The Royal Killer?

The leader of the bandits, Cruz Crowder sat in boredom as a sturdy rope was binding her to a tree.

"I already told you, I won't tell you anything?" She said.

"Okay. But I bet you anything I can guess what color your underwear are." Louis stated.

Cruz tilted her head in confusion as his claim came out of the blue.

"Why would you want to guess something like that? Pretty random if you ask me. I'll take you up on your offer. If you're wrong, you'll let me and my men go. But if you're right, then I'll happily speak."

Louis smirked with confidence.

"Prepare to be amazed...abracadabra. You're wearing pink underwear."

"WHAT? How did you know that?" Cruz cried.

Louis was kind enough to explain while scratching the back of his head.

"It's just a hunch."

"You figured out the color of my underwear from a hunch?? How?! That's not fair."

Knowing how he'd won the bet, Louis's face grew smug while he shrugged his shoulders.

"Right. I have no idea how I guessed it. Anyways...a bet is a bet. Talk. Who lied to you and said our carriages had goods?"

"Umm. It's a guy named Bob. I don't know anything else." said Cruz.

Louis knew right away she was lying. After all, it is one of his abilities to spot liars pretty easily.

"Yep. That was a total lie."

"Am I that obvious?"

"Yes, but It's also one of my abilities to spot liars."

"THAT'S so not FAIR!!!."

In time, Cruz spilled the information. The person who gave her the info was a man who goes by the name 'Faust'

But Cruz stated how Faust never shows his face and always had different meeting places. Even more suspicious, he always has information related to secret matters in the Kingdom.

Louis had a strong hunch that this 'Faust' person must be someone working for the kingdom. But who? Even himself couldn't have a good way of knowing.

With the questioning being done, it was time to discuss a way of transportation. Louis made his way to one of the Knights who was keeping watch on the surviving bandits.

"Any ideas on how we're going to get out of here?"

"There's not much hope for the carriages. They're too badly damaged. And our horses, they're all dead. Our only option is a village about 4 miles away. Maybe they can lend us some horses.

"I'll go check it out. If I can get some horses, I'll repair the carriages with magic. I'll take that Cruz girl with me. She's too dangerous to leave to you guys. You just focus on watching the other bandits."

The knight nodded but was unsure if Louis should be left to go alone.

"Are you sure? How about at least one of us goes with you?"

"I'll be fine. I don't really have to worry. I have an ability to keep me from dying easily if anything happens."

"You really do have an ability for everything."

Louis cut the rope, freeing Cruz.

"You're letting me go?"

"Not really. I need to travel to a nearby village. But, I need to take you with me." Louis replied.

1 hour of walking….

Cruz was dragging her feet and leaning over in boredom.

"Ugh. I hate this! Why did I have to come with you."

"I had a hunch that the other knights wouldn't be able to handle you if you tried to fight them. But you're pretty easy for me. So, that's why." Louis explained.

He suddenly stopped, stopping Cruz from walking further. His cautiousness was intense as he only stared at the path up ahead.

"What's wrong? Let me guess, you have a HUNCH about something?" Cruz asked.

"That's right. I have a hunch that a monster is watching us." said Louis.

Stomp! Stomp! Stomp!

A bulky creature stepped out from behind one of the trees, revealing itself.

It's skin was dark red and it's eyes were glowing yellow. On the creature's head, were two red horns. Each of these traits were that of a dangerous kind of monster, an Ogre.

Louis's face stayed unfazed, while Cruz was in sheer terror.

"Don't just STAND there! There'a frickin' Ogre! We need to run!"

"No, it's fine." said Louis, walking in the monster's direction with no hesitation.

"What are you doing?! That thing will SLAUGHTER you!!" Cruz shouted in concern.

Still, Louis didn't stop. Instead, he only chuckled.

"I have a hunch I'll be fine. I also have a hunch I'll defeat it in one shot."

"One SHOT?! I call BULLshit. Just run you Idiot!!!!"

"Summon: Come forth, Blade of Purification." Louis chanted.

A circle of light surrounded his hand as a glowing, silver sword appeared.

['Auto Dodge' has been set active]

The Ogre dashed forward, faster than Cruz's spectating eyes could see.

The monster's claws slashed at Louis, but missed as he easily stepped aside. The Ogre turned, following up with another slash, which Louis also dodged. The monster stomped into foot into the floor as a high-pitched scream lef tit's mouthhh.

Screeeecchhhh.

[Warning]

[Enemy has canceled your ability 'Auto Dodge']

"What?"

He wasn't given time to comprehend the situation, resulting in the Ogre's class cutting through his body.

Slash! Splurt! Squirt!

Louis's fell into two separate pieces. His life ceased to exist.

Thump! Thump!

Cruz stood in terror, she had watched her only hope of survival get killed. Now, it looked like she was next in line as the Ogre's attention shifted to her.

"Oh no…" She muttered.

The monster stepped forward, stopping as an unexpected event took a place.

"I hate dying. It hurts pretty bad. I didn't think an Ogre with a canceling ability existed. I guess I'll just have to step things up."

It was the voice of Louis, who was back in 1 piece, and alive.

Cruz instantly voiced her surprise.

"What the?! You're seriously AlIVE?! I'm actually freakin' impressed. Now hurry up and kill this thing!" She didn't think she would actually be cheering on the man who defeated her, but now wasn't the time to be picky. It wasn;t like she could handle the situation on her own.

"Yeah, I'm alive. Resurrection just so happens to be one of my abilities. As long as I still have mana, I can't die." said Louis.

He then looked at the Ogre, speaking to it.

"Right about now, It would be fun to guess your color of underwear, but you're dangerous. So I'll just put you down quickly."

"Just do it and stop talking!" Cruz shouted.

"Well, okay. Fine, if you insist."

Louis picked his sword off of the ground before taking a stance.

He chanted, "Ultra Enhancement: Speed boost."

His body was covered by a blue haze.

Swoosh!

His figure flashed and he suddenly appeared behind the monster. Louis let out a sigh as his sword slowly vanished.

"It's done."

A thin, gushing slit surfaced across the Ogre's neck. Heavily, the monster fell to it's letting out a final gasp before dying.

Thump!

Louis leaned over, gagging and nearly vomiting.

"H-Hey! Are you okay?!" Cruz asked while being greatly concerned.

"..I'm fine. It's just, Black Magic is some deadly stuff. Not only to the enemy, but yourself."

"That was black magic? NO way. Only people with permission from the king can use that kind of magic? And the fact you know how to use it is incredible on its own."

Magic was put into a tier, list, ranked from weakest to strongest.

[Green tier magic- Low tier, spells that the majority of people can master. Not usually harmful.

Blue tier magic-Average tier spells, somewhat complex but most novices can master with great practice. These spells can be useful and are usually building grounds for higher tier spells.

Red Magic- High tier spells, complex and hard to master, even for mages with experience. Spells of this tier can usually cause harm and no novice should attempt them. These kinds of spells can usually have side-effects on the caster.

Grey Magic- A category of magic used by professionals. This level of magic is usually found to be dangerous. Some spells in this category can be simple but harmful. These kinds of spells almost always have side-effects on the caster, sometimes fatal.

Black Magic - The highest tier magic. Spells in this category are only to be used by the military and permitted officials.

Forbidden - The most advanced and deadliest spells of all. No-one is permitted to use these spells that have been written in the forbidden texts. Anyone who sues these, is to be killed on sight on order of the kingdom.]

Cruz still couldn't quite wrap her head around Louis's feats. First, he easily killed many of her bandits, next, he defeated her with no effort. He got cut apart and literally died but resurrected, right before he used black magic.

"From your abilities and magic knowledge, I'd say you're no weaker than a Royal Knight. Who really are you?"

"I'm just a guy who is skilled in killing for the kingdom's cause. I'm just a Royal Killer."

Cruz's heart almost popped when she heard the phrase 'Royal Killer'

It was a name of a powerful Mage/Detective/Knight of the kingdom. A man who is called 'The Royal Killer'

'Royal Killer?! No.. it can't be. Is he...really him?' Cruz thought to herself before speaking her mind.

"...Do you mean, you're him? The...Royal Killer?"

Louis gave no straight answer and instead shrugged.

"I dunno, believe what you want, I guess. Anyways, we should hurry up and get to the village, it's getting dark."

"O-Okay." Cruz agreed.

Bonus Interaction:

While they kept walking, Cruz could't stop herself from sneaking a glance at Louis every couple seconds. His feats were amazing. With the ability to resurrect, it seemed like he was an unkillable force. Anyone with that kind of power must be the greatest weapon in the kingdom, or maybe even the world.

"Why do you keep looking at me? I see that you're trying to be sneaky about it, but I do notice stuff like that." said Louis.

"Huh? Am I that obvious?!" Cruz asked.

It wasn't that she was obvious. Actually, her glances were almost unnoticeable while she was trying to be sneaky. But it wasn't much when going against Louis's ability to notice nearly unnoticeable details.

"No. If I'm being honest, if it weren't for one of my abilities noticing it, there's no way I would've known you were checking me out."

"I wasn't checking you out. I was just wondering something." Cruz stated.

More accurately, she was wondering about the [Resurrection] ability.

"When you die and resurrect. With an ability like that, you're practically unstoppable. If you were a villain or something, it's funny to think that the kingdom probably would have no way of stopping you. EVen with the help of the entire military."

Louis spotted a problem in her understanding of the [Resurrection] ability. In Cruz's mind, she was making it way more overpowered than it really was.

Louis sighed and lowered his head.

"Yep. You're a noob. Even you should know that every ability has some kind of weakness. And [Resurrection] is no exception. The moment I run out of mana, is the moment I really stay dead. Hell, It can even be beaten if my opponent had some sort of anti-resurrection ability, if that's actually a thing."

"It's really that easy to counter you? You probably shouldn't rely on it too much, then." said Cruz.

"Don't worry I know that. I am well aware."
