When she met Su Junxin's gaze, Lou Ya's face instantly lost all color.
She frantically looked at the man standing beside her.
"Master Wu, she actually dodged the black dog's blood. What should we do now?"
The man addressed as Master Wu appeared to be about forty years old, a tall and slim figure dressed in a neatly pressed black suit, exuding indeed a trace of an otherworldly Taoist charm.
When he first saw Su Junxin, he also felt a bit apprehensive, but after hearing what was said, he quickly hid his startled expression, stroked his beard thoughtfully, and said with deeper meaning, "No need to panic, I have my own ingenious plans."
As they spoke, Su Junxin had already walked past the pool of black dog's blood in the courtyard and entered the villa.
She came to a stop, tilted her head, and glanced back and forth between the two, with a smile that was not quite a smile, "Mom, who is this gentleman? Is he your new flame?"
Having lived in the basement, the original owner had seen Lou Ya returning home late at night in different men's cars several times, and even overheard rumors from neighbors about her keeping a kept man using her father's inheritance.
Knowing that Lou Ya liked to put on a respectable facade in front of others, she deliberately used this to sting her.
As expected, Lou Ya's cheeks flushed with anger upon hearing this. She ground her teeth in secret and shouted angrily, "Master Wu, you see, she's talking nonsense now. She must be possessed by some demon!"
A Taoist master? A demon?
Connecting this to the basin of black dog's blood that almost splashed on her earlier, Su Junxin immediately realized what was happening.
So Lou Ya thought she was possessed by ghosts or fairies and had specifically called a Taoist priest to exorcise her!
She stood with her arms folded, interested in the unfolding drama, and shifted her gaze to Master Wu, who was quickly descending the stairs, stopping two meters away from her, and squinting his eyes with a cold snort.
"Demon, reveal your true form now!"
Before his words could finish, he pulled out a talisman paper filled with cinnabar script from his breast pocket, pinched between two fingers of his right hand.
A "whoosh" sounded as it rent the air.
The talisman paper, like a streak of yellow light, shot quickly and accurately towards Su Junxin.
For whatever special material the talisman was made of, it stuck firmly to her clothes as soon as it touched them.
Yet she showed not a trace of panic, even appearing to watch the event with a degree of amusement.
Seeing this, Master Wu closed his eyes and formed hand seals, murmuring incantations, then suddenly opened his eyes and couldn't help but laugh triumphantly, "Hmph, this Evil Exorcising Talisman has been nurtured by my true blood for seven times seven, forty-nine days. You mere little demon, today you shall become a soul under my sword!"
However, several seconds passed, and Su Junxin still stood unharmed in her place, leisurely watching him.
Master Wu's face turned a shade paler, as he quickly recited the incantation again, but seeing her with no reaction whatsoever, his eyes widened in disbelief.
He shook his head as he backed away, "How could this be? How could the talisman not work... It's impossible... this can't be..."
Unhurriedly, Su Junxin lifted her hand and tore the talisman off her body, inspecting it in her hand.
Seeing Master Wu staring at her anxiously, she contemplated for a moment, then directly tore the talisman in half before his eyes.
"Stop! My talisman!" Master Wu exclaimed in a low voice, coughing up dark blood from his mouth and collapsing to the ground in agony, clutching his chest.
Su Junxin found this scene somewhat familiar—as such backfire had been portrayed in TV shows.
"Wow, I thought you were just some charlatan, but you actually have some skills."
She chuckled lightly and walked forward, tossing the two pieces of the torn talisman into Master Wu's embrace. Looking down at him, her voice swiftly turned cold.
"Too bad you didn't use your abilities for good. Beware, your misdeeds may come back to haunt you one day. Get out while I'm still in a good mood."
Without waiting for his response, she walked straight upstairs and kicked open Lou Ya's door.
Lou Ya had realized that things had taken a turn for the worse once she saw Master Wu's talisman had failed, and she was planning to escape through the window. However, she hadn't expected Su Junxin to find her so quickly. She let out a startled cry and scrambled under the bed, shaking and praying not to be discovered.
After entering, Su Junxin quickly pinpointed her hiding place and stood at the foot of the bed.
"Are you coming out on your own, or should I drag you out?"
She waited a few seconds, but got no response.
Sighing in resignation, she bent down, placed her hands on either side of the bed frame, and took a deep breath—
With a "bang," the solid wood bed nearly two meters wide was flipped over by her with ease.
Lou Ya screamed uncontrollably, sitting against the wall and repeating, "Don't come near! Devil, stay away!"
Su Junxin shook her arms out and walked over to crouch in front of her.
He reached out a hand and clamped her chin, forcing her to lift her head and look him in the eye.
"Lou Ya, where is your daughter?"
At those words, Lou Ya's breath caught, and her eyes instantly turned bloodshot with madness, as she suddenly raised a dagger hidden in her bosom and stabbed furiously at Su Junxin.
"Don't you touch my daughter!"
Su Junxin didn't even glance at the dagger, her left hand moving at a speed too fast for the eye to see, blocking the attack. At the same time, she gripped Lou Ya's hand and flipped the dagger around.
The sharp tip of the dagger was now pointing directly at Lou Ya's right eye, less than a centimeter away.
"I'll ask you again, where is your daughter?" she repeated emotionlessly.
Lou Ya, not daring to even breathe heavily, looked straight at the tip of the dagger and answered shakily, "She's, she's been sent to the Meng Family... please, I'm begging you, don't hurt her! You can kill me, but please don't harm her!"
Su Junxin couldn't immediately recall what the Meng Family had to do with her, but this didn't stop her from continuing to threaten Lou Ya. Upon hearing her, Su Junxin immediately curled her lips into a big, chilling smile.
The words that came out, however, were bone-chilling.
"I already told you last night, you can't afford the consequences of angering me, yet you stubbornly refuse to turn back until you hit the south wall..."
"I was wrong, I was really wrong," Lou Ya pleaded under the threat of death, on the verge of a breakdown, "Junxin, for the sake of the sisterly bond you and Su Yi shared over the years, please spare her! I'll do anything for you, just let her go!"
Su Junxin released the hand clamped on her chin and took out a check from her pocket, waving it in front of her.
"Being a beast of burden is unnecessary, but regarding this, do you have anything to explain?"
Upon seeing what she held in her hand, Lou Ya's face turned ashen.
Her throat constricted as she spoke with difficulty.
"This is... a forgery."
Su Junxin's temple throbbed, and the chandelier in the room began to flicker along.
"What about the property deed?"
"That's a forgery, too... The real property deed is in my safe, and the code is Yi Yi's birthday."
Su Junxin took a deep breath, trying hard to suppress the anger within her.
"How much money did my father really leave me?"
Seeing Lou Ya's shifty gaze, she narrowed her eyes and pushed the dagger's tip a few millimeters further forward.
"Speak!"
Lou Ya's cold sweat mixed with her tears as she quickly spoke, "There was indeed nearly two point nine million, but I took some last year to settle some trouble for my family, now only one million is left…"
Su Junxin was on the verge of laughing with fury.
"Lou Ya, you really have no shame, taking your stepdaughter's inheritance to help your own family."
She raised her hand to pinch her nose and let out a light "tsk," seizing the dagger.
Her eyelashes flickered open, her slightly reddened eyes brimming with murderous intent.
"I've changed my mind, tell me where the Meng Family is."
Lou Ya, startled by this, hurriedly clutched at her sleeve, "This has nothing to do with Yi Yi, it's all my doing! I'll pay you back, I promise to give you every cent!"
Su Junxin stood up and looked down at her.
After a moment, she shook off her hand.
"Alright, then I'll give you one more month. If even a penny is missing, you can forget about ever seeing your daughter again in your lifetime."
Only when Su Junxin started walking away did Lou Ya collapse to the floor as if a huge weight had been lifted off her.
However, in the very next second, the chandelier from the ceiling crashed down, and the shards of crystal left several fresh, red wounds across her face.
Su Junxin's voice drifted in from outside the door.
"If a third person learns about today's events, I won't hesitate to personally escort you and your daughter to hell."
Lou Ya sat stunned on the ground, feeling a chill spread throughout her body.
