Lucius was in a dark space.
He was alone. But he could hear whispers.
He couldn't tell what they are saying but he knew that he didn't like it. He wanted to stop hearing their whispers, so he put his hands over his ears hoping to block the sound. But it didn't work. He could still hear the whispers through his hands.
He wanted to escape the sound so badly so...
He ran.
And ran.
Hoping to escape this darkness. The whispers. Just everything. But there was nothing here. Nothing to hide under. Nobody to talk to. There was nothing here. Only the colour black was present here. He really was alone.
Suddenly he felt something under him. It was something water-like.
At first, it only came to his heels. But the water came higher and higher. When it was as high as his knees, he snapped out of it. He wanted to escape this. But the water was like mud. It was hard to escape. It felt like water, but it had a hold on you.
It was scary.
The water came higher and higher. Until his whole body was under the sea of water.
It was dark.
He wanted to swim out of it. But it was hard to move in this sea of water.
He was drowning in this black-like water.
And...
It was hard to breathe.
[Maybe I should just die.]
He couldn't do anything anymore. He didn't know what to do anymore. He just didn't care anymore.
But still... he was a bit sad.
[I'm sorry Lin that I couldn't live up to your expectations.]
He was sad that he couldn't fulfill his only friend's expectations. And that she did something useless for him.
[It was stupid of me to think I could change myself.]
He began hating himself more than he already does.
"Lucius!"
He suddenly heard someone screaming his name. It was quiet that he almost couldn't hear it. He believed it was an illusion. His imagination.
"Lucius!"
He heard it again but this time it was louder. It began to become louder and louder.
"Snap out of it, Lucius!"
He didn't know if it was his imagination or reality. Because it was a long time when he heard someone screaming his name so desperately.
If someone said his name it was with adoration or with obsession. But the voice was filled with worry. It was the first time someone said his name with that feeling.
[No, wait... It was just too long that I couldn't remember it anymore.]
He felt warm. He wanted to respond to him. But he couldn't. His mouth wouldn't open. His words didn't want to come out.
He looked around for the source of the voice.
"Lucius!"
This time he knew where the voice was coming from. He looked at that place but saw nothing. He wanted to go closer to look better but it was hard. His body felt heavy.
[Who are you] he thought.
[Why are you shouting so desperately for me?]
He wanted to know why so he began moving. No matter how hard it was, he desperately tried to go the sound. He suddenly saw something in front of him. It was small. But it gave warmth. It shone in the darkness. It was small but didn't stop shining. It was beautiful.
It was the only light in this endless darkness.
He grasped the light. He won't let his only light go away. He didn't want to be alone anymore.
When he touched the light, he was suddenly in a classroom. His sight was a bit hazy but when his sight came back, he saw a boy in front of him. He looked worried.
[Ah gold.]
Lucius saw his light. The eyes of the boy were golden. He remembered that it was at first gray. but now it was shining like the light in the darkness. It was a beautiful golden colour. He liked it.
"Are you okay?"
"I'm... I'm fine now. Thank you."
Lucius was not lying. He really felt better. Even if it's only a little bit. He felt better than he was before.
"Thank you."
He really meant it. He was really thankful.
"Really...Thank you."
Lucius gave him a small smile. It was not one of his fake smiles, but it was a real one from his heart. Even if his smile wasn't big but small. It was still there for everyone to see.
And it was beautiful.
