Mission Success

Estelle had already apologized to Louis when he had woken up earlier, but here she was, apologizing again.

"I'm sorry. If I had gotten the news sooner, I could've prevented you and the other's form getting injured."

Aside from having a mild headache, Louis felt completely fine from the battle of the mansion yesterday.

Indigo was in medical care, recovering form her bullet wounds, but she's expected to make a full recovery. And Leo had already recovered from his injuries. It was fortunate everything worked out fine.

"You don't have to keep apologizing. At least you showed up before anyone else got injured." said Louis.

"Yes, I suppose so. I still find it surprising how even you were defeated by the attackers. Were they really that strong?"

It was true that each enemy there was strong, but what made it a challenge was that there were 5 attackers in total. Ella, Lucius, Alys, Jack and Faust.

All ot them, except for Ella had been killed.

"Yeah, they were strong. It's kind of scary to think people like that had there eyes on the place. What's on my mind is where the Vangray family is supposed to stay if their mansion has that much damage to it."

This had already been taken care of by the King's orders.

"They are being escorted to the capital, along with the documents." Estelle stated.

Just hearing about it, it sounded like there was a risk of being ambushed along the road, but there was reassurance. The Vangray family had 6 Royal Knights in total escorting, along with 9 carriages of knight's from the imperial guard. Any threat to them would definitely be delt with.

"About my mission. Am I still assigned to it?" Louis asked.

Estelle shook her head, "The king considered your mission a success. You did just help fend off the attackers, wich we could only assume were the ones plotting something. As far as everything goes, you're free to go back to living your normal life."

A slight joy rang into Louis's heart. He had forgotten what a successful mission felt like. It brought great relief to his soul. The only reason he took up the mission in the first place was the guilt he would've felt if he didn't do something. Now that it was over, he would no longer feel any guilt from it.

Louis got out of the hospital bed and stretched his arms towards the ceiling.

"Well, if I'm not assigned to it anymore. I'll get ready to head back to the capital as well."

In the back of his mind, he didn't want to just leave without saying anything to Indigo or the other's, but he could recall some of his actions after he casted the sanity spell. He didn't feel like he could face them after acting in such a monsterous way.

"What will you do now?" Estelle asked.

"What I've been doing for the past 5 years. I'm going to go home and sleep. Maybe drink a little bit too."

Estell looked down and had a somewhat saddened expression in her eyes.

She found it to be a waste of skill for someone like Louis to live a slothful life. But, there wasn't really much she could say on the matter, it wasn't her decision.

"I wish you would come back. But I respect your choice." she said.

"Thanks for understanding. Also, I'd appreciate it if you could pass a message to the other's for me. Tell them I said to take care."

Louis turned away, walking out of the hospital room. Now, he just needed to find a ride back to the capital. He knew exactly who to ask.
