[Bonus chapter]

*Several years ago*

"HEY, DAD! ARE YOU BUSY RIGHT NOW? I NEED YOUR POINT OF VIEW ON SOMETHING!" yelled young Bree from the reading room upstairs.

"I'm in the living room kiddo!" her dad replied as he headed towards the echoing voice of his sweet little princess. "Is everything alright, sweetie?" he questioned.

"I'm fine, dad. I just was curious about something!" she said.

"On my way!" he said as he approached the reading room. When he reached the room, he leaned on the door frame and stared at the floor which was filled with newspaper cut outs, scattered randomly. "Care to explain the mess, young lady?" he asked, laughing at the sight of the 4'3" kid sitting in the middle of what seemed to be an open case investigation.

"Soweyyyyyyyy daddyyyy!" she spoke in aegyo (baby accent) "I was just reading. But this particular piece is different from the other ones!" she seemed excited.

"Okay, how different?" he was trying not to laugh at her cuteness.

She handed the news cut out that she was reading to Mr Dallas (her dad). He was in complete shock. He never expected her to be this calm while reading these kinds of cases. He tried his best to remain calm for his daughter's sake.

The news cut out in question quoted:

"Daniel is an archetypal tart-with-a-heart. Unfortunately, as the lover of Oprea Uphold's most dastardly villain, Bee Siken, she is doomed. After mistakenly fearing he has betrayed her, Siken batters Daniel to death in his bed. His corpse is so deformed that the person who identifies his body is so scared by the experience that they've led away in a straitjacket."

"Where did you find this, Bree?" he questioned her with eyes as wide as saucers.

"I found it in that file over there!" she pointed to the reading table. "Is there something wrong?" she looked at her father confused.

"Oh no, not at all. I'm just amazed that you haven't flinched at the story. You like these kinds of stories?" he asked her in the calmest tone possible.

"Yeah, it's better than those fairytales that I've read before. It's interesting, daddy!" she said with a wide smile.

"What else have you read?" he asked, wanting to know more.

"This one, daddy!" she handed him a few cut outs as he went through them one by one.

The first one quoted: "The hapless Dan is drawn to his death after his affair with the free-spirited Heather Schwimmer. After she falls pregnant with his child – while he is married – Dan attempts to make amends at the titular home of the upper-class Walter's. Alas, Chris Dan is attacked by Charles Walter. After being struck by a sword, the bookcase Lanner tries to hold onto falls upon him, crushing him."

The second one on the other hand quoted: "Is being skinned alive gruesome enough for y'all? As Yakamoto, a Japanese espionage agent, is skinned 'like a peach' by a Thai officer, his friend, Lieutenant Theerapanyakul Pan Parich, is forced to endure the brutal scene. He said: "He bore the pain without a whimper - at first. But soon he began to scream." You don't say!". The rest of the lot was a whole series of similar cases.

"You really like these?" his curiosity kicked in once again.

"I don't understand most of those big words but I have an idea of what it is about!" she said, looking all bubbly.

"Can't say I'm not surprised, cupcake. But I remember having these locked in a safe in my office room so I still am a little confused about how you got a hold of these. Care to explain?" he turned to look at his daughter for an explanation.

"Well, I don't know about that. I found these in the drawer over there!" she pointed at the reading table.

"Mom must have misplaced it while cleaning. Anyways, I think that's enough for today. Let's go have some actual fun, shall we?" he said hoping to sway her attention away from the awful cases.

"I wanna go to the park! Can we go, daddy?" she was jumping around her dad, pleading with him to take her there.

"I don't see why not. Tell mom that we'll be out and remind her to give Brad a bath before we get back!" he instructed.

"I think she would give him a bath in a while even if I don't remind her. Brad was playing in the backyard. He should be covered in the dirt right now!" she said as she laughed.

"You did the same thing when you were around his age. I have no idea what is so good about our backyard. Is it because it's spacious?" he laughed.

"You should have asked me that when I was little, daddy. I don't remember being in the backyard a lot. I do remember ruining your work papers once. I chewed on them, right?" she giggled.

"Indeed, you did, sweetie. Indeed, you did!" he laughed at her.

When little Bree is ready for her outing to the park there is just one thing on her mind—the giant shiny blue slide that twists and turns all the way to the ground. However, she has plenty of little uh-ohs on her way there, from spilling ice cream on her clothes, scuffing her shoe, or her hair becoming messed up in the wind. Lucky for her, Mr Dad is on hand to help her overcome the oopsie that came along so that she can concentrate on having fun in the park.

Her dad just couldn't stop laughing at her clumsiness They had a lot of fun at the park. They went there so often that you could say it was their park at this point. He was admiring the fact that Bree was so much like her mother, even though she looked like the exact replica of him. He didn't have that much time to spend with her but he made sure every second was spent well.
