CHAPTER 6

J A K E

Turns out, I hate running. With a passion. And damn is that girl a fast runner. At one point I wasn't sure if I would even find her, but the brunette wasn't hard to miss under the street lights. When I finally caught up to her, we walked in silence for a couple of blocks before I spoke up.

"Cassidy, I'm sorry". Silence was all that I was met with.

"Come on Cassidy. I said i was sorry. You cant just ignore me" I urge her.

"If you drop a plate on the floor and it breaks, does saying sorry fix the plate? No it doesn't" she whispered.

"I'm sorry Cassidy" I murmured, taking her hand in mine. I don't know why I felt the sudden urge to hold her and make her feel better. It was probably nothing.

"We should head home" Cassidy said looking at me, before turning around and heading back in the direction of the house.

"I have to admit, the film wasn't that bad" I broke the silence after a few minutes. Out of the corner of my eye I saw a small smile play on her lips. Cassidy didn't want me to see that I made her smile, but I did.

"Look Cassidy, I know that I can be a dick" I started.

"Carry on" she Whispered. A small chuckle escaped as I turned to look at Cassidy properly.

"I shouldn't of said the things that I did. I wasn't thinking. I am sorry Cassidy".

"I forgive you Jake. I suppose I could have chosen a different film and not said anything about Tiffany" Cassidy muttered.

"Is someone jealous?" I smirked at Cass.

"In your dreams Davis" she smirked. Cassidy sped off ahead and into the house.

"Oh you defiantly are Williams" I muttered to myself before catching up to her. I caught her before she walked into her bedroom.

"Goodnight Williams"

"Goodnight Davis" she smiled and then walked into the bedroom, closing the door behind her. I stood there for a few seconds smiling before walking into my own room.

"What happened? Cassidy came in all smiles and happy" Josh exclaimed as he threw my door open.

"Shut the hell up would you, her room is right next door" I growled.

"Jeez, I just wanted to know what you said to her" he laughed.

"I just apologised that's all" I muttered looking down at my phone. Tiffany had messaged me. I don't have the energy for this.

"Bro you okay? Your face dropped as soon as you looked at your phone" Josh asked.

"Tiffany has been messaging me nonstop all night. I just don't have the energy to deal with her right now" I replied.

"Are you sure that's the reason and not because your mind is on someone else?" my younger brother laughed.

"Get out of my room Josh" I muttered.

"Fine. But don't forget about bro's night tomorrow" Josh said and then walked out of the room.

I got up from my bed and walked across the landing to the bathroom. After having a quick shower I walked back to my room. I stopped by Cassidy's door, hesitating whether I should knock or keep walking. The familiar sound of 5 seconds of summer playing from her room made me smile. She was happy tonight, and that's all I wanted.

-------------------

"Jake, wake up. I need a ride to school" I heard a soft voice say as I was shaken awake.

"Five more minutes" I groaned and rolled back over.

"Jake please, I really need a ride to school" the soft voice came again. My eyes popped open and I rolled over to come face to face with Cassidy.

"What do you want Williams? If you wanted to see me in bed, all you needed to do was ask" I smirked.

"Jake please just get up. I need to be at school in 20 minutes to study for a test with Holly, and we go to school on opposite sides of town" Cassidy explained but I couldn't focus on what she was saying. All I could focus on was her outfit.

Cassidy was wearing a pair of teal gym leggings and an oversized camo sweatshirt with her hair in a messy bun and her face makeup free. She looked beautiful.

"Why cant Holly pick you up?" I grunted.

"Because Holly already lives on the other side of town. Please Jake" She frowned.

"Fine, I'll be there in 5 minutes" I mumbled.

"Thank you Jake" she smiled and walked out of my bedroom. I got out of bed and threw some clothes on before grabbing my phone and car keys from my bedside table. I walked down stairs to find Cassidy and Josh waiting by the front door talking away about god knows what.

"Davis, what happened to your car? Why do you need a ride from me?" I asked.

"Dad is taking my car to the garage today. It needs some work doing and I won't have it for a few days" she mumbled.

"Let's just get going shall we" I said and walked out of the front door towards the car. This could be a long day.

5hours later i sat in the cafeteria at lunch with tiffany on my lap, but I wasn't paying attention to what she was saying.

"Jake you good man?" Elliot asked.

"Oh yeah, I'm good thanks" I replied. "Oh and I can't drop you home today Tiffany" I added before pulling my phone out of my pocket to text Cassidy.

"What, why?" she screeched.

"I'm picking Cassidy up from her school" was all I said.

"What happened to her car" Elouise joined the conversation.

"John took her car to the garage this morning, she won't get it back until Monday" I answered.

"But you always take me home" Tiffany whined.

"Yeah well, things are changing this week ok" I snapped at her.

"Fine" she huffed as she stood up and walked away from the table.

"Why do you keep her around bro?" Elliot asked once she had disappeared out of the cafeteria.

"I don't even know anymore" I muttered. "Hey, I need to make a call, ill meet you in class" I rushed out before leaving the cafeteria. I unlocked my phone and clicked on the contact that I never thought I would be clicking.

"Hey Mr. Arrogant, what's up?" Cassidy's voice rang through the speakers causing a small smile to break out on my face.

"What time do you need picking up Williams?" I cut to the chase.

"Well my last class finishes at 3pm, so anytime around then" her voice radiated happiness.

"I'll be there at 3" I said before ending the call and marching towards my locker before the bell rang for next period.

------------------------

I skipped last period to drive to Cassidy's school early. I know what you're thinking. You're wrong. I only left because I hate chemistry. I sat in the schools parking lot for 20 minutes before a certain brunette pulled me out of my day dreams. Cassidy was walking out of the front doors with Holly and a group of boys. My jaw immediately tightened and my hands balled into fists. There was just something about seeing her with boys after what happened that just makes me angry. After a few minutes, she spotted my car, saying goodbye to her friends and making her way over.

"Hey Davis" she smiled as she climbed into my car.

"Williams" I smirked turning the key in the ignition, before reversing and pulling out of the parking lot.

"How was your day?" she asked with a smile on her face.

"Boring as always. How was yours?" I asked with genuine interest.

"Well, Holly walked into chem with her hair a mess and makeup smudged. She was definitely getting it on with Oliver in her free period. And then the woman has the nerve to try and lie about where she was. Oh and then Blake asked me to be his history partner to which I said yes, I mean who wouldn't, he is gorgeous" she rambled on without taking a breath in between. Seems like someone has had an exciting day.

"Oh by the way, Blake is coming round after school tomorrow" she added.

"No he is not. Not without me meeting him first" I growled, causing her to turn and look at me, a scowl present on her face. "Cassidy, I'm not taking any chances after last time" I told her softly.

"Fine" she muttered and turned to look out of the window.

"I don't want to be the bad guy Cassidy, I'm just looking out for your safety" I whispered out, but got no response. Great, now I'm the bad guy.

-------------

"Who's ready for bro's night?" Josh sang as he barged my bedroom door open.

"Why was I blessed with such an annoying little brother" I asked out loud, looking up at the ceiling for dramatic effect.

"Rude" Josh grumbled and threw himself down on my bed. "So, I was thinking, why don't we invite Cassidy to come with us tonight?" the less attractive version of myself said.

"Well go ask her then" I retorted like it was the most obvious thing. His face lit up before he ran out of my room and to the door next to mine. I followed quite quickly after. Josh knocked on her door three times, before a soft voice told us to come in.

With her bedroom door open, I could see her laid on her bed, her eyes focused so strongly on something on her phone. The room was in silence until Josh broke it.

"Cassie, we were wondering if you wanted to come bowling with us tonight" the smile on Josh's face never faltering.

"Yeah, sounds great" Cassidy muttered, clearing not paying any attention to what Josh had just said.

"Did you even listen to what Josh just said?" I asked amused. I walked towards where she lay on the bed, snatching the phone out of her hands and gaining her attention.

"Hey, what did you do that for" Cass pouts angrily. Damn is she cute when she pulls that face.

"We asked if you wanted to join us for bowling tonight" I explained.

"Sure". Her simple reply brought a smile to Josh's face. I rolled my eyes at his anticks, telling Cassidy to be ready to be ready in 30 minutes, before leaving to get ready myself.

An hour later we had finished our first game, and Cassidy had lost by a landslide.

"I'm not good at bowling okay. Stop laughing at me" the brunette pouted at me.

"Grab a ball" I told her. The confused look that adorned her face was so fucking adorable. Fuck, what is wrong with me.

"I'm going to show you the proper technique" I elaborated. She quickly grabbed the bowling ball that she had been using and walked over to me. I stood behind her, my hand guiding her arm through in the right motion. From this position I could smell her strawberry scented shampoo and god, did she small good.

Cassidy turned her head towards me, her eyes locking with mine. I could feel myself gravitating towards her, my eyes dropping to her soft lips. Our faces were inches apart.

"Um, guys!" Josh shouted, pulling us away from our trance. And thank god. I couldn't kiss Cassidy. I just couldn't.
