Chapter 3

CHAPTER 3

Devyn pov

It has been a few days since I have heard from Oliver and ginny. I have decided to give them space because it was genuinely my fault. they deserve to be mad at me. it didn't only concern me, yet i hid it from the people who i loved the most. this information could destroy our families, us, and even the entire country's name.

Damon has kept his distance from me, which for him meant he was more than angry with me. I needed to find something to distract me, something to get my mind off the hell-like place I was in.

The thoughts going through my head clouded my mind. it seemed as if i was dazed. I tried to focus on my lessons, I tried to act normal. I was spiraling.

'What if my parents are the bad guys

'What if they killed and kidnapped innocent people'

'Did I lose everyone in my life

'Was I the problem'

'Do I ruin people by being there'

'What if-

My thoughts were cut off by something heavy on my shoulders. I quickly looked up to see Damon looking at me with concern. The classroom is now empty. I didn't even notice the class being dismissed because I was caught up in my stream of thoughts.

Damon pov (little flashback in the beginning)

I haven't spoken to dev, in what seems forever, even though it was like three days. I was not mad at her or anything, I just felt like I needed some time to think about everything. I knew that if I were around the three of them, I wouldn't think about the whole situation. Instead, I would just make jokes with Ginny to hide my fear, or sadness, or any emotion that I am feeling in that case.

I made my way to history. I was hoping I could speak to dev right after class I had sorted out my thoughts and i wanted to see if anyone can up with any ideas, because so far i had none.

No one called or texted me so I figured that they were doing the same thing i had been doing.

As I entered the class I noticed Dev staring into space. Her hair was a mess, it looked like it had not been detangled in days. She had a visible eye bag and dark circles (like Shinso and Aizawa) She wore a stained white sweatshirt, with black cargo pants, mismatched socks, and dirty white air forces. The outfit wasn't bad, bad but it wasn't good either. Basic probably.

I took my seat, as I noticed the teacher was about to enter the class.

I couldn't help but stare at her as she was not acting like herself. I mean she didn't even notice my presence. I mean MY PRESENCE!

As the class was dismissed, and students made their way to lunch, I made my way over to Dev, who didn't even notice the class was now empty. I put my head on her shoulder which seemed to knock her out of her trance, as I noticed her eyes reaching my gaze.

"What are you doing, Dev? Are you okay? You are acting weird. Not that I care but you are ruining the vibe that built up over the years". I said, concerned but trying to make a joke out of it in hopes it would cheer his friend up.

"Nothing," Dev said almost replying immediately.

"So you're gonna sit here and tell me that garbage as if I haven't known you all my life". I said looking at Dev awaiting a new response.

"I said nothing," Dev said, raising her voice a bit.

"Please Devyn Dexter, you hate school, I mean you can't stand it. The only motivation you have to stay in this place is the money you're gonna make with education here". I said looking down on her, frustrated that she wasn't giving him a truthful answer.

"Not the government name". Dev said looking at him, as the built-up tension finally washed away.

"Yes, the government name. Come on, not even Oliver's gullible self would believe that" I said, a smile now brewing on my face.

"Wait, what time is it?" Dev said as she realized that she hadn't been taking notes and that she had been staring in space for who knows how long.

(a/n: Did I say that last chapter. Oops sorry)

" You made me stay spending most of my lunch, trying to help you. Now give me 50 bucks". I said wanting something in return for my charity work.

"What-" Dev said, trying to defend herself, although she knew that Damon was dead serious.

"No! I said give me 50 bucks. I don't do work for free! I clapped back at her, now stretching my hands out. Graciously waiting for my money.

"But I only have $60, right now," Devyn said, pouting her lips, making puppy dog eyes at me.

"Sounds like your problem," I said as Dev put the money in my hands.

"Mean…" Dev said slightly whispering as we walked out of class.

"Thanks. I've been practicing". I said with a straight face holding back my laughter.
