver landed in a marble column. A servant, in a black tuxedo with a sun yellow tie, stopped dead in his tracks. Artemis' moonlight arrow was mere inches away from his face.
"Can you not piss off the goddess with a bow unless you plan to shoot back!" I yelled from the floor.
"Heh, as if I would shoot back at-" Apollo smiled.
"If the next words out of your mouth aren't praise I swear to your false name I will fucking hurt you Apollo!" I yelled cutting him off, scared more silver streaks would fly through the air.
"Fine, you're no fun somedays," Apollo sighed out.
I cautiously got up, ready to drop on the floor in a moments notice, "Now why am I here?"
"Well, you won't be a Oracle for to much longer so I figured I'd show you the Library of La Oracles," Apollo said bowing.
I smiled a bit and watched as Apollo stood up straight, "I'm guessing my prophecy is here?"
"In completion," Apollo answered, "It's upstairs on the table, give it a read."
I walked past Apollo, and saw two animals on the table. Draco was curled up in a ball, her tongue flicked out as she turned to face the other animal on the table. A black raven, with beautiful blue eyes, kept a decent distance from Draco. I smiled and petted my snake while reading the large book left on the table. I looked at the title of the page and read 'The Fourteen Demigods of Olympus', the other name for it was The Eight Pillars of Olympus for the main eight demigods.
I read through the titles given to each role. The first one was The One of Dreams, hopefully me, who would guide the team. The second was The Wolf, I'm guessing that was Leonidas, the Son of Ares, the demigod who went with Sara on her quest. The next few were called The Silver Princess, The Owl, The Defender, And The Lover. Right after The Lover was the title The Sacrificed, the one who must die in Elysium among friends. The Sacrificed was the first in a long list of tragedy. Next on the list was The Ocean's Child, The Forgiven, The Forsaken, The Hero, and The Striker. The last two titles were the ones that I dreaded the most.
The first of the two titles was The Betrayer, the one who weakened Olympus in a single motion. The one who would manipulate The Forgiven and The Forsaken, and the one who would try and kill The Ocean's Child. The Betrayer will cause death, destruction, and heartache wherever they go. The title was very fitting for their according part in the prophecy.
The last of the fourteen titles was The Lost, the first one to die. According to the book The Lost would be killed before realizing what happened to him, and would be bound to never Rest In Peace. They would be slain by The Forsaken before their weapon could even come out of their scabbard. Basically The Lost was a poor bastard who would die clueless, and the more I read the more I realized that The Lost was probably Seth. Or at least I thought that because of the first prophetic dream I had.
I sat back and Draco looked at me. "You can't be sure….the prophecy came without names," Draco said.
"I know….just….my first prophetic dream showed Seth dead, at least I think he's dead in the dream," I said.
"Well if you aren't sure then don't worry, no use in fretting over things that may not happen," Draco said.
"Does your Oracle even know how to contact gods yet?" The Raven mocked, in a young female voice.
"My Oracle can raise the dead, what can yours do? Oh wait! That's right! Your Oracle is just a mortal!" Draco yelled.
"Ladies, calm down," I said cutting into the argument.
Draco coiled up to strike, while The Raven spread her wings. Apollo walked over and picked up The Raven, then whispered something I couldn't make out. On The Raven's ankle was a tag that read 'Muninn', I assume that was The Raven's name. It was a good name, she was named after one of Odin's Ravens. That probably meant that the mortal Oracle either lived in Europe, or knew Nordic mythology well enough to understand the name.
Muninn flew away, and Apollo turned his attention to me. "Let's continue with your tour here," Apollo said before walking along the bookshelves.
