This Man is Extremely Heartless

The seriousness in his tone made Song Qingcheng smile. "Are you worried that I'll jump off the Imperial Court building?"

"I am not afraid of you jumping off a building, but I am afraid that you might be jumping into a furnace!" Shen Che said angrily, "You'll be scorched, playing with fire."

Worried that she'd not drop the idea, he had no choice but to tell her everything he had found out. "Yu Tingchuan's ex-wife was from the famous Mu family in Beijing. I heard that the reason he was able to quickly gain a foothold in Hengyuan was because of support from his ex-wife's family. However, she had an accident and broke both her legs. After the hospital confirmed that she couldn't be treated, Yu Tingchuan immediately filed for divorce."

Such a man was extremely heartless…

Song Qingcheng listened quietly without commenting.

Hearing no response from the other end of the line, Shen Che said anxiously, "Did you hear what I said?"

"Yes," Song Qingcheng answered.

"Since you know this now, stay far away from Yu Tingchuan in the future."

Yu Jing returned to her room and saw Song Qingcheng leaning on the balcony, watching the night scene. She slid open the door and stepped out, too. "Isn't it hot out here?"

Song Qingcheng turned around and smiled at her. "You'll find out after standing here for a while."

After saying that, she looked towards the entrance of the Yu residence.

The car that was originally parked there showed signs of moving. The red light at the back end of the car flickered. Occasional honks could be heard. Under the dim road lights, shadows danced, and faint human voices could be heard.

"We can finally have some peace and quiet," Yu Jing muttered through pursed lips.

Someone knocked on the door.

Gu Jiazhi stood by the door with her bag, all ready to leave. She had come to say goodbye to Yu Jing. "Jingjing, come over for a visit when you're free."

Although she knew it was just polite words, Yu Jing nodded and replied, "Auntie, have a safe journey."

Gu Jiazhi smiled faintly. "Rest early."

At this point, Yu Tingchuan appeared at the door with his car keys in his hand. "Have you got everything?"

"Uh, huh." She nodded.

"Let's go then."

As she looked at the two of them walking away, Yu Jing snorted. "With my Second Uncle sending you home, no wonder you're beaming so brightly."

Song Qingcheng didn't say anything. She tilted her head and looked downstairs…

The black cheetah XKR reversed and quickly drove away.

After the guests left, the entire bungalow felt a little deserted.

The servants began to clean up the house. The crisp clinking of cups and plates could be heard.

Yu Jing lay down on the big bed and refused to move again. She also pulled Song Qingcheng to her side and started to tell her about the tragic history of being caned by her fifth aunt in her great-grandfather's room. In the end, she hugged Song Qingcheng and pretended to cry. "I really should have brought you with me. Imagine, she asked me what I thought about the Southern Sea. I feel like I was being roasted over a pit."

Song Qingcheng pinched Yu Jing's chubby cheeks and asked casually, "Why didn't I see your fifth uncle?"

"Divorced, I suppose," Yu Jing said disapprovingly.

"I thought your fifth aunt was quite nice."

"Yes, she's nice. It's a pity though that she ended up with a jerk who likes to sleep with his secretaries."

Song Qingcheng paused for a moment before asking, "What about your second uncle? Why did he get a divorce?"

This time, Yu Jing didn't reply immediately. After a pause, she answered, "I don't think they were on good terms. I don't know the details. I wasn't at home at the time…"

After a while, her voice trailed off, and then there was a silence.

Song Qingcheng turned around and saw that Yu Jing had quietly fallen asleep.

Song Qingcheng did not sleep well that night. When she opened her eyes, she saw the gentle amber glow of the table lamp. The sky outside the window was a midnight blue, and the scenery beyond the window was vaguely visible. She was not used to sharing the bed with others, and sometimes, it would cause her to lose sleep all night.

She took her phone out from under her pillow and realized that it was only 4 am.

She did not shower before she slept last night; hence, even though the room was air-conditioned, she felt uncomfortable.

Removing Yu Jing's hand from her body, Song Qingcheng got out of bed.

Toiletries and a fresh set of clothes had been left on the desk for her.

Yu Jing's room did not have an ensuite. After picking up these items, she gently opened the door and went to the washroom outside.

As the warm water flowed down from her hair, her stiff muscles relaxed. She closed her eyes and allowed the water to wash over her beautiful eyes, her smooth skin, and her fair long legs…

It was only when she was drying herself, that Song Qingcheng realized she had only one towel.

Conscious not to wake the others, she simply used some paper napkins to dry the streaks of water on her body. Then, she put on the loose nightgown and used a towel to dry her wet hair before leaving the washroom.

At this point, she suddenly felt thirsty.

The girl did not recall seeing any water in the room; hence, she had to go downstairs to get some.

The living room of the huge bungalow was dimly lit.

As she arrived at the bottom of the stairs, she saw Yu Tingchuan asleep on the sofa.

He was still in the same clothes he had worn last night. In the dead of the night, he looked even more intimidating.
