Chapter 48: Bulldozer

"Therefore, I should stay overnight as well," Lu Minzhe declared with a winsome smile.

"Are you daft?!" Miyeon unconsciously blurted out.

Being such a quiet and indifferent person, Miyeon's sudden outburst caught both Shu Li and Lu Minzhe off guard. However, Shu Li quickly got over her astonishment and in a matter of seconds had become overcome with fits of laughter. For a split second, Lu Minzhe looked like a deer caught in the headlights before an expression of feigned displeasure crossed his face.

Miyeon didn't have much time to digest the situation before quickly realizing her mistake. So with a look of chagrin she apologized, "Pardon me. I didn't mean to call you daft."

"I should hope not. This is the first time I've been called insane to my face," Lu Minzhe answered affronted.

"Ah..Yes, that's likely the case. I was just surprised," Miyeon calmly explained.

"Hmm. Then I guess I'll have to show my generous heart once again and forgive you. You can make amends by letting me stay the night," Lu Minzhe said with a short nod.

"...." Speechless at the turn of events, Miyeon turned to Shu Li for assistance but the little traitor simply looked back with a cheshire grin.

"Well now that's squared away. Should we start clearing up now?" Lu Minzhe asked.

"Hold...Hold on a moment, I only have one room," Miyeon said, attempting to dissuade the man.

"Oh, You and I can share a bed and Minzhe-ge can sleep in the living room," Shu Li interjected with a bright eyed look.

Seeing that expression on Shu Li's face was quite disturbing for Miyeon. 'This little minx is up to something again. Whenever she has that look on her face, things usually don't bode well for me,' she thought.

"It doesn't seem appropriate to let CEO Lu sleep on my couch," Miyeon protested.

"That's fine by me," Lu Minzhe countered.

"But I don't have anything for you to change to," Miyeon insisted.

"Hmm don't you have a bunch of men's shirts you use as sleepwear?" Shu Li brought up innocently, earning a glare from her beautiful friend.

"....But...toiletries…" Miyeon said as a last-ditch effort.

"Are in the drawer above the sink," Shu Li continued with a sweet smile.

"It's settled then." Lu Minzhe said flashing both Shu Li and Miyeon a charming smile.

And so, the three proceeded to clear up their meal in the living room and Miyeon promptly ushered Lu Minzhe to the restroom to freshen up while she and Shu Li did the dishes. Once she was certain that Lu Minzhe was out of earshot, she turned to her friend with narrowed eyes.

"Wei Shu Li! What do you think you are doing right now?" Miyeon hissed at her friend.

"Hehehe. It's fine, it's just for one night," Shu Li answered flippantly, humming as she lathered up the dishes.

"One night!? You speak as if you don't know CEO Lu! He's the type that...if you give him an inch he takes a mile!" Miyeon seethed

"Ohhhh. You seem to know Minzhe-ge quite well," Shu Li said with a knowing grin.

"He's a bulldozer! That's what he is. He simply invites himself to anything! Shameless!" Miyeon all but fumed.

On the other hand, Shu Li was delighted to see this side of Miyeon. There wasn't much that could faze her best friend. In fact, even when Miyeon's adoptive parents had basically disowned her after high school she simply appeared sad and a bit melancholic. There were no drastic changes in her demeanor or obvious fluctuations in her emotions. It was as if Miyeon had just given up and accepted her fate. 'What type of parents would abandon someone after adopting them?! Those people.. They don't deserve to be happy,' Shu Li thought angrily.

'It's good to see Miyeon so animated. Perhaps Minzhe-ge might be good for Miyeon. If it was him, maybe he can protect her from high society gossip and politics. It's going to be a feat to get Miyeon accepted by the Lu Family but if it's simply dating..then it should be fine. Plus, I have to admit, it's gratifying to see the almighty Lu Minzhe act goofy for a girl.' Shu Li mused with a grin.

"Stella Wei! You wipe that silly smile on your face!" Miyeon said through gritted teeth as she caught Shu Li with a silly smile on her face.

Of course this only made Shu Li giggle uncontrollably. "Heheheh~"

"Fix your face now or I'm calling you a designated driver!" Miyeon warned.

"Aiyah! Alright alright!" Shu Li cried laughingly.

"And you're doing the dishes by yourself! Hmph!" Miyeon sniped back at Shu Li before plopping down on the couch to watch the premier episode of the 3rd Season of her show 'Penthouse.'

"Irene Lee! You are so mean to me!" Shu Li whined. " Is this how you repay our 8 years of friendship?! Shouldn't it be through thick and thin!?"

"Yeah, yeah. Hurry up or I'm going to bed without you" Miyeon disinterestedly responded with her eyes fixed on the screen.

This was how Lu Minzhe found the two as he exited the bathroom. His 'little sister' heiress of the Wei Family was washing dishes in the sink while Miyeon was sitting cross legged on the sofa engrossed in her drama. Sure enough, he made the right decision to invite himself over to stay the night. Lu Minzhe walked over to the couch freshly showered wearing a new white shirt and loose linen pajama pants. He was actually thankful Miyeon preferred wearing comfortable clothing since he wasn't too keen on wearing his button down shirt and jeans to sleep. In fact, he's already texted Secretary Jin to bring him a change of clothing and some hot breakfast for tomorrow morning.

He casually sat beside her and commented, "Hey, isn't this the same show we watched when I had dinner at your place?"
