"Wow… this place is huge. I didn't expect her to be living here," Kanda muttered as he looked up at the towering building before him.
The structure stood over 150 meters tall, surrounded by other high-rises, bustling with people coming and going. It looked more like a business complex than someone's home.
Kanda had come here after following the directions stored on the device that had mysteriously arrived at his house. Before leaving, he had reminded everyone to stay put and wait for his return.
"Excuse me, are you Mr. Ichijou Kanda?" a male security guard asked as Kanda approached the entrance.
"Yeah, that's me," he replied.
"Madam J instructed us to escort you to her office as soon as you arrived."
"Got it. Lead the way," Kanda said, nodding.
The guard guided him into the building and they took the elevator up. It finally stopped at the 50th floor.
"This way, Mr. Ichijou," the guard said as the doors opened.
They walked down a quiet corridor and stopped in front of a large door. The guard knocked twice.
"Ma'am, Mr. Ichijou is here," he announced.
"Let him in. You're dismissed," a woman's voice replied from inside.
"Yes, Ma'am." The guard turned to Kanda. "Please, go ahead. I'll take my leave."
"Thanks," Kanda said, giving him a polite nod before stepping into the room.
Inside, Kanda found a spacious office. At a massive desk sat a woman busily scribbling notes on a stack of papers. Next to her, a robotic dog sat perched on a chair, its mechanical body wired into a terminal.
Since she looked preoccupied, Kanda quietly took a seat on a couch near the coffee table.
Five minutes later.
The woman finally put down her pen. Standing up, she walked over and sat across from Kanda on the opposite couch. She wore a dark green military jacket over a crisp white uniform, a black side-slit miniskirt revealing her smooth thighs, tall black boots, and a choker around her neck.
"Welcome, Ichijou Kanda—or should I say, Mr. Ambassador of the Catia Federation?" she said with a mocking smile. "Name's Jens. Pleasure."
"Just call me Ichijou or Kanda. I don't care much for titles—unless they come with compensation," he replied, casually shrugging.
A smirk tugged at her lips. "Yeah, I heard you made those ministers choke with your outrageous demands."
"What can I say? I needed the money. If they thought that was bad, wait till they hear my other ideas for compensation."
Jens burst into laughter. "I like the way you think. I've pulled the same trick—fed those fools tech that wasn't too advanced when I needed favors."
Her expression turned serious. "Anyway, I called you here because I have a proposal. But you'll need to agree to a request first."
Kanda leaned forward slightly, a more serious look on his face. "Alright, Jens. Let's hear it. What's the request, and what's the offer?"
Jens straightened up, her posture emphasizing her curves. "Simple. I want you and your human friends to stay away from those Catian girls for three days. In return… I'll give you anything—even my body, if that's what it takes. I know you've got a thing for voluptuous women like me."
Kanda raised a brow, glancing—briefly—at her chest. "Tempting, sure. But I'm not the type to abandon people I've accepted as allies… not even for that."
"Hmph. Don't be a hypocrite, Ichijou. Your eyes are glued to my chest," she said, folding her arms with a knowing look.
Kanda scratched his cheek awkwardly and chuckled. "Can't help it. Still in my prime, y'know? Puberty's a hell of a thing."
"Tch. Horny brat. Males are all the same. First thing they look at isn't my face—it's these," she muttered, gesturing at her chest with a sigh.
Trying to deflect, Kanda quickly asked, "So, is that all you wanted to talk about? If it is, I'll be heading out."
"Whoa, relax. We're not done yet," Jens said, raising a hand. "Don't you have any questions for me before you leave?"
Kanda paused, then settled back down. "Actually, yeah. What's the deal with your hatred for the Catians? I've heard some things recently—about what really happened between Dogisia and Catia, about the fall of your Federation…"
"Hmph… So, you do know," Jens said, narrowing her eyes. "Lawry told you, didn't she? I heard she was on this planet."
Kanda didn't answer, but his silence was all the confirmation she needed.
"Hmph, you're right. I want revenge—for what happened back then." Jens said coldly. "You know… before they died, my parents made one last request: to free our planet from the misunderstandings that have lingered for thousands of years. They said their generation had tried reaching out to the Catians and the Galactic Federation of Intelligent Life, but no one would listen. Do you know why, Ichijou?"
Kanda shook his head. "No, I don't."
Jens clenched her fists, her voice rising with emotion. "Because the current generation of Catians doesn't even know about their ancestors' mistakes. When my parents spoke up, they were dismissed. 'Baseless accusations,' they said. Evidence? Evidence, my ass! Where was their evidence when they accused us of declaring war millennia ago? They claimed we had strayed from the right path, and the Galactic Federation backed them without a shred of investigation."
She took a shaky breath, her hands pale from how tightly she was gripping them. "It's lucky our technology didn't fall into those despicable cat-aliens' hands. Our ancestors—especially our first leader—fought to protect our legacy."
Kanda listened silently, then finally asked, "Is there any way you could forgive them, Jens? The current generation has no idea what happened. Those records are sealed, only accessible to the higher-ups. It's not fair to blame them for something they never knew."
Jens' eyes narrowed. "And that's why I'll make sure their leaders remember. Hatred this deep doesn't just vanish. Especially when the cause was their own arrogance."
"What are you planning, Jens? Please don't do anything reckless."
A sinister smirk crossed her face. "Do you think you can stop me, Ichijou? That's naive. While you're here chatting with me, my subordinates are already in motion. You're just here to keep you out of the way."
Kanda stood up abruptly, rage flashing in his eyes. "What the hell did you do to them?!"
"Why don't you wait a second?" Jens said calmly, leaning back in her seat. "You're about to get a message."
As if on cue, Kanda's communication device buzzed.
"Go ahead," Jens said, smirking. "Pick it up."
He answered. "Hello? This is Ichijou. What happened?"
As the call went on, Kanda's face twisted into fury. When it ended, he nearly crushed the device in his hand. His glare bore into Jens.
"You bitch! How dare you attack them!"
Jens threw her head back and laughed. "That's the face I've been waiting to see! My revenge has just begun. You'll see what I have in store for them next. This... this was only the beginning!"
"I'll stop you right here, Jens!" Kanda growled, drawing his knife—which immediately transformed into a sleek, glowing blade.
"Come on then, Ichijou," Jens said, standing and spreading her arms. "Show me the strength that made you their hero."
Kanda lunged at her, aiming directly for her head—but his blade slammed into a glowing energy barrier. Jens smirked.
"Is that all you've got? Disappointing."
Kanda scowled. "You want to see more? Then fine."
He called out in his mind: "Akari-chan, I need your help!"
"Let's go, Onii-chan! We have to beat this bad Onee-san—I hate her!"
"Alright, Akari-chan."
Flames erupted around Kanda as his body transformed into his flame-patterned military uniform. Power surged through him.
Jens raised an eyebrow. "Wow… You look incredible, Ichijou. But let's see if that flashy form actually does anything."
"You'll find out soon enough."
In an instant, Kanda vanished—and reappeared behind her, striking her barrier again. Sparks flew as his blade slowly cut through the energy field, forcing Jens to leap back.
"Amazing... You actually managed to crack it," she admitted, drawing a black-bladed katana from a rack behind her.
The two clashed, their blades dancing with fierce precision. Sparks flew, and the room echoed with the sound of steel against steel. Their strikes became faster, more vicious. Cuts appeared on their uniforms. Their bodies bore the marks of battle.
Suddenly, Jens reached into her jacket and pulled out several grenades.
"Take this!" she shouted, tossing them forward.
Smoke filled the room as a series of explosions forced Kanda back. Visibility dropped, and Jens's voice echoed through the haze.
"We'll meet again, Ichijou. Thanks for the warm-up!"
As the smoke cleared, she was gone. Kanda stood in his normal form once more, breathing heavily.
Outside, chaos was unfolding. Police and firefighters had surrounded the building. Sirens wailed in the distance.
Kanda didn't waste time. He slipped out and rushed back home—back to his friends, who had clearly been caught in some kind of attack while he was with Jens.
