My writing project finally looks like a novel, according to those around me. The ladies of the boarding school finally take me seriously, and even Mr. Ackermann. I can finally have full confidence in my abilities.

During this time, Fanny left the boarding school, and Dame Catherine retired after 40 years of loyal service. The first news made me very happy. I could finally breathe a sigh of relief, no longer being put down by her. As for Dame-Catherine, her departure did not really affect me. I didn't have a great relationship with her during my stay, except for the end of her year, when she helped me a little with my writing.

I am grateful for her though, for my school education, and her impartiality on my decisions. Now I could only turn to Dame Mathilde and Dame Louise for help.
