Epilogue
The meeting was over, and Donnelly escorted his guests to the elevator and politely said goodbye to them, then returned to his office to put his stuff in order.
Lakshmi momentarily excused herself to go to the ladies room and Suzuki and Jack stood outside the elevator doors waiting for her.
"How's your daughter?" Jack had been waiting for some opportunity when he was alone with the Japanese to ask him the question, which was actually gnawing at him inside. He did it casually, like a question out of sheer kindness.
“Quite well, considering her state.” Replied Taro.
“State? What do you mean”
“Matsuko has a pregnancy that enters the third month.”
Hearing the unexpected response, Berglund's face was tinged with an intense blush, which he could hardly overcome, but which did not go unnoticed by the girl's father.
